Its an age old question plaguing the mind of Link in all console Zelda games...

Is rolling faster than running? I've heard both sides of the argument. The pause after the roll, more distance covered in a shorter time, the whole smash. Lets hear your side of it.

Just test it.

Find a corridor, time how long it takes to run down it, then time how long it take to roll down it. Speedrunners check these things, ya know?

I think so. Even if it isn't, it's not slower than running, so I'll take the psychosomatic boost.

I do know for sure that Deku Link's twirl is faster than running.

It's the same speed. I've tested several times in great detail.

What is faster, though, is when you hold the target button and jump sideways. I've only tested this on Ocarina of Time, but it definitely works.

I've always found rolling faster but the constant "Ayahhh" gets to your nerves eventually.

I thought Links Dilemia was choosing from the harem of girls he commands.

Honestly, and I know this is sad that I know it but, it changes from game to game.

The N64 games(except when you wear the bunny hood in MM) it was faster as you could pull off a way of doing a continuous roll. WW its slower. TP its slower.

Or princess Ruto from OOT, she wanted to marry him. But i guess he's not into fishy chicks.

I thought Link's problem is that he's always pulled into a problem that almost always has nothing to do with him. OOT, he was just a normal kokiri. well not really but you know what i mean. In TP he was just a farmhand! Only a couple defy this rule, such as MM, considering he left to find Navi. But mostly he's just dragged into something that has nothing to do with him, asides him being the "Chosen One" or "Blessed One" or something, and that he has a harem of girls oh so willing to be his, but he's too confoozled to pick one.

heheh. Confoozled.

If you go back, he had a veritable harem in OoT. Off the top of my head, Ruto, Malon, Saria, and Zelda.

Going by Ocarina of Time It's because he's a little boy.
Even when he's supposedly been made into a man by TIME MAGIC(TM) I'm assuming that it was just as instantaneous for him as it is for us, So we're now talking about a little boy in a man's body.

At least that's the way I choose to think about it.

In all honesty I'd rather have the milk maid chick.

As far as i remember that big busty barmaid in TP was kinda hitting on him as well

That's only a dilemma 'cause Malon's in just one game.
He also has Ruto and Saria trying to jump his bones and thats just OoT. He has two girls in Termina who call him master. It's like someone already said he has a good sized Harem going

That's odd. Whenever I leave the Deku Forrest the first time, I have to roll-dash to the castle or I'll be fighting skeletons all night. I've found there to be a significant difference in OoT.

I'm not so sure about the other games. It is CLEARLY faster in Minish Cap, and you can boost it's effectiveness with the sword lunge added to the end of the roll.
