It's very charming and it's possible to get lost for hours in creating any world you want... if you WANT to. If you don't go for that, there isn't anything there for you as there are a few crippling gameplay faults that are masked over by the open-ended creator.
I lose hours just actually playing the game. There are so many levels to play it's overwhelming... now the only thing stopping me from playing is knowing that I'm going to tank my entire evening away if I put the disc in.

The gameplay is solid, it's just not Mario. People describe the jump mechanics as "floaty" but that is really a misnomer. The jump mechanics are just weighted due to velocity since the game exists in a physics engine. Due to this weighted effect, the platforming feels more like Sonic the Hedgehog than Mario (where you slow down to slide rather than stop like a robot).

I love playing about with level creators in Tony Hawks, Timesplitters and Far Cry. However, I just don't feel inspired to create levels for a 2D platformer. It apparantly floats a few peoples boats, but I count myself amongst the crowd who look on scratching their head and wishing some guns would appear or something.

not everyone will enjoy it but i'm sure other people have said that already. here is a way to think of it: mario with three dimensions and a grab feature. that is the gameplay; fun, simple sidescrolling fun. if you get bored of the premade levels build your own or play a community level. i love the level editor. i have spent three days creating my first level in it and it's still not finished. however most people will not be open enough to new things to give this game a fair go.

all in all i just love it. probably because i was one of those kids that loved lego to death and would play with them for hours.

Four player simultaneous SIDESCROLLER? *PSP Squirrel tone*

Admit it, there's been times where you wanted to play a game like Super Mario Brothers with both Mario and Luigi on screen at the same time. LittleBigPlanet lets you do something similar, either online or offline. Even without the level editor, the story levels work together to create a solid title.

Plug the PS3 into the internet and now, even without you ever touching the level editor, you have a massive amount of user-made levels to choose from. Some aren't very creative, and many feel recycled (see: Green Hill Zone), but you can hardly fault Media Molecule for that. Besides, there are, obviously, levels that are true brilliance. Remember the crazy stuff that Halo 3 players make in Forge mode? Take that to an extreme. And with less shooting.

As much as I dislike overuse of the phrase, really, what is there to get? It's a charming 2D sidescroller (which I'll assume by the OP's avatar is the kind of thing he'd like) with nearly infinite replay value. For one single purchase. $5 more and you get shooting levels as well.

Besides, nothing shows how manly you are as playing a game with the cutest most lovable sackperson in the world.
