I've seen the system for making things like that in LBP2 and it's really roundabout like my buddy made a FPS camera and posted it. You had to place the camera in a cart during creation... something with yarn. He was very interested in explaining it but about 5 minutes in I was so lost i kinda wasn't listening.
He also made a C&C clone for LBP2.

It's certainly impressive, but I can' thinking that compared to even a generic FPS, it doesn't actually look enjoyable, so..what's the point? Worth it just to prove they could, I guess...
The point isn't to make things that rival other games, you don't play the levels for as long as a full game you play them for 20 mins max and then they end, so the point is to give you a taste of every genre when you want it not so you don't have to buy another game
This level is like a working car made of cheese, even though its not as practical (good) as a regular car (FPS) its still amazing just because of what they used to make it.

Creativity toys in the guise of games are the way of the future now, aren't they?

There are much worse trends.

And we already started it...people asking the same bloody question on why the person made this FPS on LBP2 when they could yadda yadda yadda.

It's way to show your skills people, you know, a challenge, something which even high studio developers seem to lack.

I think the most amazing thing is that they were able to create this just using a PS3 controller (which is what I find to be the most frustrating thing about LBP level builder). I wonder how long it took them.

What's that you say, LittleBigPlanet 2 is a 2D platformer? Where on Earth did you get such a crazy notion?

A pair of LittleBigPlanet 2 [http://www.amazon.com/LittleBigPlanet-2-Playstation-3/dp/B002I0K780/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305893881&sr=8-1 ] players have taken the cute, bright and family-friendly side-scrolling platformer, and used it to create a rather dark and oppressive first-person shooter full of robots, rockets, and for some reason, retro cars.

The level serves as a brief trailer for a much larger project called "Massive Epic Raving Destruction," and was created by users "Steve_Big_Guns" and "Special _D." As you can see from the video, it's not really what you'd call a "typical" LBP level. Writing on the LittleBigPlanet Central [http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?56716-Massive-Epic-Raging-Destruction-(M.E.R.D)-3D-FPS-Trailer] forums, Steve said that the level doesn't quite the work the way he wanted, as he couldn't get the camera to rotate properly. The fix was apparently not to rotate the camera, but to rotate the whole level - which might explain why the movements seem a little stiff. Even that wasn't perfect though, as it was possible to hit a level boundary and have the whole thing break.

Since the release of the beta last year players have done all kinds of crazy and impressive things with LBP 2 from making Marvel vs. Capcom-style fighting games [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106297-Insane-Fans-Make-Sony-vs-Marvel-vs-Capcom-in-LBP2], to recreating the likes of Peggle [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107504-You-Got-Your-Peggle-in-My-LittleBigPlanet2] and Portal [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/104597-Player-Packs-Portal-Into-LittleBigPlanet-2]. But even among these impressive projects, the "M.E.R.D." trailer stands out as something special. You can find out more about the level/trailer here [http://lbp.me/v/0e851x], and if you've got LittleBigPlanet 2, grab it for yourself.

Is it possible this is actually just fake? That they didn't somehow create a 3-D FPS with LBP2 stuff?

Skeptical cat is skeptical.

An apt metaphor, as a working car made of cheese is certainly not something I would ever want to actually try driving.

However, it is something you would want to hear about.

You can actively play it in LBP2 in the community levels. Me thinks this is the real deal.

To those asking, this was created using a camera glitch that has been involved in short 3D levels like this for some time now. The "character" and enemies are actually walking on a vertical background surface, but the camera points in a way that makes it look like the ground. The detail of this has nothing to do with creating complicated 3D models but is all about properly decorating the objects. For example those lampposts at the end are actually those decorative little antennae with a light on the end.

Is it funny that this looks better than some of the recent AAA fps's as of late?

the acronym they chose for the project is... well, interesting. :D
I know! Maybe they should rename it "Super Hectic Infernal Turmoil" for areas with French populations.:)
