I've been to Africa as an aid worker, and I left thinking "there has to be a better way than this". So I started donating time and money to organizations who give schooling and jobs, because that's what is actually needed, not some bleeding heart over there to make themselves feel better.

A few years after Africa, I went to Guatemala as a karate instructor/fighter in a tournament. During the several weeks that I was there, I was able to help train instructors at a school that provides full scholarships to students to study at private schools and universities, and keeps them out of something that will kill them by age 25.

That being said, LRR was spot on this week with their lampooning of voluntourism. Way to go guys!

I loved the episode. I ran a charity organization for about 4 years, and the only part of that episode that do not apply is the pills thing. To me, anyways.

This is sadly probably a bit true At least nowadays you normally pay for it and they can use that money for stuff. And some people might be moved enough to commit in a bigger way

Maybe it´s because there hasn´t been one of those "two people talking to each other"-episodes in some time, but it really struck me just how good the acting was in this one. Especially Graham is unironically great at it by now.

And that whole Voluntourism thing always struck me as weird (seem to be a mostly American thing, too). I mean, there IS a set of people who can be of real help, but that´s mostly people like qualified engineers, physicians and teachers.
If you haven´t even managed to be a productive member of OUR society yet, how are you supposed to be of help in Africa ?

Wait, don't you know about the secret elephant plot? Elephants are actually an ancient advanced race that came to Earth a few milenia ago in order to colonize it. But since they crashed, destroying most of their technology, they were stranded here. They've had to wait centuries for humans to advance enough to start stealing bits of technology to reform their own. They couldn't really remake it themselves because of the lack of thumbs and lack of the same types of minerals and similar elements from their planet.

About fifty years ago they were finally able to remake shape-changing technology as well as minor hypnotic devices. But since the human race is all over, they've needed to infiltrate our society to better understand it and make plans to take over.

Since then they've been beginning to work further and further into society, helping us advance so they can get us far enough to make a device to signal their home world for backup. All the while taking places in governments, media, and even becoming internet celebrities so they can strike when the time is right. Luring us into a false sense of security. I also think Yahtzee is an elephant as well, just waiting with all the others to hear back from their own world... Search your feelings, you know it to be true. No logic in the universe can go against my insane theories!

Or, you know, I was trying to make a bad joke based on the stinger. It's one of those two I think. Pretty sure it's the first thing though.

Also, the capta says: true. ibludi. Ibludi must be the name of the elephant language. Someone needs to decode it!

The part where the chair squeaked at around the 1 minute mark matched Graham's facial expression so well I fell of the couch laughing! Excellent sketch!

One of the reasons I always come back for more is because you guys always make great one-liners.
