Well today I found myself locked out of my house from 7am until 11am, and since none of my friends were awake, I then found myself relaxing in a nice little spot on the hill nearby and going on a leisurely walk around said hill as well as the area around it, which I have never been to before in my life. I never would've given even a thought to doing any of those things before today. The questions I'd like to ask you, my fellow Escapist-goers, are as follow:
What would you do/have you done before in this situation or a similar one?
and
Have you/had you ever thought about it before?

I would have climbed through a window.
Or if someone was in the house, I'd be banging on the door until someone got up.

I can no longer lock myself out of my house since I have a thumbprint scanner instead of a lock on my door, no where near as expensive as you may think.
Due to heavy drinking, my friend once locked himself out of his house and decided that the best course of action to take was to cut off the doorknob with a Jigsaw he had in his garage... when he sobered up he was not happy.

Somewhat frequently actually. My air conditioning doesn't work so frequently i make a mad dash out of my house as soon as the daily high is reached. Sometimes i forget my keys, though more often i simply forget my MP3 player. Usually when i am locked out i simply ring the doorbell and my dogs start barking until someone unlocks the door for me.

I usually just sit outside, trying to think of someone else to put the blame on. I once had to piss on the side of my house, for obvious reasons.

I got locked out of my apartment late one night. Luckily my friend lived in the same building so I kipped with him until I could get the spare key. Now I just leave the key in a place where I can't help but see it.

This has happened 3 times to me. Broke in. No magical mystical journey for me, just some good solid problem solving.

If the front door is locked, I would jump the fence to the back yard and see if the back door is unlocked. If it is, then I'm in. If it is locked, then I guess I'd just hang around outside or drive somewhere and find something to do.

I use to come home from school all the time to find my family had gone away somewhere and they didn't leave me a key. I usually check to see if I can get in through the Living room window and if that fails, I just walk up to my Grandmothers.

Currently I always take a spare house key with me when ever I'm going somewhere.

I either just hang around out back with my dog until someone gets home or go pay my dad a visit.

It is entirely possible for me to bust down the door, despite it being a rather firm and sturdy thing, mostly because I DID on one occasion. Badly-damaged the entire door mechanism in a fit of rage.

The only time it happened to me I ripped the screen off of a window. Other than that if I've had to wait for something to be open I'll usually just walk around or something else like that

I once locked my only set of keys in my truck once. That's when I figured out that I could break in to my own truck using a screwdriver.

i've learned to allways make sure a window is open when i leave the house, for just such an occation. there's nothing around here worth wandering around for/i've allready seen it all. best just to hop through a window.

I once got locked out in the middle of winter for an hour. Not fun. At least I had my iPod.

Usually don't have to worry about it as I always have a house key in pocket whenever I leave the house. But if I was locked out, I would probably just get in through a window. Usually there's a window unlocked

Begin killing nearby wildlife and insects. Eat all of them immediately. Drink nearby fluids, rainwater if lucky, urination if unlucky. If members of society emerge, kill them, and enjoy their delicious, succulent meats. Construct makeshift shelter out of any resources available; this may mean flesh of enemies. Create fire, and construct a torch. Use torch to burn down houses. Raid burnt houses, kill all residents. Reap plentiful resources and rewards.

Mourn your own burnt down house.

This has happened to me a couple of times, usually when I lose my keys and my girlfriend is asleep by the time I get home (she can be a bit of a heavy sleeper sometimes), and I had the same response as you did. In Miami, I lived across from a little park and I used to sit on the tire swing and see how dizzy I could become before I couldn't tolerate it anymore, or see how far I could lean back before the whole thing flipped over.

I've been locked out before. I don't lock my windows (if someone wants to break in badly enough they will just break the windows anyways) so I poped the screen and opened the window and rolled in. Anyone who has not entered a house though a window must do so at some point in their life, its fun.
