I think LG paid for the whole thing, being sponsors, in return for having their logo shown on a building and other advertisement etc. Also i think it was 500 000, still expensiveJazoni89 said:Doesn't surprise me.Distorted Stu said:I heard it cost 1.2 Million....Jazoni89 said:Their goes all that useful tax payers money up in smoke.

If I had a job, I seriously would be pissed off around about now.

We wouldn't have felt the benefit of that money, it would have gone on another stupid scheme, or into the pockets of rich people. A lot of money already does, millions more than this cost. At least this, the main celebration of the year, could be witnessed by anyone and everyone, rich, poor, man, woman, black, white etc etc etc. I'd much rather they sank money into this, than something I can't see, nor benefit from.
Being very working class and poor, I'd rather they had a party with some of the money, than let z-list politicians lord it up by hosting posh receptions with tax dodging ex-pat lords and suchlike.
Ahh quit whineing, its nice that they've still done this, just because we're supposed to be cutting back and saving, it doesnt mean we cant celebrate in style once in a while. I mean it was the New Year for fucks sakes! You've gotta pull out all the stops!Jazoni89 said:Doesn't surprise me.Distorted Stu said:I heard it cost 1.2 Million....Jazoni89 said:Their goes all that useful tax payers money up in smoke.

Which is why we love you.RewardMe said:And there we have it, people. Even on a day of celebration the british can't help but complain about wasting tax payers money. Sometimes i think we are the most miserable people in the world.
Clearly, you've never been to Chicago.Demgar said:It's like the Olympics. No one in their right mind complains about how much the Olympics costs to host. Why? Because it's an investment in your city, and pays off in a multitude of ways.
As a member of the upper middle class, shading upper, I can say that WE'D certainly never see the money either. My brothers work from 6 am until 8 or 9 at night, later some days, each week, getting literal days off each year and each pay many tens of thousands in tax that goes towards paying for the Sky TV and Nike trainers of people with no jobs, being fed money by the government.Verlander said:Why?
