I don't see why people would want to see this outside of their own homes considering all Extended Lord Of The Rings are on DVD and normal movie can be a pain to sit through at theaters, and here we have this 3 super movie saga.

I saw an ad for this at my local cinema when I went to see Thor, so I know it is coming here. Most of these type of events though the tickets are like $25-$30 a piece.

Nevermind, it only $13.50, which is normal.

Yeah, I saw that, but way too expensive for me. Besides, I already have the full set of extended editions. Sure I may only be able to watch them on a big screen, and not the theater, but I'm okay with that.

3 hours wasn't the extended?O_O
You people are insane.
Personally I feel that even the extended doesn't cover the books very well. Seriously they should have just split it up into like 5-6 movies imo.

Why would I care? I already own them all on DvD, no reason to spend more money on them when I can just pop them into my PS3 and enjoy the evening.

Love the extended LOTR movies but I can't justify dropping 45.00 in tickets plus probably that again in popcorn and soda to see them when I already have the DVDs and a nice TV at home.

I already have the extended version in hardcover & paperback.I'd much rather just read the books again than watch the movies

It is amusing to see people asking the simple question, why should I go pay for these movies again when I already own them on DVD (and soon to be blu-ray)? Well such a valid simple question has a simple answer, movies like Lord of the Rings (that is big epic blockbusters, though they are so much more than that as well) are always best viewed in a cinema with a massive screen and pounding surround sound. That is how they were originally made to be viewed. Sure you have to share it with strangers who are munching on their pop corn or slurping their drinks but nothing beats the cinema experience for intensity. You're not just paying to see the movie, you're paying for the cinema experience that you can't get at home (unless you're very very rich and have your own equivalent setup at home). If you don't care for the cinema experience then I think it's your loss (though no monetary loss).

I just wish it had a wider release, there are people all across the world who would gladly pay money to see these films for the hundreth time on the big screen and I'm one of them. Bring it to the UK and everywhere!

Um... Why?

Don't we all already have the extendo editions on DVD now? Why should I see these things in theatres again? At least in 1997 Star Wars added some scenes and stuff. People whine about those scenes (because people whine about everything) but it was an attempt to justify things.

Seriously, do I want to pay 8 bucks to see Merry and Pippin waste ten minutes smoking weed in the ruins of Isengard?
Because you dont have a theater in your house.

Me and my Dad tried to watch all 3 extended films in a weekend.
It took us two months...

I've re-watched the first 2 recently, and noticed some things. Firstly, I don't want an extended edition of the third movie, as the epilogue alone is enough to make the length of that film damned near unbearable. Second, while The Two Towers used to be my favorite, I now favor Fellowship. The battle for Helm's Deep that so defines Towers has simply not held up as well over time as I would have thought. Sure, it's larger scale than any other fight in the trilogy, but it's not as well pulled off in my opinion, and it doesn't carry the same emotional weight, and isn't as fun to watch, as the horseback chase sequence or the cave troll/Balrog section of Fellowship.

And I still want to know how Steven Tyler's genes could possibly produce this:

Oh look... another con to get people's butts into the cinema without releasing any GOOD new films.

Seriously, can people not make good movies anymore and have to resort to re-airing prior films out into cinemas. I thought re-runs on TV were bad! >.<
