Alright! Here's enough information here to get the ball rolling...
Mission: The SS-Aurora has not yet been completed. You are part of a skeleton crew to keep the ship safe and secure during a Martian attack. Those filthy miners are ruthless, and will stop at nothing to secure their "Independence".
Update: Well, good job. You failed your mission. The ship was ambushed. Shields failed, and the FTL engines were engaged while the ship was hit by a heavy payload Torpedo, "Sunslayer Class." Now nobody has a clue what's going on until the A.I. is re-engaged.
Survivors: It's sort of my style to keep tabs on everything you got, as well as any injuries you have in an Excel Spreadsheet. So, if you pick something up, let me know what you got.
This is a list of the current survivors.
Name - Nationality - Task
Dr. Iskierka Capek - American (Polish Decent) - Primary Science and Observation
David West - Irish - Security Patrol 4 (To Be Dropped to Mars)
Ace Jefferson - Commonwealth(NZ) - Entertainment (To Be Dropped to Mars)
Marcus Law - Australian - Primary Engineering and Maintenance
James Eli Stroud - Commonwealth(CAN) - Tertiary Engineering and Maintenance
Dr. Jake Gallows - American (German Descent) - Psychologist (To Be Dropped to Mars)
Johann Isaacson - German - Diplomat (To Be Dropped to Mars)
Philip Day - Commonwealth(Br) - Level 2 Cook
Spy will be chosen randomly.
"Scanning for additional life will never end, due to the integrity of my scanner systems, I am unable to provide a 30% accuracy scan of areas outside of my jurisdiction, nor am I able to provide proper ID-Scans in more than 22% of the Aurora."
Note: I haven't gotten any PM's regarding the Spy. I may very well Omit it. There will be aliens, but not the kind your thinking about...
I aim to start this Saturday.
Interested? Here's a character sheet.

If you have any inquiries, Ask! If I get enough attention, I'll start with people waking up on the Aurora. I'm hoping to get a minimum of 2 people, and a maximum of 8. If I haven't hit 8 and I started anyway, others can wake up elsewhere. If there's something you don't like, lemme know, and I'll hope to give you more insight, or maybe be swayed.
Also, looking at the tone of some RP's here, I feel this blurb is needed. You can die.
Another person can kill you, but I get the final say on your demise. If you do something stupid, then you will probably die. If I'm about to kill you, I'll try and give you a chance, but if you don't notice it, you can die.
The Spy is someone from Mars, working for Mars. The secrecy I provide to you is your defense so nobody can put you in a bad way off the bat. While you may understand the gravity of the situation, there are 7 people who may think things can still go just fine without you.

I aim to start this Saturday.
The SS Aurora. Pride of the Earth Fleet laid in complete and total disarray.
The year is 2093, Humanity has gone the way of rapid development in space travel due to the invention of FTL Flight. Space programs of the past started off with short bursts to Mars and back. The first few test runs outside of a lab took the Astronauts 2 months to get from Mars, and back. You should have been there; it was amazing to see them return in one piece.
With Earth's resources rapidly dwindling though, one thing was clear. Mars could now be exploited. Trip after trip after trip was one component and just a handful of people. At first, highly renowned specialists, but when it was needed, laborers were also sent. Bio-domes were created, terraforming too place, and now there's a sweet little green patch on the big red planet.
With constant fighting on Earth, everyone of any nationality got along just fine on Mars. People were growing food, scrubbing carbon. The air wasn't exactly fresh, but we all got along. And that's the important part. Because if we didn't, overcrowding would have become a problem and fights would have broke out. But eventually, the question of "When are we coming back? How are we getting paid?" With roughly half a million people on Mars now, they were starting to wonder if they'd ever see home...
But the other nations didn't play fair. Americans, Russians, Canadians, Germans, Japanese, Chinese... Some of their best people were now gone, away from home. It was always the other nations to make the greatest discovery, and it was always The American Program. Why couldn't it be the Canadian Program? The Russian Program sounded better... With the arms race to defend them, they all forgot one thing... People started to believe that Mars was another nation. They were self sufficient, and in the past 20 years, haven't sent a thing back home to anyone.
At first, it was lies and deceit... But as nation by nation submitted to the checks to verify that there was indeed, nothing coming from far, it was time to get the program under control. Unreasonable demands were made, materials were needed, and neither side would compromise. Earth needed resources, and Mars wanted to go home. No man was to step on earth soil without bringing back a substantial ore deposit back, but no ore could be returned without sending a shuttle to pick anyone up.
So, the first mistake began. Solders were sent to pick up the deposits, something that was strongly frowned upon. With resources wrestled from Mars' colonies, their focus turned from expansion, to weapons development. Next batch of solders came, and nobody would return home.
Fast forward fifty years, corvettes were built, weapons mounted on the ship, but the Martian colony was ready with AA guns over their colonies... Another couple of years and a Martian Space colony could be seen. Corvettes turned from 4 man ships to 30 man freighters... Ships could now only be built in space. Combat was forever changed with the invention of the PSS, or Personal Shield System, but it did not matter, as now Earth was unified. Nobody could board another ship.
It's now 2200. This conflict was to end once and for all... With the SS Aurora. A massive ship, twice the size of the navy's finest sea battleship. She required a steady crew of 7500 men to run and protect. Flak Cannons mounted to most sides and the PSS would watch over her at all times. The FTL engine could get her within range without fear of overshooting and collision. She needed to be deployed early. She wasn't done yet. When Mars attacked, they didn't seem to have any idea, so she hid behind the moon, waiting for the opportunity to strike, but from the dark-side came a surprise attack that would crack and shatter her... To protect Earth's most powerful asset, the FTL engines were engaged.
We don't know what happened... Nobody did, but when the Shield system failed and the torpedoes hit, a lot of people died. Many were sucked out into space, and nobody knows how long the engines were burning at this speed. When she stopped... People started to wake.

Everyone starts with, or can get quick access to the following:
PSS: in the event of the unthinkable, everyone is issued one PSS unit. Having multiple PSS units on your person can conflict with each other and cause discomfort, pain, and even physical trauma. A PSS unit can protect you from one gunshot, destroying the bullet on impact, or significantly lessen the impact from two swings, assuming the enemy has a sharp or blunt melee weapon. It needs to be recharged daily and after any injury.
"Culler" Light Firearm: The Culler is a small handgun designed to keep the peace on a space ship. Quite lethal! Don't get me wrong, but there is virtually no damage to armored targets. What engineers typically wear may get them a little more defense to the Culler. There are 10 rounds a Magazine. Standard personnel may get one spare mag.
HUDGear: Videogames might have inspired this one; HUDGear is simply a pair of shades with a screen built into them. You still have full vision, but the HUDGear will provide a map, IFF system, and will always remind you to recharge your PSS battery if needed. HUDGear will also wirelessly interface with the Ship's AI and has a built in Microphone, so you can tell your loved one if you're going to be working late. Note: Hudgear loses most of its features if the AI is down.
PDA: Your personal Data Assistant. It's your home away from home. Read mail, play games, buy E-books, videos... What have you? Your PDA is your life.
(REQUIRED TO START WITH) ID Badge: You are to have this on your person at all times or the AI will fail to recognize you. You don't want the AI to not know who you are, right? Furthermore, it comes with a pin you can put on your shirt so Security and people who never met you knows who you are, your nationality, and what your job is.

NOTE: There is one slot to apply for the role of a "Spy" PM me for details, a Spy will be chosen at random from all applicants when the game starts. Anyone who publicly requests to be a Spy in this thread will be denied.
Here are some job ideas, and requirements your character must have for being in them.
Security: Requires an excellent ability to get along with others, as well as the ability to be a mediator. Security is also put through more rigorous exercises than regular personnel, and need to be in peak physical condition 24/7.
Navigation: Requires some knowledge in rocket science. Navigation needs to work together with the other teams to plot a course to their destination. You need to be able to plot a proper FTL course down to the nanosecond, and if you're off by a quarter of a degree, you could compromise the integrity of the mission. Don't fuck it up.
Science: You're up to the plate! You need to ensure that most advanced systems those uneducated Engineers don't understand squat about are in peak working condition 24/7. Furthermore, if any anomalies are detected, you need to be on the front line gathering and archiving as much information as possible from it!
Medical: There can only be one reason that anyone could die on this ship and that is natural causes. Nothing else. However, you're on standby. Typically your job is making sure that people with the Flu stay confined in their rooms and taking drugs to get rid of it. In the most extreme situations, should an accident happen, you'd need to treat any injury that rolls up to you in a bed.
Engineering: Got your welder? Good. Oxygen Tank? Better! Your job is to ensure that all systems are running at a mechanical level and that any potential hull breaches are secured, quarantined, and in immediate repair. You need to be better than good with machines... You better be a fucking machine whisperer. Because of anything goes wrong, you only have a welder and nerves of steel to ensure you live.
Misc: There are billions of jobs. And these only bring insight to some of the important ones. Every ship also needs a cook, janitor, even a useless fucking clown, I don't know. If you don't want to be any of these jobs above, tell me what you want to be right here and I'll let you know wither or not you're approved.
In the event of combat, everyone is a solder. If you cannot hold your own in a fight, you have no business to be on the SS-Aurora. There is one sole exception to this, however... Doctors who have taken their oath. While they cannot harm another human being, they are of course, able to fight back and restrain any assailants.

Okay... Perks and Flaws help others gain a numerical insight about your own character's strengths and weakness. Try to shy away from social Perks/Flaws, and stick with skills, or physical conditions. A +2 is something that's absolutely amazing for you, +1 is something you're known for. There are no 0's. A -1 is a bad thing about you, and a -2 is a crippling flaw you have. When added up, your Perks/Flaws will always equal 0. This is an optional part of Char creation.
Here are some examples I carry around.
Shotgun Mastery +2
With Drake, a shotgun is an extension of his own will. If someone is unlucky enough to be close enough to Drake while he olds one of these, Drake will always come out on top.
Photographic memory +1
Ryan is able to remember things quite well, times, places, people... His visual memory is impeccable, and he can recall what you had for breakfast Saturday.
Back injury -1
All those years of hard labor has taken a small toll on Bruce. Doctors tell him he shouldn't lift anything in excess of 50 pounds, and to try shy away from hard labor in tight places.
Technologically Inept -2
John and computers do not get along well. It may take you a quarter of a second to type out the word ?and', but for John, those three letters are an ordeal. To top it off, he hates the bloody things.
