Well, we do have a scientist (yo) and an engineer. With some luck we can figure it out.
Thanks.
Also, is Iskierka Single? Not to sound like a perv, but It'll help me write amusing dialogue for David.
And expect a Nickname for her because I and David have no idea how to pronounce her name.

...Did you read my character bio? The answer is in there... (Answer: single for tragic reasons - she does still wear her wedding ring though)

Pronunciation that I'm going with is:
The "Is" is pronounced like the English word "is"
The "kier" is pronounced like the English words "key" and "air" treated as one syllable (just try to say the two words as quickly as possible and you should be able to make the sound)
The "ka" is pronounced with a "short a" sound

Thus: Is*key-air*ka

Youtube example = http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PMNmhmg1YoM#t=77s
Sorry: not the best example of it in the world given its lullaby origin but I work with what I got

A nickname is fine with me though Iskierka will likely give you a dirty look the first time you use it.

What I MEANT to say was is she looking for another relationship?
(Yes, I read that but fucked up the question.)
She is not, but I expect this will change as the story advances.

The way I see her character is that she is still grappling with the loss of Isaac, but as the pain fades she will begin to move on. She will eventually begin to feel attraction again (followed by the emotional question of "is she betraying Isaac's memory") before finally letting him go and moving on with her own life.

At least that's my plan right now... the events of the story may change this plan (or end it considering all the lethality BeerTent has promised/threatened)

For now, you can run with whatever dialogue ideas you have, just expect your amorous advances to be stonewalled until some later date/time.

This seems cool, I'd like to join, if possible.

Full Name: Dr. Jake Gallows

Gender: Male

Age: 37

Nationality: German-American

Appearance: Short, light brown hair and a short, light brown beard, both kept trimmed and neat. Strong face but he looks a little old for his age, more like a man in his later 40's, it's obvious he was a very handsome man before age did some work on him. Whether on duty or off duty he wears a business suit, very overdressed. He has a pair of black thick square-framed reading glasses that he wears more in his jacket pocket than on his actual face. His eyes are caught somewhere between hazel and green. His shoes are shined like mirrors, his watch looks expensive and he wears a sterling silver wedding band, cut very intricately. He looks like money.

Job: Psychologist (Let me know if this is okay)

Biography: Jake was born in the United States, he always had the ability to read people, he just seemed to know what they were thinking. He grew up in fairly average circumstances, he was quite intelligent but not a genius. Jake was a sensible person growing up, he accepted most people despite their individual differences but he didn't always get along with everyone, he would be described as cold by some, he liked to think he was simply more reserved. He got into a decent college and through struggle managed to eventually attain a doctorate in the field psychology and a bachelors in philosophy. He had a hard time finding a place for himself despite having his credentials. During this phase he met a girl named Stacy and while he just expected her to be another fling, he ended up marrying her within three months of meeting her.

That was nine years ago, now he has two daughters with her, ages eight and six. He has a very successful private practice, he is a psychiatrist. If he has any fault, it might be that he is a little vain, he has a good life and he isn't afraid to admit it or show it. That being said, he is a good man and truly wants to help others, if he didn't he wouldn't be in the field. When he was initially asked to take a position on the SS Aurora, he turned it down because he didn't want to spend extended time away from his family and was genuinely afraid of the martians but after thinking it over, he decided the position was worth it.

Personality: Jake is a nice guy but he isn't a sharing person, he will withhold information if it serves a purpose to him. He can be seen as cold by those he doesn't form genuine connections with. He is clever and good at reading a situation and the people involved in it, he can adapt to a lot of things. When it comes down to it though, he is a father first, a doctor second and whatever the situation calls for third.

Perks/Flaws:
I Know What You're Thinking (+1) (Jake has a tendency to be able to tell when someone is lying to him, telling the truth or generally just the mood they are in. This helps him gauge how someone may react to a situation.)

Thinking of You (-1) (Jake wants to see his family again, more than anything. This gives him drive but it also makes him second-guess risky decisions.)

Full Name: James Eli Stroud (goes by Eli)

Gender: Male

Age: 34

Nationality: Canadian

Appearance: Black short cropped hair that is going grey at the temples, with dark brown eyes, a thin face and brown skin (a trait from his First Nations father). Standing 6" even, but only 165lbs at best he looks almost perpetually starved. He is also missing his right leg from mid-thigh down due to a birth defect. At work he is always dressed in black coveralls and a tool-belt/harness that holds all his tools and equipment, while when off duty he can generally be found in a t-shirt and sweatpants.

Job: Mechanical Engineering Consultant

Biography: Eli was born into an average middle class family on the west coast of Canada. The middle child, and the eldest boy, in a family of five he often found himself left to his own devices while his parents raised his younger siblings, and his older sister did...whatever.

From an early age he found the mechanics of how things function fascinating, endlessly dismantling his toy to see how they worked. While this in and of its self wasn't all that remarkable it was that he also could put them back together, and in some cases make them better, that caught his parents attention.

Throughout his formative years he constantly blew his teachers away his mechanical abilities. At twelve he built a fully functional body for the families AI out of scavenged components, and by the time he graduated high school he actually had started his own company producing AI shells that had all the same features and mobility as the big name brands but for much less.

After selling the company (for a considerable profit) he was accepted into the MIT Mechanical Engineering course, burning through a five year program in three. After leaving MIT he was immediately offered a position with Huntington Ingalls Industries at their orbital shipyard, applying his knowledge to everything from hull and engine design to sensor systems and weaponry. When the 'Aurora Project' began he was tagged to be a seinor engineer on the design and construction of the vessel.

Unfortunately this is when things started to go bad. Eli was overjoyed at the new job, not for the money, but because of the challenge it would pose. That sense of joy shattered when he broke the news to his family at their monthly dinner together, when his father called him a 'war mongering lackey' and his eldest sister threw her drink in his face. Eli had never been one for politics, the war between Mars and Earth had always just 'been there', and had been of little concern to him; what he hadn't realized was that the rest of his family where very much anti-war, his older sisters and mother going so far as to take part in several anti-war protests. That dinner came to an end moments later when he was boldly thrown from his parents house and told to never come back.

Unable to reconcile with his family he threw himself into his work with renewed gusto, in an attempt to get his mind off his personal life. That went well enough until a year ago when a Martian freedom fighter attacked and killed a Dr. Isaac Capek, that fighter was Eli's younger brother who had joined a group of Earth-born fighters who were taking a more 'proactive' approach to how to protest. When this connection was discovered he was immediately pulled from the program, and subjected to several extremely through searches of his life. While the searches did turn up his families' connections to the Martian underground, leading to their interrogation, nothing could be found linking Eli to any of it. After much pleading from Eli and more than a few glowing letters speak of his impeccable character on his behalf from much respected colleagues, he was allowed to return to work albeit with a reduced security rating and pay.

Personality: Quiet and reserved for the most part, he can become very animated when discussing most things in his field of expertise. This is most noticeable if he starts going on about Aurora, as he see the ship as his creation. (On several occasions people have been able to walk away from Eli without him noticing while he went on about something...but he tries to keep it in check.)

Perks/Flaws:
Duct tape and paperclips +2
Due to his innate understanding of all thing mechanical, Eli can build a working machine out of what others would have given up as trash.

After a while all you see is blonde, brunette, redhead... +1
Even though he never trained as a software engineer, his extensive time working on the Aurora's systems has left him with a pretty good understanding of how the computers function.

Stairs, why did it have to be stairs? -2
While Eli does have a high quality powered prosthetic leg that does not hamper his mobility, it was damaged recently and he has yet to find the time to repair it, leaving him with an old fashioned unpowered model that severely slows his movements.

Tarred with the same brush -1
Due to his younger brother being charged as a terrorist, Eli has faced scorn and ostracization from some his peers and colleagues. He does his best to not let it bother him too much, but it means he's not the most sociable person.

Since our characters are already connected and both characters went to MIT, do you want to set it up so our characters knew each other in college, increasing the tragedy level a bit? (friends who became enemies by actions neither could control)

I'll give you a moment to re-think this, because I've seen this before. Having the ability to read others is purely dependent on the information that others give. Others may not provide all information necessary to convey the character's exact thoughts on the situation. If you guess wrong, it's there, it's done, and you won't know until AFTER the other person posted.

He's alright, I'll let him in, but I want confirmation that your okay with what I just said before I add him.

Okay if I make a change to that flaw?

We'll include a little nerve damage, ensuring that prosthetic cannot be repaired. The initial pain can be managed with painkillers. For the most part, when cybernetics are involved, you won't really feel much pain, so that won't slow you down.

Get your eye-patch out, peg-leg! XD Welcome aboard the Aurora! The AI has been tasked to monitor you 13% more closely than other crew-members.

Name: Johann Isaacson

Gender: Male

Age: 46

Nationality: German

Appearance: Johann has short black hair, which he wears in a compusivly neat comb-over. He is around 6ft 2in high. His features are somewhat aristocratic, but in most ways quite ordinary, save for the small scar above his left eyebrow. A hunting accident, he talls anyone who asks. He has light grey eyes, and a small silver stud in his right ear. When out of his private quarters, he will wear a black suit, with no distinguishing labels, a white shirt and black trousers. He occasionally wears a red or black tie. When around colleages, he will wear his suit unbuttoned, but when he is around 'unknowns' he will have it buttoned up.

Job: Representative of the Diplomatic Offfice

Biography: Johann was born to a working class family in Berlin. His farther worked as a Computer Technician at a Data-storage facility, but growing up Johann never showed much interest in computers, to his fathers dissapointment. Johann's childhood was spent either at the local school, where he succeeded in staying under the radar. The fact that there was somthing slightly wrong with him only came to light when he was 13, when he perfectly calmly, and withought hesitation, pushed an older boy off a bridge over a dispute of some sort. Johann was subsequently diagonsed with emotional retardation. The neuorlogical pathways in his brain which cause a person to feel emotions such as empathy and anger did not form properly. However, he was not institutionalised. His disorder was not deemed serious enough to warrant such treatment, despite the protests of the other boys parents, although Johann did have to attend counselling sessions.
Johann has shown a talent for words ever since he could talk. he has always found it easy to convince a person that his opinion is righ. As such, he lead moderatly sized gang during high school. He very nearly went 'off the rails' at the age of 17, when he began to get reports of some of his gang members getting involved with Drug dealers, through his budding network of informants. Luckily for him, he put a stop to it before it brought the police down on him.
At the age of 20, Johann escaped the criminal underbelly of Berlin, and enrolled in a Political Studies course at Berlin University.
His life looked set, until there was an incident at the apartment block Johann was staying at. A tennant pulled a knife on another, one man was stabbed, and the brawl spilled out into the corridor. Somehow, Johann got involved. When the armed man tried to slash his face open, Johann stabbed him with a letter opener (a family relic, the only one the Isaacson's had). The man very nearly died, and although Johann was cleared of attempted murder, he was thrown out of the University.
For two months he existed in a state of limbo, until he was contacted by the Diplomatic Office's Outreach Program's AI
His talent with people and natral penchant for logical and rational thinking at a time when others were panicking ensured his quick rise through the office. He remained a Diplomat for 22 years, travelling extensivly throughout the World, until he was assigned as the Diplomatic liason on the SS-Aurora.

Personality: Although Johann feels some emotions less than others, he is not an automaton. He is capable of forming attachments to people, although he will likely not show that he cares for them much. He expects them to know that he cares for them, and not need confirmation. That said, he is very good at playing the part of the charaismatic diplomat when need be. the fact that he finds it hard to feel anything other than a vague indifference to people he does not like makes it easier for him to talk to people most other diplomats would find difficult to hold a conversation with without getting extremely angry. The indifference he eels towards people he doesnt know or like is chilling, however. he does not feel a speck of empathy for them, and uses logic and facts to dictate his interactions with them. Unless they manage to get him to like them, which is not as hard as some may think. Johann likes many people, he just does not show it. He has a fondness for comedians, and will not like people who talk too much or try to get him to open up. He is naturally a secretive person to those who do not know him extremely well.

Perks/Flaws:
Emotionless(-2)(Johann will not care at all about or empathize with people he does not consider friends. He would stand there and watch them die unless there was a reason to save them, a logical one that is. He will also come off as cold and uncaring to most who meet him.)
Charismatic Stallion(+1)(Johann is exceedingly good at bending people to his point of view. He wins arguments most of the time, and has a talent for bluffing his way into past guards into ares he really shouldnt be in.)
Knife-juggler(+1)(Johann has a natural affinity for knives, and can throw and wield them with unerring accuracy)

I know, I thought of that myself, the poster can change their intent as well, if they feel the urge to dupe my character. So it isn't really that great of an ability, it's just more of a character trait. I don't expect it to necessarily be all that useful in game, it's just something I want to try to run with.

EDIT: The only usefulness I see coming from it directly is it may lend my character to knowing more about everyone's past and personalities in the beginning, considering my position would I have access to such personnel files?

My character had a trait like that originally, but I thought it would be better if he could talk his way past guards, instead of being able to 'read' people. I think the idea that he knows a lot about everyone on the ship is a good idea though.

I'll say yes. You've been able to see some files... If you can find them... You have yet to recompile the data and go through it. The information should be stored in your personal room. So far, you've skimmed through about 25 profiles. You might find the following names to be familiar. J.Stroud, M.Law, D.West, and A.Jefferson. Plus, the 8th, depending on if the almighty 8-sided Die says so.

Nope. The Culler and large numbers are the primary defense against insurgents and lunatics.

We're all in the same team, right? So the chances you'd need to use them are slimmer than winning the lottery.
EDIT: and with the HP rounds included, with someone who's a good should should be able to dispatch 3-5 enemies with one magazine, as there really isn't much cover to be found around here.

The Lottery of Death! :O

Kidding. But, yeah... No batons... If your looking for a melee weapon, a pipe would probably do it for you. Some people have swords in their personal rooms, but 99% of these are decorative.
