That's ALL I need to know to think it doesn't deserve a sequel. It may sound ignorant, but when you've been a gamer as long as I have, you know what to expect from all shooters in general. Let me guess: Lost Planet had gameplay akin to a Gears of War/Splinter Cell hybrid, with more taken from the former. You aim and shoot at things using various weapons, possibly use a cover system of some sort, and have one or two unique gameplay elements like aggro from the Army of Two games or, considering the setting, some kind of thermal-survival majigger.
Whether I'm too far off or not, much of the gameplay is probably very similar to previous shooters, so did we need a sequel to what can essentially be considered, well...a sequel? No.
I don't know, it was the whole feel of it. I like how the t-energy didn't tick down constantly, and I liked the new assualt rifle sound effects, but something was missing. I never played the demo of the first game, so maybe they always make the game better by the time it comes out, but I just didn't really have fun. I was also in a bad mood when I tried it, so that might have had an effect.VonBrewskie said:Wow, really? I liked the demo a lot! What didn't you like about it?dimensione510 said:If the demo was any indication, you aren't missing much.
'cept for Dead Rising. I so love killing hordes of zombies, and with a chainsaw paddle!Kramcake2516 said:Agreed i myself wont be wasting my money ,pretty much gave up on capcom these days so they can go shove it lolAby_Z said:Yea, the demo didn't wow me enough to spark an interest in the game. Not too big a loss.dimensione510 said:If the demo was any indication, you aren't missing much.
I know eh? I mean it's not like DVDs are expensive to make :/Maraveno said:you and me both
Still don't see why they couldn't do multiple dvd's
other games have done it
I loved lost planet one, this one is going to be awesome, its a good day to be a PC playerXzi said:Meh, the whole thing is bullshit...just the developers attempting a power-play for more money, and that's it. Blu-Ray discs do have more space than a DVD, obviously, but at the same time, it's still cheaper to print/distribute a game on two DVDs than it is on one Blu-Ray disc. So why can't Capcom do that? They think Microsoft should be paying them more. Simple.Johnnyallstar said:I'm not surprised. The real question is what is M$ going to do about the next generation, where higher compression is required for more space on the data disk. Whether they use Blu-Ray (lololol M$ using Sony stuff) or they devise their own competing medium, I don't know.
If anything brings about the next generation of Xbox, I have a feeling it is the need for more disk space. Especially with Blu-Ray disks now reported of having compression limits of what, 50gb on a disk? Old DVD-9 ain't looking so good with only 8.5gb on a single sided dual layer disk.
Yet I won't be surprised when Microsoft calls their bluff...Capcom titles aren't worth a damn when compared to what they once were. They sure as shit aren't Mass Effect/GoW quality.
i quite liked the first one as it felt old school somehow, like an old school action/adventure game, whether on purpose or because capcom can't make modern games..The DSM said:Oh no I was so looking forward to it.

The first seemed quite meh and no one else I know was getting it so it doesnt affect me.
Hmm, glad I read this. I was considering getting it on 360, but I think now I'll get it on either pc or ps3.Superfly CJ said:Linkage. [http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=235556?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-News-RSS]
Fanboys: ready, set, go!
But seriously, this can't be right, surely? I can understand something like Mass Effect 2 needing more than one disc, but Lost Planet 2? It must be a huge jump up from the original to warrant enough content to fill an entire disc.
Either that, or Microsoft have pissed off Capcom in some form. Either way, it seems us Xbox gamers have pulled the short straw this time- with no news as to whether we'll ever actually see the cut content on the system.
Discuss.
Xzi said:Not quite entirely. WoW still has expansion packs (gag) and then there's Awakening coming out for Dragon Age soon. They're much rarer, but they do still exist.sidereal_day said:Personally I'm more pissed that DLC has become the norm, instead of traditional expansions. Expansion packs were usually around $30 and included 20-40 hours of additional content. DLC packs generally cast about $10 and include 3-5 hours of additional content. So even at their best, spending $30 on DLC packs will yield 15 hours worth of content, as little as half or less of what expansions had.Orcus_35 said:So you get angry about marketing? Huh.sidereal_day said:Baconmonster723 said:Why does everyone on this forum get so angry about developers and publishers trying to make money on their product? If you don't like DLC or think it's a raw deal, don't buy it. Then come on to the Escapist forums and announce to everyone that you didn't buy it, to satisfy whatever urge it is that makes you do that. Tell everyone that you think Capcom is a greedy money-grubbing machine set out to fuck you over. Problem solved.
everyone on this forum get's angry, not about developers, but about their marketing way of selling the product.
It's not that I don't WANT the extra content for certain games, it's just that I don't want to spend this much on them. So I usually end up reluctantly buying DLC packs, knowing that expansion packs have gone the way of the dinosaur in favor of a marketing strategy which tips the scales heavily to the developers' advantage.
