There are no un-lucky snowdays, every snowday by default is lucky.

If you're not being sarcastic, a snow day is a day where it snows enough so that many services are closed (like schools)

Today, actually. Last night, everything seemed relatively normal around here, but when I left my dorm this morning, I saw the ground covered in snow. I checked my school's website and found that the daytime classes were cancelled. No school for me it seems.

Umm, is that even possible?

Oh right, forgot, not everyone considers it normal when a meter of snow rains down during a single day, and not every country is equipped to deal with that.

I did once experience a 'frost-day', it was -41C. That day, I drank a lot of coffee, stayed indoors and blessed the skies and earth for having a Sinusitis and a fever. Otherwise I'd have been with my squadmates, doing military excersices indoors and waiting for the cold abate. They would have been out, except some of the equipment was getting outdated and couldn't handle the temperatures and so were put in lectures to drill some book knowledge into them.

However, I've never seen a public service cancelled or a private shop/market etc closed due to too much snow or too cold a temperature.

Sure, buses are sometimes late, but even then they do their runs.

I might sound like an idiot but....there's snow in Vegas ? wth ?

It takes at least 2 feets of snow here to stop "non-essential" services but i can understand how 1 or 2 inches would be hard to cope with..in a desert town

Well some cities have 2 snowplows for 150,000+ people, so it takes a while to clear it all out. Also these people are much less used to driving in the snow, causing accidents and traffic jams...

Yeah i have a hard time understanding how 6 inches of snow is the end of the world but to each his own i guess, i'd be terrified in an earthquake or a hurricane... (but a real snow storm 4feets+ with cut power etc dosen't faze me...)

Back on Friday there was a large snowstorm expected. There was no snow, my school is open. I get on the bus and shortly after it starts snowing. The bus driver continues down our route and tells several people not to get on the bus because we'll probably just be sent right back home anyway. We arrive at school sit there for about ten minutes and are then sent home.

Our school was closed for three days because of it a few weeks ago.
It wasn't really lucky, but it was certainly nice. :D

Welcome to Finland. Changing/canceling something because of snow? Never. And we tend to have it quite a lot here. I don't see a problem.

I once had to give a speech later in the school day that I didn't prepare for at all.

After 1 class they had to cancel school because the fire alarms weren't working.

I was sooooo happy.

I live in Erie. We get 120+ inches of snow per year. The most we ever get is a two hour delay. I can only recall one time we've ever gotten a snow day and that was because of ice and took place in 2003.

None.
It was fun the first 2 days but now we are on snow day 10 including today and probably tomorrow.

One day I was on the escapist until 2am because I couldn't get to sleep (I was sick that night also.) I didn't do any homwork so when my mom said there was no school I was very happy.
