Anonymous = Organises attacks based on social ideals.

LulzSec = Just hacking people for the hell of it.

This is why I can tell LS to royally off themselves. Not that there will be much need for it, I mean really, they're trying to hack the *FBI*. That's the group that you specifically do not mess around with- ever. I realise they've played similar cards in the past, but all that resulted were a lot of arrests and criminal investigations.

It's like announcing that you're going to vandalise something- just so you can be arrested later on. What's the bloody point?
Must be Natural Selection of the internet.

correction: it will find these guys toss them in prison and then the NSA will "hire" them :p
The Government no longer takes that stance with hackers anymore. Unless they are uniquely talented or genius with out peer (meaning they are just that good); the government is more about setting an example out of hackers rather than looking for a new hire.

I live maybe 45 min drive from the NSA headquarters, if you take the wrong ramp off the highway towards there complex (next to Fort Meade) you be grabbed for questioning. I forgot what number ramp it is on i-95, but its obvious when you get there. And Off ramp with the instructions of Authorized personnel only, not even state troopers are willing to go up that ramp. And they don't care if you have a flat tire or your engine is on fire, go break down elsewhere, seriously. The whole thing about men in suits ruining your film negatives or in this day of age keeping your flash memory card does happen. The Government does not play around.

There is a reason the old military joke goes "NSA = No Such Association".

P.S. If you do live in the area please do not test out if the Government will do to you if you try to drive up that off ramp towards the NSA. "Don't go tickling sleeping Lions".

Now don't get me wrong, I have no special love for Sony, i play on X-Box. But do you honestly think Sony, a multi-billion dollar international technology company doesn't have at least one IT guy with some hacking experience on board? The problem is as soon as you close one hole, another will open and some must be kept open to keep online commerce open. There is no prefect system. Not only that, being defensive means a they are reactionary, it is hard to be on the attack when you don't know who is going to hack next.

It is not just a simply black and white do this and be safe forever world they work in.
I agree, Sony needs to "up its game" if they want to continue. The initial attacks made their point. This is also a sign that we as people of the 21 century need to change our own attitudes of cyber security. Sony as well as everyone else (that includes Microsoft) needs to stiffen up there security, start trusting security experts instead of lawyers and treat there customers as business partners instead of possible criminals.

You saw that extra credits too then.

Also you misunderstood what I said. I was saying I have a feeling sony is already doing this, but it isn't as cut and dry as hire more goons and armed guards to stand in front of the servers.

They did hire at least three security firms somewhat recently to help revamp their security. However, I have no idea how long that takes (A month for PSN, but they had to completely recreate it), so I can't comment on if the security firms have been doing their jobs or not.

God help them if the FBI figures out who they are. Attacking a government agency in any way can be construed as terrorism. Come on, FBI! Take those bastards down!

It goes a bit further than just claiming that it's terrorism... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.288217-So-I-guess-America-really-takes-their-internet-seriously-Updated-with-new-link#11420744]

I prefer giving corporations the benefit of the doubt because no one else on this site will, and it gets boring if we all agree. Also speaking as a 29/almost 30 year old working a real 9-5 job processing information all day, and I know most people here are 20ish and in school. Recoding, pouring over lines of code, looking for ways to beef things up takes more than a light afternoon. Sony and other corporations will be fighting an ever changing beast to keep their services up and accessible to the customer.

LulzSec is way more chaotic then I imagined...

At least with Anonymous they gave information to the FBI for free of charge during that security scandal. These guys are going to be throw in jail sooner or later....I hope they do since they seem so hypocritical. . .

Chalk me up for Team FBI

In x years time when there are all sorts of internet laws and restrictions, and the goverment will use the internet against us, let it be known that I fucking called it.

Keep rocking the boat, we are all gonna end up sinking, douschebag hackers, anonymous and innocent internet users alike.

Ech, we might have to reschedule that, we have a Shanking Sunday due next week.

OT: HA. HAHA.

It's fine and dandy for these guys to worm their way though a independent company, but once you start trying to break into government agencies...

HA.

NOW things are getting interesting. At this rate, they are bound to learn something about the LulzBoat and perhaps even track a few. If and when they do, they will AT BEST be charged with simple felonies. At worst, they'll be looking at treason and terrorism charges. So let us watch this crime spree unfold, shall we?
I can only hope they are charged with Treason. That can still get you the death penelty, if I'm not mistaken.

OT: Really guys? Why not just kill a cub in front of it's mother and then T-bag the corpse? That is likely safer than messing with the feds.

Oh, well. Good luck in prison guys!

You may be able to jailbreak devices, but I doubt you can jailbreak yourself.

Also, there is a Rebecca Black joke somewhere in here.

Nevermind, made one myself

Seven a.m., waking up in the morning,
Gotta get ready, gotta head downstairs
Gotta have my hacks, gotta have my snacks
Seein? everything , the time is goin?
Tickin? on and on, every?s hackin?
Gotta get into the database
I hear a smash, I see the feds

Kickin? down the front door
Smashin' in the back door
Gotta make my mind up,
How can I escape?

It's Friday, Friday
It?s Fuck FBI Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the hackin?, hackin?
Friday, Friday
Hackin? it on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the break in

Hey yeah, let's give them more attention. I'm sure that's what they don't want us to do.
