Yeah older games, almost all newer ones are forced.
Huh. Guess I just up 'n' hallucinated the gigantic rack of new-release PC games I just saw at Wal-Mart yesterday.
I hope you know steam games come in retail copies as well. I bought fallout new vegas hard copy and still had to use steam.
Ah, see I thought you meant games simply didn't come in hard copy form anymore. Yeah, I will agree that it'd be nice if it was less restrictive, but Steam is one of the better (and less restrictive) DD platforms out there. I think we'll see a lessening of restraint in the near future, especially when people see the success of sites like GOG.com that have NO DRM.
We argued over a simple misunderstanding. Sorry if I wasn't very clear about what I was talking about. I do support things like GOG sense they are way less restrictive then steam from what I've heard. I hope you're right about seeing less restrictions in the future. I wish pc gamers would actually speak out against it more aggressively though instead of just accepting the way they are treated. People accept steam and I do understand that it isn't nearly as bad as some other systems. I'm not that ignorant, but I feel that isn't good enough, steam still feels like a system that treats pc gamers like criminals only with a little extra to make it seem like they aren't.

Not saying this is funny at all, but to all the Xbox fanboys who laughed when PSN went down and said Microsoft would never let that happen. Never happened, alot sooner than you thought. Now that I've said that... I have to change my Xbox passwords to something I can remember.

I love all these trolls. They think they're accomplishing things and making an actual impact on the lives of others. As has been proven by Charlie Sheen, it's funny to see stupid people be stupid.

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/24144/LulzSec-Reportedly-Targets-Xbox-Live-Account-Info/

The exact amount of information released is unknown but lulsec claims that the file was viewed thousands of times before being taken down.
what was that bout Xbox having better security than the PSN? what is another BS excuse you have for paying $60 a month? What? Where are the nay sayers that didn't stand by their PS3 brethren and only kicked them while they were down?

Yea. GIANT. MIDDLE. FINGER. TO. YOU.
X-Box Live does have better security than the PSN, because it hasn't been breached or hacked.

The supposed X-Box Live user info is from other sites that have been hacked, where the people have used the same e-mail and password for those sites as they do for X-Box Live.

A website can have the best security in the world, but if some of it's users let other people know their log-in details, then that security doesn't count for anything.

X-Box Live has only been "hacked" in the same way Steam is "hacked" everyday when it's users fall for phishing scams and give their passwords away, i.e. it hasn't been hacked at all, it's just that some of it's users are idiots who use the same e-mail and password for every site they visit.

That Team X-Box article is full of shit and is just reporting the same 62,000 password list story that emerged last week, but spinning it to make it appear like a new and dangerous occurrence.

This is a far more accurate and responsible telling of the tale: http://www.vgrevolution.com/2011/06/xbox-live-was-not-hacked-by-lulzsec-not-directly/

This really has to end....why can't someone...anyone find out who these people are?

Ugh...time to report another credit card lost and or stolen.
Oh they can. The NSA/FBI probably already know who these people are. But there's no point in arresting them until there's enough evidence against them. Plus, many of these people live in countries other than the US - plenty of "anonymous" members were found in Turkey and Spain, and even if the US knows who these people are they have to co-operate with local authorities to catch them.

I'll bet that some of the Lulzsec people have already been caught, and have now been rolled and are working for the FBI (it's ridiculously easy to intimidate hackers once you're face to face with them, or so the police say). It's only a matter of time.

I wouldn't put most Lulzsec members in jail. They've been annoying but it's not like they've killed anyone. And most of them are just stupid kids. Give them community service... perhaps a month in jail, just to scare em. I know I'm a big softy, but it's not like these Lulzsec people are monsters from Jupiter.

Well I guess this means Steam'll be next on their list, they've hit all the console devs.
If you use Steam Guard you should be fine.

I don't ever take pleasure in the suffering of others...but I could make an exception if they allowed cameras to follow these hacker's lives in prison once they get caught.

Hopefully they actually do something to Valve instead of getting their info just to prove they can.
Valve needs to be taken down several pegs, then have sharp pegs driven through them.
....may I ask why?

Is it just that their distribution network is so fucking awesome? Is it that their DRM is negligible, and non intrusive?

Honestly, whats the problem with Valve/Steam?

P.S.
What is that Microsoft? What was that about how your *Awesome* paid service is totally *TOTALLY* secure?

What does crow taste like? Hrm? Does it taste bad?
Good.

This is getting more tiring and less lulzy. This is becoming more tedious than amusing as scanning these pages makes me hate them more.
Also: Solve-media captcha helped me learn about the work the American Cancer society does.

Well it seems they aren't fanboys... Still, screw you LulzSec. (I'll admit a few hacks have been quite Lulzy though.)

Lulzsec did not hack Xbox Live or Microsoft. If you've been following their Twitter feed, they are supposedly off "for the weekend". Not to mention that the passwords and emails they've posted are from entirely random websites. Even Lulzsec has admitted that they don't know what sites they're from, or if they even work. In addition, Major Nelson himself has confirmed that there is no breach of Xbox Live. Finally, if Lulzsec did hack Microsoft/Xbox Live, you bet they'd be making Tweets about it. They're pretty public about what they do.
This guy seems to know what he's talking about. The logins were not taken from Microsoft. There are Yahoo emails addresses, Gmail addresses and all other variants of the email spectrum in this list. The list will just be from a site that uses your email for a login and the people with thier Live accounts affected would just be the people who use the same password for everything.

I wouldn't be that easy-going. You'd still need to make sure they didn't get your email account and password.

But for the most part, I agree.

Though you can't change my opinion, I would also like to add to that list people who don't have internet, and before you say anything. I know people without internet or really slow internet. People who DON'T have it may want to play that knew retail game they thought they could play only to find out it's impossible because it requires the internet to download.

Bluray movies also come in dvd form so that doesn't even work. With steam you don't get a choice to just use the old cd key method.
Wait, so do you have a problem with the DRM that EA put onto retail (Read: Physical) copies of Darkspore? A game that, in single-player, literally cannot be played unless you have a constant internet connection 100% of the time?

I could be wrong because I try to not use Steam anyway, but if you buy a hard copy, can't you open Steam in Offline mode and play the game after it has been installed?

Just checked the list, I'm safe.

For now.
Do you have the list? Could you look for me on there if I told you my name?
