I really hope someone else can see the irony here.
Irony? Do tell. Though granted, better might not have been the right word. More specific, perhaps.
Okay, everyone else is doing it. That's nice.
Why is everyone doing it?
For someone who says they were born with Safari in their hand, you don't know a lot about Mac OS X.

No, I knew about that, but here's the thing: Damn near everyone uses Windows. Why would you take the time to write a virus for a system that few of us use? Secondly, the article suggests anti-spyware not to protect against pre-existing viruses, but to help protect against anything that might be made in the future,
...making the whole virus writing process more difficult.
Moreover, though it's a good idea to run several antivirus programs, it's not next to mandatory as with the predicament for Windows. And third, you're missing the point of what I was trying to say in my first post.
Outside of personal preference, what valid points has Apple's advertising made to you?
The fact that it has pretty much anything you'd need for editing and artwork pre-installed on the mac (including a built-in camera); that it doesn't freeze nearly as often as Windows (or at all, in my case); the whole business with the viruses; that I can run either OS on a Mac, freeing up entertainment choices; that it runs Microsoft Office (though I use NeoOffice anyway). Just to name a few. Again, however, missing the point.
You're not realizing that Microsoft isn't here to try and win the OS competition.
They already have.
You seem to be barking up the wrong tree here. I'm not trying to say which side is better, or who is trying to do what to who. I'm just saying that I like Mac's to-the-point "Look what I can do" style of advertising better than to Microsoft's "We're all PCs" advert. I'm not trying to convert anyone here, and I really wasn't going into superiorities of either side in my first post anyway. Both sides have pros and cons, and it's just a matter of choice. Just because someone doesn't agree on the quality of advertising doesn't mean they're trying to burn down the other side's rose garden.
I don't give a damn about the OS competition. I just like the way Mac makes their commercials more, and part of that is from trained bias. The commercial isn't influencing my opinion on which one to buy, and it's not making me laud/loathe one side or another. I'm just stating an opinion on your original subject.
Sheesh, not even here can someone make a contrary statement without getting a cattle prod shoved up their arse.
