It was cute in the beginning, but after a while, Mac's adds become more and more desperate. And annoying.

Then PC totally crushed Mac with the kids saying "I'm a PC and I'm 8 years old" and the like.

Which is rather true because real life doesn't have a white sheet in the background.

Also Windows 7 looks great.
I'm actually bothered by the Windows advertisement with the little kid. I know they're going for the "It's so easy, I can do it and I'm only 8!" idea but it wouldn't be hard to raise a kid knowing nothing BUT Windows, especially at that age. Am I supposed to believe that she really made an educated decision among all the possible OS's and variations out there to stick with Windows at the age of 8?

Heck, I didn't know about other OS's but Windows until I was 16!
Okay...

Obviously your kid won't know how to work everything, but the point is, you can teach your kid to do stuff in a specific field of the OS and they will have no problems.

I honestly hope you don't expect a kid to be aware of the differences between Windows and Mac OS...
If I take what you first said (about raising your kid in a specific field of an OS) to be the point of the commercial then the commercial works and makes sense to me.

And what you're saying about a kid being aware of other OS's is exactly my point: I can raise a kid on almost any OS and I'm sure they'll love it just fine without any problems but put that kid on a commercial stating "I'm a [insert OS name here]" defeats the purpose because the kid didn't really choose that OS, they were handed it.

The idea of the Windows commercials to me mean "My name is [blank] and I choose to use a PC". To get (relatively) un-biased people to admit they prefer PC's, but that goes out the window (no pun intended) when you put a kid on the commercial who is almost definitely biased by what they were handed.

I don't expect a kid to know the differences between OS's and make an informed decision, but don't put them on a commercial claiming that they choose one over the other.

I prefer microsofts "Everybody has one so why don't you" approach to the macs "at least were better than them" approach.

What I want to see is a PC advert that has someone go "I'm a PC... HYRK!", start gagging, vomit blood then die.
Also when someone introduces themselves as a mac for them to get punched in the face and told to piss off back to his middle class, superior neighbourhood where everyone is probably a vegetarian.

No no no, they're not saying the kid CHOSE it, they're saying it was super-easy for the kid to do it. You don't need to make out the differences between OS's if one of the two lets you do what you want in a snap. I think you could clearly see in the add that she wasn't hesitating or anything so she knew what she was doing.

What this is is simply trying to get the parent to not only buy the OS for themselves but make sure their kid wont have trouble with it.
Then I suppose it makes sense yeah

Well, I've only seen the UK ones and its Mitchell(PC) vs Webb(Mac). PC wins every time.

Microsoft comes along and makes the one "I'm a PC" ad (link up there somewhere^), which takes the higher path and doesn't mention Mac at all and what is the first thing Mac does?
