Just wanted to see how my fellow escapists did at the prerelease, and what you all got. My record was 2-3-0.

My deck (Red and Blue):
1x Twincast
1x Ball Lightning
1x Phantom Warrior
1x Wall of Frost
1x Berserkers of the Blood Ridge
1x Magebane Armor
1x Zephr Sprite
1x Shatter
2x Sage Owl
1x Firebreathing
2x Merfolk Looter
1x Prodigal Pyromancer
1x Raging Goblin
1x Kindled Fury
1x Rod of Ruin (foil)
1x Illusionary Servant
1x Gorgon Flail
1x Essence Scatter
2x Lightning Bolt
1x Serpent of the Endless Sea
1x Alluring Siren
1x Disorient
8x Mountain
8x Island

Some rares I couldn't use:

Rootbound Crag
Drowned Catacomb (foil)
Honor of the Pure
Mesa Enchantress

Also, what do you think of the set in general?

It looks like a cool set. I didn't do the prerelease, but I'm excited for the release tourneys.

How did the new rules work out in the prerelease? Anything annoy the crap out of you yet?

I used to be into this game. I plan on selling my cards if anyone is interested.

Well, general confusion over the rule changes seems to make a bigger difference than the actual rule changes. Like, one person actually thought that, with the new rules, the blocker got to decide how to assign combat damage to their own creatures during combat, rather than the attacker.

Trample + deathtouch is also really gross here. Since deathtouch became a static ability, equipping a deathtouch inducing equipment to a ball lightning meant that it only needed to deal one damage to a creature to be lethal and roll over it.

That's...kind of stupid.

Especially on something like Ball Lightning or Nova Chaser or something like that.

Got a Darksteel Colossus or Platinum Angel by chance? I could use some for my standard deck. I'm not sure how I'd pay you, though.

I didn't go, but the boyfriend did and went 3-1. Was rather nice for him, since he'd been having rotten luck playing against friends. He managed to get an Ajani planeswalker in one of his game booster packs. :)

I actually have very few of the new stuff. Most of my collection is from around the tempest to around judgment or prophecy, Im not entirely sure. Ill probably put them on e-bay soon.

I played at a local store because they didn't have enough players and was 2-2. One of my losses was my inability to not pick anything but land cards. I only play casually and had never played experienced people so I'm still rather proud of my performance.

Tempest and Prophesy are fairly old, especially since they're out of extended, but Judgement isn't that old.

True. I was more referring to the fact that he qualifies Mirrodin as new.

Everyone gets mana screwed or flooded from time to time. I only got two lands during one game and they were both islands.

There used to be a time when two Islands were all you needed.

Well, not when half your cards are red.

Think you missed the joke.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Tempest, two Islands usually meant Counterspell was in your hand, and was one of the strongest starts in the game at that time. This persisted until 8th edition, when it rotated out.

I havent played magic in a little while - these new rules seem silly - unless a creature has an a ability to shield smaller creatures then surely the attacker should assign damage. Deathtouch/Trample would also be fallable without first striek as combat is dealt simultaniously and deathtouch does not (should not) resolve until end of combat!

but alas I am not a judge, nor do I make the rules. it just all seems illogical to me.

Ah, sorry. I was incompetent at magic back then.

I didn't go, but I've been drinking Jones for over ten years. For $0.99 a bottle, you can never go wrong.

Except cans. The cans taste terrible.
