Come up with a game, just a name and a back story or whatever, let's see how creative we all are with this sort of thing.

Demon Apocalypse:

A scientist working at an observatory with his wife, survives a large-scale attack on Earth by hostile robots intent on enslaving all organic races.
Their initial attack results in many thousands of people dying, due to the robots belief that the best way to enslave is to murder some as an example so the rest will surrender or be demoralised.

The scientist and his wife try to make it to a safe area in the observatory, but the robots break in and he witnesses his wife being murdered.
In the room he made it to, he goes insane and a great anger wells up inside of him, the energy of all those who have died builds up around him due to his anger being the most powerful in the area.
This allows a demon to breach through from another dimension.

The demon explains all this when asked the why, what and how questions, he also explains that demons work as a sort of balancing force, for when a powerful force is decimating many, unchallenged, which is why a great anger and the energy of many dead is needed for one to appear.

Asking the scientist if he wants to be the demon to balance it all out and exact revenge, a moment of thinking is done and a simple yes is uttered.
The man floats and a dark aura emanates from him, the white of his eyes turned black, his skin paled and strange new powers developing inside of him, the demon says it can communicate with him via his powers now and departs back to it's own dimension.

He is told there is a great amount of power given from the initial gaining of the powers, a result of the many energies used to summon the demon, which allows the the scientist to smash through many robots and run up the alien spaceship and rip his way inside.

The robots take off, attempting to dislodge the scientist via decompression of the area he entered through, but his powers allow him to stick to surfaces and survive in hostile environments.
Further smashing his way into the ship, he reaches the navigation room with all essential robots in it.
He quickly dispatches all of them and tries his best to make sure the ship stays on course towards the robot base, but the ship is shot down by an organic race at war with the robots.

The ship impacts into the planet that shot at the ship, the scientist is propelled through the air as the front of the ship smashes due to excessive weapons damage.
The alien race quickly rushes to the ship to make sure no robots get out in functional condition and the scientist surprises them when he chucks a piece of debris the size of a truck back at the ship so as to get up.

They attempt to talk but quickly realise that they can't understand each other.
The aliens remotely access the robot ship's database for information, as the robots normally learn the language of species they want to enslave so as to give them commands.
Downloading the language data of the entire human race and giving the scientist a small device which will automatically translate them for him and him for them, they communicate.

So, that's the basic story. I have it planned that the main character would have access to demonic powers, like tentacles and other such things that look very dark and "evil".
Like punching through robots with darkness covered fists and such.

But, I'm a story type of guy, so that's what I worked on first.

Anyway, let's see what everyone else has got.

A first person shooter with a leveling system and the entire story depends on you catching up with a evil billionaire that just blew up your country. The setting is in Spain and the title of the game is "The Devil's In Spain". Nothing in-depth but it works for me. (I just enjoy the title)

So, it'd be like Duke Nukem and Alpha Protocol in a blender with a kind of Enzio-style main character?

Meh, I'm thinking more of a team thing with blank, mute soldiers Resistance 2 co-op. If you haven't played it....(my impression of) Boarderlands without names and defined faces.

Mankind is yet to Recognize my Genius.

The year is 2168. Science is soft, welcomes are warm, and diabolical mastermind Friedrich von Gugenzvail is on the loose. His IQ is over nine thousand, and his ambitions are even bigger. He only has one problem - his Number Two slammed the door on his way out,and he needs a new one. That's where you come in.

This game would be kinda like Saints Row meets Just Cause meets Mercenaries meets Team Fortress 2... IN SPACE! And Yahtzee would write a script - i'm not too good at full storylines. I won't give away any more details, because i'm writing it right now,and it's totally insane.

Maybe instead of blank and mute, Saint's Row 2 style custom characters?
Face, voices, hair, body, etc.

"And now, you d-!"

"Fuck off, mate!"

Interesting, I assume this game would involve using untold numbers of jackbooted thugs to murder people and awesome pistol executions when you step in and impress the thugs with your calm and cool style of fighting?

Never thought of that, if you couldn't tell I more for the gameplay over story and customization. I imagine myself as an evil dictator, whipping the gaggle of writers and designers into making something amazing. Just like Bobby Kotick.

Except Kotick wants money, not innovation.

One of my side ideas for a game is called Elemental (working title)...

In the bombed out ruins of Jenerikstahn, a young man called Rasheed finds a tablet with an ancient spell written on it. He reads it, and gradually discovers he can control air. He also discovers that, across the world, there are three others like him - an American marine who can control water and who has recently gone AWOL, a paraplegic Oxford linguistics professor who has used his power over Earth to allow himself to walk again, and has built up a cult based on old beliefs of giants and old gods and a harem dancer who believes she is a reincarnated Efreet. Rasheed also finds out that the four of them are linked with an ancient prophecy that says that the world will be destroyed if the balance between them is lost.

After a time of him helping people in his village with his new-found powers, the Marine shows up and tries to steal his tablet to get his powers, but that backfires and Rasheed gets his tablet instead. From then, he's on a timer to get the other two tablets from the other two people before the planet is destroyed. All he has is a basic identity and rough location of both of them, and he has to go around the world tracking them down, with more and more natural disasters happening around him as the world starts being destroyed. If he takes too long to find them, elementals start appearing to personally destroy the world, and he can defeat them for more time.

After he gets all four tablets, he gets all the powers of all four elements, but the resulting magical shockwave opens a portal to another world where he has to go and defeat a group of Elementals thst started it all in an attempt to destroy Earth. After he beats them, he uses his powers for one of several endings, depending on how he got the tablets, and in what order. There WILL be a moral choice system, but it won't have any affect on gameplay, just the ending - for example, Rasheed can fight and kill the professor, convince him to give up the tablet, or use his powers of water to heal him so he doesn't need the power to walk any more.

Inevitable multiplayer note! Games would go four-way rather than two, with every player getting an attack, defence, healing ability and "speed boost" power based on their element that does the same thing, but looks different. A CoD-style perk system allows you to upgrade them based on perks you have unlocked - better perks are unlocked for more and better uses of certain powers.

Like I say, it's just a side note. It's got a LOT of room for improvement. :)

I have a perfect game idea, but there's not enough room in these forums for me to put it all down. Plus It's in a collection of notebooks and sketchbooks, so it would take hours upon hours to jot it all down and scan all of my pictures.
Soz.

Interesting... a game idea so big it would take a very long time to even talk about?

You should perhaps get a team together and make a basic flash version of this game.

Sounds like a modern day Last Airbender, in a sense.

I like the OP's story but everyone else's are great, too.

I haven't thought of a name yet but mine features a cute, little, fowl-mouthed, blue alien named Tek who has a giant robot arm (adds to the cuteness somehow. just trust me). He works on a junk yard planet with a bunch of other aliens like him, watches too many scifi action movies, does not fit in with the rest of his kind, and really wants to leave home.

One day he finds a strange monster at work and hides it from his coworkers after saving his life. As scary as it is, Tek bonds with the beast and they become best of friends. Tek learns how to ride the beast and tame it for when they might be in public. However, an intergalactic search team learns about the beast and tries to find and kill it. Tek and the beast manage to escape the planet and meet a secret group dedicated to find the beast. I'm still working on what happens next.

Gameplay: It would be a platform/shooter with some sandbox levels. You can also get cybernetic upgrades for new weapons or new equipment.

Still needs some shining.

There's a lot of stuff about your concepts that you might not be able to come up with straight away and will refine later on, probably a few hours or days after posting.
Comes with posting on a forum, really.

For instance, my main character's rather humorous choice of more "suitable" clothes for slaying "evil" being an hawaiian shirt, a trench coat, jeans and trainers.
One of his "super modes" is smashing two robotic enemies in the face, ripping their guns out of their hands and blasting the ever loving crap out of everything that looks remotely hostile, starting with the two he just hit and disarmed.

Oh this sounds like a fun thread. I better consult the generic action game machine.

The Windsturm:
500 years ago there was a nuclear war that, while not wiping out like, was very devastating for the inhabitants of this planet, which is named... um... "Exion".

The war was cleaned up, however, and nature recovered. Societies rebuilt.

However, as a remnant of this catastrophe, a genetic anomaly, known windstrum (as named by the scientist who first discovered it within himself, and often referred to as strum), is present in the population. Strum manifests itself when the "Carrier" is put under stress, be that bullying, or intense labor. Even stressful office work.

The symptoms of strum include a change of hair colour to white, and the darkening of eyes colours to black. Other factors include increased intelligence and memory, as well as increased dexterity and balance. Some are noted to radiate a faint light, but that is just rumour. (Not to the point of crazy xmen powers).

Over the past few years strum has increased in frequency. Those people who are affected by it are ridiculed. They are fired from their jobs for no particular reason. Evicted from their homes, and even banned from certain regions. The emphasis of modern society, in order to avoid this "condition" is to ensure that nobody encounters stress of any kind. For those living in the "exclusion zone", the world might seem to be a perfect place.

However, for those who are evicted, life is quite the challenge. Forced to live in "safe regions", countless people, formerly doctors, scientists, teachers and criminals, try to live out their lived in fear of a constant and cruel military force.

You begin your game in the story of Elyne, an 8 year old girl.

She lived a happy life in a region of the exclusion zone, named Maylin. A region noted for its shopping centres and high quality education suites. Inhabitants also enjoy a lively night life where there is minimal crime and no curfew.

Things change for the worse when Elyne's mother Leyanna, is diagnosed with strum. Following the usual course, chosen by politicians, Leyanna is relocated to a safe area. As Elyne has nobody else to care for her, she also goes with her mother.

***Game starts with Elyne on a street to get groceries from a local shop. Coming from a much cleaner and safer city, neither Elyne or her mother are aware of the dangers that exist here. Supplies are available, enven if not the type of shops she has grown up with, but at least she was moved to an area where supplies make it through most of the time. While not as rich as an exclusion zone, the safe zones have a thriving economy in just about any type of trade or product one can think of.

On her way back, Elyne is Kidnapped or something. Either was she is taken to the home of the villain for the beginning of the game. (But of course, later on there is a plot twist that changes who the real villain is). Either way, Elyne undergoes Windstrum manifestation and attempts to fight her way out.

There are isolated reports of chidren undergoing Windstrum manifestation. However, these reports indicated that manifestation is much stronger in children. As such, Elyne is much stronger than most adults, much faster and has a strong electric glow. The glow makes her more visable, however, she can focus the energy into electric shuriken (cause thats a wonderful idea!!!!), or she can repress the glow and become almost invisible to her opponents. Also her hair turns purple instead of just white.

This idea would be great on a 3rd person game such as the batman engine.

A game with open world traveling such as Assassin's Creed, set in the Zelda universe. Throughout the game, you get different items from different games. (The items from the Oracle of Ages games, the Minish Cap, etc.). But, it has a moral system similar to Fable, being, you can fight anyone you want, and be an evil tyrant, you can be neutral, or you can be the hero.
