I grab a truck from the car dealership (they still have a lot of cars apparently) and attach a snow plow to it, driving the sand into the hole and eventually clearing the surrounding area of the grainy yellow material.
"There is sand all up in my underwear, this is not funny guys. And apparently there is fire, how is sand on fire? Honestly Zombie, I can't trust you to obey the simplest laws of nature. Nice mech Salt."
The ring begins to turn, slowly at first, but gradually climbing to an incredible speed. It transcends a blur and moves faster than the eye can perceive. Static electricity arcs from the star in several bolts, striking the base supports and creating a resonance cascade.
A bolt of lightning hits Knife, teleporting him to a barren, rocky outcropping somewhere on the edge of the universe. It is hollow and lifeless. No man should belong here.
He flashes back to the core. The fighters stumble about as the core room is rocked to its foundations. Salt trips and bangs his head on a steel beam, knocking him unconscious. Grim glances at Knife and makes a break toward him, reaching out his hand. Knife vanishes as the tips of Grim's fingers brush his coat.
Knife stands at the edge of a shallow lake. A thunder storm roars over a tall peak in the distance. A small object reflects the light of the storm at the top of the mountain.
He travels again, finding himself waist deep in a marsh. It is humid, and the thick air nearly chokes him. Fog covers the surface of the lake, with only reeds to show where the water ends and dry land begins.
Something under the water causes the reeds to sway ever so slightly. It draws Knife's attention. He stares at the water's surface for what seems to be an eternity. At last he breathes a sigh of relief, only to be jumped by a loan shark and dragged below the surface. He teleports as he crashes into the water, landing on a car's windshield. He bounces off and plummets down the side of a seemingly endless high-rise.
He weaves in between the traffic of flying vehicles. He looks to the side and sees a city more advanced than any of our own.
He vanishes before hitting the concrete, instead smacking face first into dry desert rock. A precious pint of blood spills from his mouth, along with a few broken teeth. He wipes his bloody mouth with the sleeve of his coat.
Knife climbs back up onto his feet. A tall spire, at least two miles high and several more miles away, looms ominously in the distance. An even larger airship dominates the sky. A single point shines at the top of the tower, much like the one at the top of the mountain moments ago.
He notices a familiar face standing in front of him. She turns around and smiles.
In the Mall, lightning arcs around

and strikes him. He gorges himself on the star's energy, but realizes it cannot stop its repulsive feast. Its tentacles wave helplessly, banging against the walls as the beast is cooked from the inside out. The oxygen in the room is lit ablaze, burning away

flesh. Its smooth black exterior warps, becoming a cracked, singing mass of scarlet flesh.
In the core room, the star has become malformed. It shrinks into a small, pulsating orb as it expends the metric shit ton of energy needed to destroy the beast.

roasts for several more minutes. Any further attempts at description are discouraged. The horrifying death of this most noble of horror-terrors only gets worse from here.

charred remains lie motionless. A single black tear is shed from its unsettling eye.
Knife wakes up on his back, staring up at the core room's ceiling.
[sub]OOC: From now on, whatever high quality content I post will have the artists referred to in spoiler tags. That way we can refer to other works by the same artists as well as avoid taking down uncredited sources if someone throws a fit.[/sub]
"Yes!" I look around. "Knife leapt in and out, looks we got a Half Life 2 on our hands." I sniff the air and quickly put my gas mask back on. "Hey Xot! We get a drop or something for this right?"
"We just did the impossible and killed a star-spawn of an ancient god. The Mall has essentially been ruined. One of our fighters is dead and gone. The other two have been missing for hours... And you're asking for a weapon drop."
"It's evidently not impossible if we just did it. And we know that the mall is self repairing, as well as having that freakish janitor roaming around. And he'll respawn if he is dead, or make it back to us if he's fine. Surely you can use your control of the mall to find him and bring him back?" I kick up thin plumes of the remaining sand and look around me.
I sit up, clutching my forehead and nursing what feels like the worst of my life (Not that I know what a hangover actually feels like but i digress). "Ugh, someone get the number of that car...and that shark.....and that sand dune." I say, by voice slightly distorted from my (Lack of) teeth.
"Ugh, you never said I'd be sent on a fucking crazy teleporting spree!" Knife yells, before giving another groan of pain. "Ugh, that shit was crazy man, fucking insane."
Xot is a little stunned. He knew full well the consequences of overloading the core would lead to a resonance cascade. He did not anticipate someone managing to break out of the Mall, if only temporarily.
"I'm calling it in. You guys get up here and get patched up... We've got a lot to talk about."
[HEADING=1]Intermission...[/HEADING]
The final battle of Act 1 will be fought between Mall Team and Connor Lonske as
Code:
FLUTHLU
. It will take place right before the resonance cascade. As soon as Connor, Waffles, Tox, Paddy, and Zombie give me the green light we can start. In the meantime, I gotta sleep. Good night guys.
"Damn it. I wasn't fast enough. Sorry Knife, I couldn't get to you in time. I then see a camera feed of FTHULU getting roasted on my helmet's HUD, ."He got fucked up. So what now?"
[OOC: I'll be ready for the fight between now and the next 6-7 hours.]
I sheepishly accept that I fucked the mall up. A lot. I help clean up, and even get it to stop. When Knife returns from his teleporting adventure, I have to ask, "Has the world changed much since we entered?"
I remember I still have some drugs in my bag, pull down my gas mask and light a blunt. I hand a modded walkie talkie to everyone nearby. "No idea what kinda shit the mall'll pull next. It might help to be in touch." I prep my sniper rifle.
