Inuyasha, Bleach, Full metal Alchemist, Claymore, ect. so many anime shows out there and to add on so many good one's also. so what is your fav. anime show and if you could be any magna character who would it be and why.

Personally I loved wolf's rain (why would they stop showin' it is beyond me) an if i could be a character it would have to be Rigardo silver eyed lion king from claymore, because he can transform in to a big ass lion = D (lions ftw)

That's alright, I saw you type it that way twice so I wasn't sure if you knew. I have a problem where I tend to capitalize the first two letters of a sentence instead of just the first.

My favorite Manga is Hayao Miyazaki's "Nausicaa", which I would say is the Japanese Equivalent of either Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, take your pick.

As well I would recommend Battle Angel Alita, for those of you who like cyborgs, philosophy and extreme violence. Pick up the first 9, enjoy the rather good ending, and then wonder why Battle Angel: Last Order exists, though it is still awesome.

Lastly, the Full Metal Alchemist Manga is superior to the anime in every way, though both are excellent stories.

The Full Metal Alchemist manga is a must, it eventually takes off on a different plotline than the Anime, but that doesn't make it worse, just different. An excellent read.

Ranma 1/2 is another good one, a long series however, very long, so, in some of the later books the humor gets a little stale, as there are a number of gags the author reuses. Also, since this is a comedy manga, it also contains a lot of the tropes that many people state as being why they dislike anime: the harem, the overly hot girls, underwear humor, the angry girlfriend etc. Most of it however is played for laughs. There's also quite a bit of nudity, mostly topless. Definitely not one of those manga to show your parents, even though it's mostly PG-13 stuff at worst.

My favorite manga is Berserk, despite the excrutiating wait between chapter releases. My favorite anime right now is Gundam 00. I really liked Bleach at first, but it has really sucked lately, even the episodes that aren't filler don't seem to live up to the series' initial awesomeness. Other ones I've recently gotten into are Claymore, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. All of these are the fansub versions btw.

I'd like to add both Naruto and One Piece to the thread. Yes, they're both essentially children's/young adult books, but damn if I didn't have fun reading both! They're just genuinely fun. And One Piece in particular, it's crammed full of little details that make you smile, things like little arts and crafts cut-outs, colouring pages and such. Yes yes yes, all very kiddie I know, but, it's all so very joyful to see these things, I get all fuzzy inside :p

One Piece is the only long running series I will read/watch because of the insane creativity behind it.
(long running series = Naruto, Bleach, DBZ etc.)

I currently own the 18 books of Fruits Basket that are licensed in the UK (to my knowledge no more are currently licensed here, though they'll come out soon). I feel I'll be somewhat in the minority who enjoys Fruits Basket considering the current tastes shown in the thread, but dammit I loves that series.

Having read Last Order, I just regret the fact Kishiro had to end it prematurely the first time due to unspecified personal trauma. The ending to the first run is a last minute rush job that's alright, but not really as good as the rest of the series.

The movie was excellent as well. I recommend basically anything by Miyazaki.

Technically it's not manga, but it is influenced by manga as well as American comic books. And it's a web comic.

No Need for Bushido, I mean.

It's pretty good, actually. Parodies abound, and it's primarily comical in the beginning, but as you get further into the series, the action and drama really pick up. It's pulled off really well, too. The plot is amazing as well. Even before the comedy backs off for the action, there's a sense of drama and a deep storyline.

not so much into manga, but like the OCCASIONAL anime. Kannazuki No Miko happens to be my fav. If I could be any character it would have to be Roy Fokker from Robotech, yeah he dies pretty early on, but he's still pretty badass.
