I have a very weird mind, I get emotionally attached to a character in a story (writen only, it doesn't seem to happen when I can't give each character a voice in my head) so if they're upset it gets to me too, it's really bizarre

I used to cry when hearing this one song called Flames by a band called VAST. I don't anymore, but to date, it is the only song to have moved me to tears.

I don't know how you confined yourself to only "Flames". That entire album is high octane weepy-fuel.
I always tear up for "Io seguo il mio destino" from Madama Butterfly too but I don't think I've ever sprung an actual leak for either.

OT - The last time I shed manly tears of manhood was watching Wolf's Rain. I don't think I was able to watch 3 consecutive episodes without having to fight back tears at least once. The times I was successful I considered it a personal triumph, but if you don't cry at least once during that series you've got to be made out of stone.

OT: I can't get immersed enough in films for them to make me cry (as far as I remember >.>), but Lirum's actual death scene in Lost Odyssey got me pretty damn close to it. That is one hell of a depressing game.

First time watching this with my dad, we both shed manly tears. Me because the way Shugart goes makes it look so realistic. My father because he went in with the 20,000 Marines during April of '93, and firmly believes the Operation Gothic Serpent was one of the biggest fuck ups in US Military history.

Randy and Gary did not have to go in, they went in anyways knowing full well they may not have back up to save a single Pilot from Somali Militia. They deserved the Medal of Honor.

There are a few series and movies out there that make me cry, but only a few made me cry Manly tears.

I reserve my Manly tears for when no word's can describe the emotions I am feeling accurately enough. Kamina's death was one and one of the few cases of fanfiction when Nyx's innoccence was taken and forced to become a monster and "My Little Dashie".

When Heath Ledger died, I cried. He was a brilliant actor, with a lifetime of potential Star roles.

Meh, he was a fantastic actor in Batman but other than that... meh.
I genuinely have never cried at a film (apart from when I was an iddle kiddie), though I have yet to see Toy Story 3 and apparently that pulls at the heart strings.
The only thing that has brought me close to tears is when they kill John Coffey in The Green Mile (the book).

Where the Wild Things Are. I'm 19, my uncle is 27. We cried manly tears that movie. Holy shit it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Seconded. I saw it when I was 21. Actually had to wipe my face three times. It was awesome.

Other manly shedding tears movies include Titanic, Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption and Edge of Darkness. Mel Gibson may not be a great guy in real life...but he in movies is fucking celestial.

I always choke up when I watch Its a Wonderful Life. I used to cry when Bruce Willis dies in Armageddon too. Sometimes I cry after a really good book, but mainly cuz its over and I don't want it to be.

I've basically never cried to anything in real life (besides the death of my Grandfather), and I never cry at movies. But christ, every 3rd or 4th anime/manga I watch/read will have tears streaming down my face at least once.

Why can't Western live action be that good at telling stories and getting you to actually care about the characters in the shows. >.>

Pretty much whenever there's a part in a film or game or series when something great happens or something emotional happens to characters you have actually begun caring for. It doesn't have to be near the ending or anything, but it has to be something great. A decent example is the Lighting of the Beacons sequence of LOTR. When Theoden says 'And Rohan will answer.' and with the awesome music that plays, I'm always like 'Aww, Hell yeahh!' And just the epic-ness of the line, knowing that it will have a huge effect on the world and the characters, and that it's such a cool moment for men, because they have a chance of victory - that brings tears of mighty joy to my eyes as chills run down my spine. I know it's kinda stupid, but whatever.
