Knowing right and wrong separates us from animals, and we kill each other over it.

Because we can understand broader concepts (i.e. sarcasm) we can take it to the furthest limit of response (i.e. I shot you in the face, might makes right, you're dead and can't argue).

Another words, war exists because of territorial disputes*, as well as disputes over precious metals** (and maybe food).

*It continues to exist because people continue to have territorial disputes. You can't, after all, have "American Soil" and "America's Army" without America.

**Africa is in the shitter. :(

No, having the capacity to delude ourselves about inane ideas such as "right" and "wrong" separates us from animals. Animals must look on in disdain.

We've always wanted to slaughter the man next to each of us. In our instincts, we've got one single button that gets pressed when our tolerance have been stomped down into the dirt: Violence. Whether it's from years of harrassment to a mere tap on the shoulder, we hit the person who does it sooner or later. As for wars, why go out there yourself when you have control of a freaking nation??

Both extremes exist, and both are certainly flaws imo. There are plenty of people who also believe simply being a human earns you the right to live, no matter how many atrocities you have commited whereas animals would simply kill the offender right then and there. Humanity's logic can be severely flawed by both the presence and absence of morals. It is a very odd thing.

*Sarcasm*-OHHHH I am SO sorry MASTER. Just Because I Signed up 5 months ago and haven't posted any APPARENTLY make me a new user who starts new threads just for the sake of posting threads.

This is the OFF-TOPIC Section, so I was clearly and totally wrong to post a OFF-TOPIC in the OFF-TOPIC section.

Again, SOOOOOOOO Freaking sorry for offending your belief that you are the only one who has ANYTHING important to say.*End Sarcasm*
Wait a second...if you say something you said is sarcastic, doesn't it defeat the point of sarcasm and end up rendering your point a overly-complicated not-joke?

What's wrong with infighting? Fact of the matter is, people piss people off. It's perfectly natural. We've got highly developed personalities that don't exactly mesh with others. There's nothing wrong with it, it'd be unnatural if we all got along perfectly.

Anyone ever read A Wrinkle in Time? That planet where everyone got along was freaking CREEPY.

We've gotten where we are due to being aggressive, mean little sonsofbitches who take no quarter. We've developed the brains we have today by eating lots, and lots of red meat. This is who we are. This is WHY we are.

We're no different than a lot of animals out there, the only difference is that we've had unprecedented success. Much like Wal Mart, the eater of smaller companies.

Never liked people who question their own species. Question being: Asking why we are so violent.
I don't know, ask whoever made you.

Thing is, people believe in World peace, and while I agree with this to a certain extent, I think a life without at least mild violence would be rather boring, no?

I think Smith in the matrix put it right when he said Humans are not mammals, but a virus. Humans in recent times have come up with more inventive ways to kill people, and more inventive ways to kill our planet (not always intentionaly i know).

But that's simply because we have the cognative capacity to be creative. We're no more vicious than a lot of animals out there, but we can think, which means we can think BIG, for better or worse.

We might be the death of this planet, but is that really bad? I mean, honestly? Not to say that I don't care about the planet, but we're kind of the inevitable eventuality.

Just like how the older a car gets the more likely it is to break down, the longer life exists on planet earth the more likely we'll eventually get a species that's going to wreck the balance and fuck everything up. I doubt we'll end life on the planet, we might just muck things about.

Guys, can't stop the agents of entropy.

Or Gullover's Travels. Gulliver visits a land where there are intelligent horses who are perfectly, utterly rational, have no affections beyond friendship and little in the way of technology. It's fucked up, and my idea of a nightmare.

If I can't fight, kill and screw, I'm not interested. Reason has limited entertainment value. Psychotic aggression has no limits.
