WARNING: SPOILERS FOR ALL SIX FILMS HAVE FREE REIGN BEYOND THIS POINT

A place to discuss all of the little nods, easter eggs, possible future setups, and subtle continuity connections in Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avengers, and The Avengers.

Let's see if we can really catch them all.

One thing off the top of my head is that I recall seeing the number "42" highlighted on a document in The Avengers. I can't remember, but I seem to recall that number being important in some way... if someone could refresh my memory, that'd be great.

42 was the negative zone prison for metahumans created during civil war. Named 42 because it was the 42nd good idea from Reed Richards and Tony Stark to improve the world. It didn't work out.

Captain America's shield was in Tony Stark's lab in Iron Man.
No idea what the hell it was doing there, though.

Caps shield was frozen with him, the shield in Stark's lab was probably a second attempt made by Howard Stark without vibranium.

In the second Hulk film, Banner flicks through designs for various military prototypes, one or two of them were marked with 'Stark Industries'.

Bear in mind that when I first noticed that, neither of the Iron Man films had even been announced. My mind was blown when I saw it.

You can see the Infinity Gauntlet in Odin's Vault in Thor. Given what happens in The Avengers, you can see where that is heading.
There is a brief allusion to Thor in Iron Man 2, where Nick Fury is called away to deal with an incident in New Mexico.

Not exactly easter eggs, but I suggest people do watch Coulson's short film spin-offs. Both are pretty damn funny.

Pretty obvious one is the way that Stan Lee shows up in every film. Can't actually remember if he was in Hulk, though.
He's the guy that drinks the juice Banner's blood fell into.

That's really surprising given that The Incredible Hulk came out more than a month after Iron Man.

Anyone else think this SHIELD agent was the Eric O'Grady Antman?

Someone else seems to have pointed out how The Incredible Hulk came out after Iron Man, but I figured I'd also let you know that the first "modern Hulk" movie isn't part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And then a much less brief showing of Thor's hammer after the credits :p

Now, for my own input, though this is less of an easter egg and more of a question- what's up with the girl they randomly focus on during the final battle in the Avengers? A full slo-mo camera focus and then you see her talking on the news later. Is she a character/reference to a character from the comics?

Wait. The first Iron Man movie was released before the second Hulk movie. Not only had it been announced, it had been released.

There's a deleted scene with that girl as a waitress serving coffee to Steve Rogers.
Don't know why they had to cut it out though.

B... but that would have turned it from "confusing about possible foreshadowing" to "kind of awesome"....

Apparently they had to cut 30+ minutes from the movie, and a lot of that was about Steve/Cap going back to his old neighborhood, experiencing the modern world, etc.

I really hope there's a director's cut because I would watch the hell out of it.

The Eye of Agamotto is seen in Odin's Vault if I remember correctly, tying in Doctor Strange.

By the way, in Thor, Selvig says about a scientist friend of his who got SHIELD's attention and was never seen again. Was this scientist Bruce Banner? Or somebody else? He mentions gamma radiation so it probably is Bruce...

Did it? I don't remember. I always tend to see these things a fair while after they come out anyway.

I was aware of that, I don't think I've ever even seen the first one all the way through.

She's in the building where Cap' saves all those civilians and she sees him as she's being evacuated.

OT In The Incredible Hulk there's a deleted scene where Banner tries to kill himself in some sort of winter tundra but Hulk comes out, and jumps into a frozen lake and you can see for a split second a flash of red and blue in a circular shape.

No, I know, that's my point- they seemed to focus so much on her that she seems more important than just a random girl-to-save.

Someone else cleared it up (if they were right/being honest) though.

And I'm gonna have to look for that deleted scene...

At the end of the Avengers Stark's tower is left with just the letter 'A' on it.

In the comics, Stark's tower was the first HQ of the Avengers.
I'm guessing this isn't a coincidence

As I brought up in another thread, the material that Tony manufactures in IM2 is the same stuff the Tesseract is made of.

It is NOT Vibranium.
