I recently learned that you can have an effect on which captured crew members survive as well.

If you do more than one mission after getting the Reaper IFF (so, Legion's Loyalty mission and then any other) Yeoman Chambers dies. If you only do one, she survives but a colonist from Horizon dies in her stead.

Everyone lived for me, but I can't for the life of me see how Shepard could die at the end.
Maybe if you do it really badly. You know, no upgrades to the ship, no Loyal party members, make all the wrong choices while in the base..

It all depends on who you send to do what, and your loyalty levels. You should be happy that you didn't lose anyone. I lost Tali, though.

And I don't understand how that ending was bad. Whoever gets that one must suck though because it appears as though they lost all their crew members. Probably didn't do any loyalty missions at all, and won't be able to export that save to ME3. Lulz.
The video description says he completed it in 11 hours. That means he probably didn't have time to upgrade his ship or do many (if any) loyalty missions.

I've just finished Mass Effect 2 and am slightly unsatisfied at the ending, mainly because no one died.

My reasons for this is that there was no emotional fallout and the ending itself was another obligatory cliffhanger. That and I screwed the romances up by somehow getting involved with Garrus who I only liked as a mate.

Considering if anyone has actually finished share their endings and how to get alternate ones

Also found this ending and couldn't stop cringing at how horrible it was

Hey if you wat her take her, she's pretty one dimensional. I'd like another Garrus hanging around so is it a deal?

I don't know, I was rather satisfied with my "Everyone lives, keep the Reaper Tech" ending.

I'd like to put a bullet (or ten) in the Illusive Man, but meh.

I'd done every single mission in the game prior to acquiring the Reaper IFF (and Legion), and upgraded everything except the last Tech and Biotic Damage boosts, so once I'd got Legion and did his loyalty quest I was pretty much set.

I had Legion run through the vents, and Miranda leading the second team, then I used Samara in the swarm section and Miranda to lead the other team again, and finally I took Jack and Thane with me to the core. Everything worked perfectly, and I got to tell the Illusive Man to take a flying leap (also, awesome explosion!).

As Jacob will tell you should you ask, if you take a crew that isn't focused on a suicide mission, all you're going to do is get burned - and it's pretty darn obvious which team members are logical choices to take the various roles (Garrus could probably have handled the second team, Grunt... not so much).

(Note: I just finished the game literally 5 minutes ago, so I'm still a little hot headed)
Note also that i'm not regretting my decision to romance Tali. I was about as attached to her as It is possible to be attached to a videogame character and still be normal. If anything, I'm disappointed in the game for not creating an adequate resolution to the relationship.
Did you not talk to her after the collector's ship?

that basically she's not feeling well, and it was totally worth it and really likes you still

though not perfect, I thought it was still enough to make me look forward to continuing it in ME3 (is that possible for people who loaded their ME1 characters?)

Learn to codex.
I would, but... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.173365-BioWare-Cant-Patch-Unreadable-Text-for-Non-HD-TVs-in-Mass-Effect-2]
Gawd, just buy a VGA cable and plug your Xbox into your monitor like I did. =_= Or better yet, buy it on the PC. That way you can cheat for resources and cut out the shitty mineral scanning part.

The only reason now one died, si because your good at the game, and now who should do what. If anything, that should make you happy.

Okay. So. I'll start with my first run (I did the mission twice because I couldn't go into ME3 with a dead Garrus, that's just not right).

I had all of the upgrades for the Normandy, so I took out the Collector Ship with minimal damage and no casualties. I had Legion go into the vents for me, and took Garrus and Tali with me. Miranda led the fire team, and I had no casualties. So far, so good. When I met with me crew, I had Grunt escort them back. I figured he'd be a good bodyguard. He was. I had Jack (Who wasn't loyal due to my siding against her in her spat with Miranda) do the Biotic Barrier, and once again brought Garrus and Tali. I got through that part swimmingly... UNTIL Jack decided, "Fuck this, I'm done," and dropped the barrier before Garrus was safe. He was stung by robotic Africanized killer bees and carted off to be Reaper food. So, I gave my speech and took Mordin and Tali into the final battle with the Shambling Were-Jesus. Everyone lived, except for Jack who I happily watched be trampled by the Collectors. And then I remembered that my favorite squadmate from ME1 and ME2 was dead, and I reloaded my save.

Only thing I did different was that I had Samara do the Barrier. Jack still died, but I don't care. I actually set out, from when I saw her debut trailer, to kill her off. I didn't want her on my ship.

EDIT: Oh, and I blew that fucker right out to Saskatchewan when I got the chance. Mostly because I knew that the Illusive Man would simply use it to make the all the other races bow down to the supreme Overlord that is the Human Race, and partly because I hadn't blown up an entire map since Virmire.
