So turns out that the Shep you created in ME 1 and then imported into ME 2, you know, the one you've spent a collective 80 hours playing, well turns out that if you didn't tweak the face at all when importing it into the 2nd game the 3rd won't recognize it and you need to create a new face.

DAMN YOU TO THE DEPTHS OF HELL BIOWARE! DAMN YOUR BLACK HEARTS!

edit: Here's where most of the discussion seems to be going on on the Bioware forums, for those interested.

Really? That's rather stupid. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.

Ah well. Makeover time!

Maybe I'll finally be able to fix my Shepard's severe case of duck lips...

Also, those sweet scars from the 2nd; they don't port over (even though the promo art of ManShep has glowing scars). So dishonest Bioware.

What? why not? I love my renegade glowing eyes :(. Are they going to patch it in?

Fudge. I liked my Shepard's look and used pretty much the same face for all four playthroughs (2 of ME1, 2 of ME2). If I can't make her look the same in the ME3 editor, it just won't be the same.

The Bioware forums are going crazy over this. Also, I noticed some news sites are picking up on this. Escapist, you should look into this.

The more pressure on Bioware to solve this quickly, the better.

Well, that's gotta be the single stupidest 'bug' Bioware has ever programmed. I mean, it's not like your own personal Shepard carrying over through the whole trilogy is one of the main selling points of the whole franchise or anything.

It wouldn't look the way it should even if it did work. Importing Shepards from ME2 don't look right at all... at least not for me anyway :/

How on earth did this get past QA? Does it at least work with absolute default characters that haven't been changed?

Nope. I was default in 1 and 2 and when I imported it into 3 it was a weird custom face. That being said, you can switch it to the default Shep when importing so it's no biggy I guess.

EDIT: Some are theorizing that because par/ren points are reset to 0 in this game that the scars will show up again as you begin to level renegade. This is possible.

You are pulling my fucking leg right?!

I was finally able to create a ManShep who doesn't look like a complete and utter retard in ME1 (trust me, it was long and arduous), and now I can't port him over to ME3?

I have refrained myself from openly hating on Bioware, but seriously, FUCK YOU!

If this is true, I'll be a bit upset as even though my ME1/2 Shepherd is ugly as sin, I've strangely grown attached to him. Sort of face only a mother (and an Assari, and a Quarian) could love.

Hopefully they'll patch this by Friday.

Whaaaaaaat? Why hasn't this been mentioned in any of the reviews I've seen? I would call it a major cock up on someone's part.

...

I just imported my Shepard from ME1, and he kept his face.

Granted he looks a bit different in the modified engine, but still, looks basically like him. Is this a legit bug or are people just bitching about Bioware again? I have a hard time telling.

In light of this, is this not the Cloud import bug?

I'm betting it is. I've read quite a number of ME3 reviews today, and none of them stated any problems importing characters (yes, including the reviews that weren't 'everyman' playthroughs).

Well, I guess this means I'll have to break out Crash-Dummy Shepard rather than the one with the good face and everything - hopefully by the time I get around to him, that'll be fixed.

To be honest, I was sort of expecting this, since a fair few ME1 Shepards didn't have 'face-codes' in ME2, and the ones who did, didn't necessarily translate into ME3 (I tried punching a code into the demo and it didn't come out quite right.)

That said, if I can re-create the face, I won't mind - I LOVE face creation in games, I always spend a good 45 minutes on it before anything else.
