And Reapers will descend upon the Citadel, at which point Shepard will pistol whip everybody on the Presidium and scream "I told you so!!!" And then we'll all spend the rest of the game wondering why anybody cared about a Batarian colony...

Am I missing something that happened in the game or does this seem to make little sense. I guess because you were working with Cerberus? Because you blew up the Collector base? I don't know...
There is an event in The Arrival that explains it.

*Spoilers*

Shephard slams an astroid into a Mass Effect relay on the edge of the galaxy there by delaying the Reapers a couple of months/years. But this causes the entire system to be destroyed, including about 300,000 Batarians. Admiral Hacket tells him that he'll be expected to defend himself at a trial on Earth at some point.

Interestingly enough, that's pretty much the same scenario I saw people speculate on Kotaku. You start the game in a trial and you choose your appeareance and backstory when they take your criminal photos or something. Also the trial itself can be interesting depending if you've played Arrival or not. Smacked an asteriod in a mass relay or just working for Cerberus; Defend thy self.

If you use the "spoiler tag" you can protect spoilers from accidental reveals. Just surround the spoiler text with (spoiler) at the beginning and (/spoiler) at the end (but instead of round brackets, use square brackets) and the text will be hidden by a spoiler box until the reader clicks on it.

that may be a miscommunication and perhaps he only wants you dead if you destroyed the collector base and he is still on your side if you saved it, although that is pure speculation

Wait... Cool new weapon stuff is cool but... Tali was not mentioned... I DEMAND a press statement from Bioware confirming her party member status!

Tali wasn't that great, besides I'd rather not have them be in all the games. Give other Quarians and Turians a chance.

The manipulative Illusive Man of Mass Effect 2 will also return, but his opinion of Shepard has changed. Cerberus, the Illusive Man's "humanity first" organization, is trying to kill Shepard in Mass Effect 3 for an unknown reason.
I'll tell you the reason. Its because Cerberus is a fucking backwards terrorist organization that completely fucks up everything it tries to do. I have yet to see any plan of their that was a success. The only "success" they had was re-building you, and even then it ended with the entire station and all the people dead.

I hope that I can personally march up to him, and put a bullet into his god damn face. Just because you have a sweet voice, doesn't mean you should get a pass for stupidity. Didn't work with your dad in Fallout 3, won't work with The Illusive Man.

And the trial is stupid. Your a Spectre, you are above the god damn law. You should be on trial with the council, not the Alliance. Your Alliance membership ended when you were dead for 2 years. Or at least I'd assume that, since it would be logical. Although I don't mind it that much, since the Council are a bunch of god damn idiots and hopefully the Alliance will have some damn brain cells. At least they're putting you on trial. If it was the council they would probably just send another Spectre after you, with the only evidence of you being "rouge" is some voice clip from a random Quarian.

And the Alliance will probably put you on trial for working with Cerberus, and the game will probably not let you properly defend yourself, or not even let you defend yourself. Whenever you tried to do that in ME2 Shepard would end up saying that he's working for Cerberus, even though I picked the option that said "I am NOT working for Cerberus".

Good god I am really negative right now for some reason. But fuck it, thats how I feel inside.

Bringing back weapon mods make me happy though. And hopefully the gameplay will be less boring, and the Soldier/Adept/Engineer/Sentinel classes will actually be fun to play.

It would be pretty cool if all characters returned, I know that would be a lot of trouble and effort Bioware would have to put in getting all the voices but it would be great if returning characters had more of a interactive role.

It's kind of obvious why the Illusive man is against you.
You can either turn over the collector base and it's tech to Cerberus, or destroy it and tell Cerberus to die in a fire. The collector tech is reaper tech. Reaper tech indoctrinates. Turning against Shepard because indoctrinated, or because Shep told him to die in a fire makes perfect sense.

I know why the Illusive Man is trying to kill me. I blew up the station, *****! Mua ha ha ha. Although, if you saved the station, I guess things didn't go to well after that. Hm...

Anyway, yayness all around. Good to see Arrival ties in to the opening of the game. Perhaps it wasn't such a waste of time after all. Liara is back (hopefully), and as long as I get Tali too, I'm happy. Oh, and Kelly and Joker. I would love to see everyone else--and get them again--but those are my must have characters.

I personally liked the game play style in Mass Effect, though I understand it's not for everyone. Mass Effect 2's was a bit too streamlined for my taste (why can I only use one power at a time again?), so it sounds like they may have found a good balance for three. Can't wait to see this.

Cool, ty. That being said, if anyone who hasn't played through Mass Effect 2 (and the DLC)is in here and gets something spoiled, well, what did you expect? It's a discussion on Mass Effect 3, of course people will reference events in the 2nd game. But thanks again on zee tip; I've wondered how to do it.

"Ah yes. 'Reapers', is that what you call these, Shepard? These are just Geth ships. These so called 'Reapers', don't exist."

Yup. Calling it now. Screw the council.

I can see it now! The trial will go like this:

'I did what I had to to save the galaxy from the reapers. I would have done it differently if I could.'
'Objection! You quite clearly hate Batarians and that is why... ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL.'

'We are the harbinger of your ascension.'
'You will know pain Shepard!'
'We are the harbinger of your destruction.'
'This hurts you!'
'We are the harbinger of your destiny.'

I didn't read the spoiler section. But it's good to see they're going to try to combine the best qualities of ME & ME2...

Very much looking forward to this..
