The particle rifle. My Shepard was a soldier, and with his special stat and incinerator ammo maxed out with all the +damages, armour with +damage and +headshot damage, and extended barrel and thermal clip capacity the thing absolutely raped.

Atlases, Banshees, Brutes - nothing stood in its way. And, of course, infinite ammo, so no running out of your cover to look for some in the later sections of the game. Destroyed Kai Leng darn quickly too.

Oh, and in my Vanguard playthrough, the N7 Crusader is approximately the best thing ever. Seems like it fires a slug rather than pellets. Preposterously good at taking out Guardians.

I play a soldier so my picks were these:

Assault Rifle: Geth Rifle

Shotgun: Geth Plasma Shotgun

Sniper Rifle: Black Widow

Pistol: Talon

Didn't use a SMG.

Falcon Rifle, because youknow.

Falcon punch, at range. 100 shots a minute. Explosive.

upgraded to 10, both of these are amazingly deadly!
But if you're still using the standard Widow you need to get with the times. Yes, the Widow has enough stopping power that it could be mounted on the Normandy as a primary weapon system, but it's just sooooo slow and inefficient...at least when you compare it to the updated version: the Black Widow.

Fact: The standard Widow has the most damage of any sniper rifle. But the damage bar only goes up so far and as such there's not much room for improvement in the damage area.

The Black Widow, on the other hand, starts out as powerful as the Mantis which is itself a ridiculously great sniper rifle thanks to it's stopping power. Fully upgraded, I think the Black Widow is about 3/4ths as strong as the Widow. Where it makes up for this loss of power is in its efficiency. 3 shots before a reload as compared to 1.

Now, the Black Widow is easily capable of one-shotting any standard enemy (cerberus troopers, any type of husk, any type of geth, etc.) So that means the only real way to compare stopping power is with the heavy units (brutes, atlas, banshee, geth prime, etc). Those 3 shots EASILY pack much more punch than a single shot from the Widow, allowing you to take down bigger enemies quicker. Then there's the fact that it has a higher spare ammo compacity than the standard Widow so you never have to worry about running out of ammo.

All in all, when something absolutely undeniably needs to be dead, look no further than the Black Widow.

Definitely the Javelin Sniper Rifle

-Does max damage with the extended barrel mod and max disruptor ammo.
-Can pierce walls without losing damage without a mod.
-Highlights enemies through smoke and walls without a mod.
-Equipping the Concentration mod eliminates its one weakness-the shot delay.

Found it, forgot about it for one mission, figured I'd try it on the next, never used another sniper ever again.

I actually liked it more than the Black Widow.

Assault Rifle: Mattock / Geth Pulse Rifle
Sniper Rifle: Black Widow

This was all I really needed. I think I used that pistol that fired the little exploding balls on 2-3 missions for a shot here and there, but there was so much ammo lying about it was 90% Widow and 10% Mattock/Pulse Rifle.

I did like the Particle beam, but with the maxed out incendiary ammo, it did feel a bit like playing on easy mode.

After that the paladin, cause "BOOM" Headshot, made me feel like Blasto

M-99 Saber

Graal Spike Thrower

M-6 Carnifex

All with mods to do max damage. And with all my armour giving me bonus damage most things died rather quickly

Even though i played a Infiltrator, i didn't carry a sniper for 50% of the game.

Pistol: M-77 Paladin, this pistol makes Insanity easy. I upgraded it to 10 and then preceded to breeze through every mission with ease. I used Phalanx for awhile but it doesn't really compare, doesn't do enough damage. Only drawback with this weapon is the amount of ammo it can hold. I run out a lot.

Sniper Rifle: Black Widow, I use it a lot in Multiplayer. Great balance between power and ammo. I kinda hate sniper rifles where you have to reload after every shot, and sniper rifles like the Viper which holds like 15 shots seems to miss the point to me. They don't have enough damage output to bother using it.

SMG: Locust, I just like this one because it actually has aim. I find with most SMGs and Assault rifles as well that you can't unload too many shots without it veering off course and being forced to readjust midshot. With the Locust I can unload an entire clip into a banshee's face without much effort.

Shotgun: Graal Spike Thrower, same reasoning as the sniper rifle really, don't have to reload as much and it has a ridiculous damage output.

Assault Rifle: Valkyrie, High accuracy again for an assault rifle.

As for my actual character though, I play as a power heavy vanguard, so I carry around my Paladin, the Locust SMG and a Vindicator assault rifle. None of them weigh all that much so I still have a 198%+ recharge speed which will be put up to 200 once I upgrade the vindicator some more.

First playthrough I pretty much just used the Prothean Rifle, this time I'm sticking to the Vindicator & Black Widow.

The Carnifex, Phalanx, and Paladin are all beasts with a magazine upgrade, and stick a scope on any of them and you have a really lightweight sniper rifle. I'm also a huge fan of the Tempest, not sure why, but it tends to agree with me. And with a heat sink and magazine upgrade it becomes an endless bullet hose.

I love the Scorpion. A pistol that fires sticky bombs! Most of the other weapons I've used are pretty much similar to how they were in the last game, except that the new firing sounds make them feel less powerful.

Finally somebody got it right!

I used Armor piercing ammo but I think warp ammo is better but anyway, this gun = all powerful.

I had a shockingly fun time watching heads asplode after 1 MAYBE 2 bullets, it was almost too easy!

Second in charge was deffo my Mattock, yes my assault rifle was my secondary and my handgun was my primary.

Captcha: am I happy?

I felt so emo typing that! Also after writing that I enjoyed popping heads, I think I have to ask myself that question. Is the captcha even happy?

I had three main favorites in Mass Effect 3, not including Submachine Guns or the Shotguns. But, I'll go ahead and include those anyway, just because I like to cover all the bases:

Assault Rifle -

This thing can pretty much speak for itself. Dependable, accurate and powerful, you can fire this thing quickly and with ease that can mow down enemies one at a time. With a combination of the Piercing Mod, the Extended Barrel, and fully upgraded Armor Piercing Ammo, which when upgraded gives you the chance to give you extra reserve ammo, makes this thing pretty much the only thing you ever need in combat. Not only that, but with both the Piercing Mod and Armor Piercing Ammo, its like there's no such thing as cover.

Sniper Rifle -

Now this bad boy is essentially the Geths answer to the Widow. Yes, I know what you're probably thinking. "What about the Black Widow? Its not only sexy, but has three shots!". Very true, but as undeniably sexy as the Black Widow is, the Javelin is not only easier to get, its scope outlines enemies in purple through smoke and cover, provided it can actually damage them through said cover. With the Concentration Mod, Extended Barrel, and Armor Piercing Ammo, this thing is ridiculously powerful, and the slight lag between the pull of the trigger and the actual firing of the rifle can be a godsend, particularly with agile enemies. You can have your Black Widow, the Javelin is mine, baby.

Shotgun -

Yes, again, a Geth weapon. Those robotic bastards seem to really know what they're doing, and with shotguns, its no different. This little death machine is accurate even at long range as long as you can lead the shot properly, and even without charging the shot, its powerful. When you do charge it, it becomes even more ridiculously deadly. Like the Javelin, the Geth Plasma Shotgun seems to be the Geths answer to the Claymore: Just about as powerful, especially with the right mods, but in this case also more accurate and with more ammo. Add the Shredder Mod, High-Caliber Barrel and my ubiquitous Ammo power, and you have a recipe for destruction, no matter the enemy.

Submachine Gun -

I'm pretty sure most of you saw this coming. Personally, there is no equal in terms of SMGs, in both accuracy and power. The recoil, to me, is negligible. With its three-round-bursts, it can tear through Shields and Barriers, Armor and Health with relative ease, especially with Ammo powers. I prefer the Ultralight Materials and Extended Clip mods, making a light package lighter, and bolstering the rather pitiful shot-to-clip size. For those that can't handle the recoil of the Tempest, like me, the Hornet might be the SMG for you.

And last, but certainly not least, Pistol -

When I first got this thing, it was love at first sight, especially since it was Tali who gave it to me. Again, I know people will want to point to the Paladin and Carnifex, but I prefer my pistol to not only have power and accuracy, but fire-rate as well, and the Arc Pistol is essentially the Phalanx, my old favorite, but better in every single way. Pinpoint-accurate, large clip, rapid-firing. And it essentially has two settings: Normal, which can tear through the weaker cannon-fodder; and Charged, which with proper aiming, can take the heads off of shielded Marauders and Centurions with ease. Ladies and Gents, I thought the Phalanx would always be my baby in Mass Effect. I was so wrong. I'm sorry Phalanx, but your younger, Quarian sister has got it going on. Add the Piercing Mod, High-Caliber Barrel and an Ammo power, you really only need two guns. This one, and your primary, if this isn't your primary already.

And yes, I know. I sound like a weapons dealer trying to make a sale. But, once you get your hands on these beauties, they speak for themselves, and they're on sale for no money down!

In all seriousness though, these guns are fun to use, if you haven't tried them yet, you should, at least in the firing range in the Spectre Office of the Citadel. Gives you a great way to do a baseline test for a gun.
