Sovereign is dead, but he is only one reaper right?
i think some of the protheans are still alive, and I bet bavarians have a larger role in this.
Wait..... bavarians?
What?
I think you meant to say batarians? Bavarians are those people from Germany (I think).

1. Does your level, equipment, etc. carry over if you use your save data?
I think Bioware said that you will be able to carry your Shepard over to ME2, and all the choices you made in the first game (whether or not to kill Wrex, what your character background was etc.) will also carry over.

However I think that they said you wont keep your level and equipment as such, as it would be a tad unbalanced if the player began the game as a level 60 character with top level Spectre Gear etc.

Despite that, they're gonna implement some kind of system that rewards those players who made it to the higher levels, within the second game so that people don't feel like their leveling up was all for noting

Will try and find the source with all that info on now.

EDIT
http://blogs.ign.com/BW_MassEffect/2009/06/17/123208/ found it :D
I haven't read all of it though, it seems to come close to revealing things that I'd rather be left as a surprise for when I actually play the game

I also heard this game is going to have a lot more involvement from ceberus. That storyline felt kind of unfinished to me. Your character background and choices carry over but not your skills and equipment. I think that would be a little redicoulous and slightly defeat the point in playing a new game.
And wadders, i hope you're right about those of us who reached the higher levels getting some kind of reward. I didnt get three characters to level 60 for nothing XD

1. Bioware has confirmed players of the first game NEED to keep their Mass Effect saves intact for use and carry-over into the sequel.
2. Many believed that Shepard was dead at the end of the first game but that was because they didn't pay enough attention to see that he was actually alive. Still no new news on that. Will keep all of you posted.
3. The geth are still a race in the universe. Just because their leader was killed doesn't mean that the entire race will go with him. It has been said in ME2, you can make your character into any of the known races, though with some of those races I don't see that working. But it has been said you can even play as the geth, so there must be something going on Bioware wants to keep from us for now...

I hate how the level thing was the ONE fact that guy was vague on. It says that skills are re-adjusted, does that mean you keep your level???

1) I think they are only going to carry over what you did involving the story (like who you chose to save, who you had sex with, what you chose to do about the council, etc.).

2) He either was "reported" as being KIA while on a mission, did actually get KIA and was cloned, or (the worst case scenario) was "reported" KIA because he suffers from amnesia.

3) Geth are completely unrelated to Saren (except for the Reaper thing), so they're probably looking for revenge or are

It seemed pretty clear to me. The only things, the ONLY things, that carry over from ME1 are the decisions you made and which of your squad members were alive at the end. He said they would compensate players who had reached a high level, but we all knew that starting at L60 with full Colossus and Spectre X gear would be pretty damn boring.

After reading that I'm not so sure that Garrus (my favourite squad member) will go back to join me :-|
