I do think Miranda is hot. However, her attitude draws my attention (for the brief time she had it) away from her body and to her mind, and that kills her for me. I know that she changes slightly if you help her and pursue a romance with her, but to me it's not enough. Plus, she still doesn't change all that much, because she uses her relationship status with you as yet another weapon against her competition. Kasumi points it out: "Really Shep? In the engine room, right there in front of Tali?" That makes me see Miranda as wanting the engine room not because of the view, but because she wanted to rub it in Tali's face. The only girl on the ship who likes you from the start. And that's just mean.

As a straight woman I think Miranda is pretty, well until she opens her mouth.

Even Tali is a bit offputting with her attitude towards the Geth.
what do you mean? the geth destroyed her homeworld and massacred her people. even after 300 years that's still a good reason to hate them.
To be fair, even Tali admits the only reason the Geth rebelled was because the Quarians had tried to shut them all down after they had achieved sentience. Also, the home planet is perfectly fine- it's just overrun by Geth now. Finally, other than the splinter cells that Shepard fights (Which Legion says is about... 5 percent of the total population or something) the Geth never stray off the homeland and only fight to defend themselves.

I never understand why anyone likes Jack at all.
As soon as I picked her up I wanted to kick her out of an airlock.

By Ashley Grahms do you mean Ashley Williams? She isn't that bad. Not hot by video game standards, but she isn't ugly either.

So, no you are not alone on this.
I agree that Jack is more attractive, my favourite, but Liara is IMO the cutest one in the games

I think Miranda's attractive. She's stuck-up, arrogant, preposterously immature[footnote]Given her upbringing, or lack thereof, this is probably intentional[/footnote] and uncooperative, but she is attractive. Jack has pretty eyes, but that's pretty much where any physical appeal ends. Given her nature this is, again, probably intentional.

That's all I have to say on that. Maybe you don't find them attractive because of the uncanny valley?

I agree with that. And just think of the little blue babies!

Miranda: King of....freakish, in appearance. The RL actress who they based her off of and did her voice? Awesome. Miranda? Not. Terrible personality and the body is just 'off'.

Ashley: She's kind of got that 'plain'ish charm in the first one. Sure, she's got a xenophobic problem, but not nearly as much of one as a number of Cerberus personnel. That, and from the scan in ME3, she looks pretty awesome. Enough so that I'm replaying as DudeShep to see where that goes, ;).

Tali: She has that quirky, naive, kind of innocent charm. That, and the fact that you honestly have no idea what she truly looks like adds a layer of interest to her.

Jack: Sure, she's violent and angry at the beginning. Advance that relationship, however, and you have someone who is truly broken trying to start putting the pieces back together. It's an interesting relationship.

Liara: I never truly cared about Liara tbh. I only really ran with her on my main FemShep simply because she beat out Kaiden. Her personality, her looks, ect. Never truly cared for her. In the first one, Ashley wins every time for DudeShep.

Samara: Kind of interesting...but no, not THAT interesting. Sorry.

Personally, I prefer to not concentrate on my crew members for bed mates and instead try to go after the blonde yeoman (whose name I think is Kelly). You know, the psychologist one who gives you your messages?
Well i never pick teammates based on their looks, hell i take Mordin over anyone everyday because of his pure awesomeness.
Mordin is by far my favourite.

However, it's all about Garrus. He's a sexy hunk of burning....alien.

Yeah, Miranda is the last person I'd want to have a relationship with. As far as ME2 relationships go, here is my preference is order of favorite to least favorite

Jack
Tali
Kelly
Morinth
Samara
Miranda

If they let me have gay relationships, Jacob, Garrus, and Thane would all be in there above Miranda. Never liked Miranda. Not her looks and ESPECIALLY not her personality. I always end up doing her loyalty mission last. I'll probably get her killed off in my official ME3 carry-over playthrough.

Agree with you on Miranda.

The weird thing is that Miranda is modeled after (and voiced by) Yvonne Strahovski, or as I like to call her, Yvonne Strahotski:

And yet they made her out to be this weird, big-headed Michael Jackson look-alike.
I think this is a textbook case of uncanny valley right here. There's something about Strahovski's face that is very attractive in real life (or at least with the right makeup, lighting and airbrushing) but doesn't work with a digital avatar. Maybe it's a light missing from the eyes, a lack of crinkling at the corners of the mouth, who knows? But it's a good part of the reason I don't like the dominance of photorealistic styles in game art--we're not there yet, and I'd rather have an idealized, non-realistic art style over an attempt at realism that creeps me out any day.

Miranda just tended to annoy me, because she was a walking definition of Informed Attribute. We're told (half the time by Miranda herself, which compounds the irritation) that Miranda's super-intelligent, super-capable, a good leader and the hottest thing on two legs. I frankly didn't see any of that reflected in her dialogue or actions. While her biotics made her a fairly useful team member at the beginning, she was quickly outpaced by other characters, and I basically stopped using her after Omega.

Horses for courses man, I think Miranda is mad hot, but Liara is the one for me. That said, on my first ME2 playthrough I did the full relationship thing with Jack because she is pretty hot and her character was very interesting to me.

I disagree about the game forcing you to fancy Miranda though, her character has some pretty deep flaws that some people can't stand...
The way her suit if proportioned, along with one of the very first things you see is a shot of her 'backside', the game does try to say "Looky! Booty!". Her issues are noticeable, yes, but they still don't seem to redeem her in nearly as convincingly/greatly as Jack's do, or Tali's for that matter. Miranda, to me, just feels like a broken character by design, not by intent.

actually i'm not talking about Tali in particular but of her race in general.

in my opinion, the geth weren't meant to be a sentient species, they were mean as tools. Tools for dangerous work, expendable and completly impersonal.
They just got smart and they rebelled.

as always, there is no "good" side to this story. It's just the story of two species that ended up figthing each other.

neither party is in the right.all I'm saying is, I understand her anger.
Actually the Geth didn't rebel. They started questioning the nature of their existence and the Quarians immediately jumped to the conclusion that they must be destroyed. If fighting back in self-defence is rebelling then fine, but they certainly didn't make the first hostile action :)

Allright so hear me out here.
I recently started playing mass effect 2 (i know i'm slow :p) and have gotten reasonably far into the main story and overall it's quite an amazing game, but here's my issue.
At the beginning of the game when Miranda is introduced i see all the signs that they clearly want me to think she's some hot girl that i by all means would wan't to get into bed with. Problem is i think she is probably the most ugly thing in the game. I even felt pretty awkward when she was on about her looks being "superior" to others. Same goes with Ashley Grahams that you meet up with somewhere along the line. She just looks weird to me. I mean. I get that i am supposed to think these two are hot but i am finding it very hard to do so.

Anyone with me on this, or am i some weird twisted anomaly in the fanbas
The one thing that puzzles me about Miranda is her face. Everything else is good, but her face is pending between "ok" and "a brick must have hit her face". I couldn't care less about Ashley.
And that's what we call a butterface. She's real hot, but her face....

My opinion? Don't have a strong one really. "Opinions are like testicles. If someone kicks them hard enough, it won't matter how many you have."

But for the topic's sake, I'll give my vote to Tali I guess.

Better than the hit by a brick, pompous, *****-balloon.

She started being alright when she opened up, but her personality is not my first choice. Liked her more than Miranda though.

I liked Tali better than Liara, but as far as the characters go, I think Liara is a better match for Shepherd. Well, Paragon Shepherd anyway.

You're talking about a bunch of pixels with a scripted personality :| personally I find it very hard to see game characters as anything other than vague representations of humans... It's like all the people who found Merrill 'adorable' in DA2... All I could see was the set-up for a never-ending string of poor jokes at the expense of a character that should have been developed more... It was, in fact, kinda racist. Hand on, that goes without saying, Bioware love the issue of racism don't they -.-

Bioware does indeed run with the concept of racism quite a bit, because it's a deeply engrained issue with mankind as a whole, both in the past, now, and almost assuredly in the future. What matters is how they present it, and in ME's case they present in as a piece of the universe as a whole, as well as a part of the immediate story. It works for them and it makes an interesting story for us, so no real arguments here.
