Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think Miranda is quite possibly the hottest of all the ME2 characters and I didn't think Ashley was hot either so you're certainly not alone there.

It isn't the face that gets to me as much as her...features.

They pertrude a good foot or 2 from her body.

It looks...unnatural.
Then again, so is she.
OT: I dunno, I kinda liked Miranda. Though, I'd go after Tali any day.

Bioware does indeed run with the concept of racism quite a bit, because it's a deeply engrained issue with mankind as a whole, both in the past, now, and almost assuredly in the future. What matters is how they present it, and in ME's case they present in as a piece of the universe as a whole, as well as a part of the immediate story. It works for them and it makes an interesting story for us, so no real arguments here.
Not the point I was making, and quite a bit off-topic... But if we're getting on to that, I've always felt that Bioware's conceptualism of racism in their games was a little mishandled anyway. It usually seems to come down to painting 'RACISM HAPPENS' in fifty-foot high neon letters. Yes, we know it happens, Bioware; what are you trying to say about it?

Joker is the only man in Mass effect that I would enter into a relationship with if it was 'real life'

I don't really like muscly men and I don't feel attracted to aliens although Garrus seems like a nice enough guy.

Joker makes me laugh too which makes him instantly win. It would take a bit of extra work becuase of his disability but it would be worth it I think. Plus flying the spaceship like a boss makes me go all girly.

Miranda has a nice ass, but not much else. Oh, also Miranda has an ego the size of the galactic core. ^^ She thinks she's all that, but she really isn't. Femshep is way hotter than Miranda. Well, my FemShep and most of the ones I see online are anyway.

Liara, Tali, and Garrus are the hotties. ^^

I disagree about the game forcing you to fancy Miranda though, her character has some pretty deep flaws that some people can't stand...
Never said anything about her character man, even though i dislike that about her as well, i was more on about how the game blatantly throws her ass and titties in front of the camera all the time.

Fair enough, I can see what you're saying there because she DOES have a few sexual-isms in her physical design, but then again that argument can be made for Jack(wearing a belt strap where her top should be), and Samara(boobs).
Now here's a question - why don't people call out Bioware on their massive sexism more often? Because seriously wtf? [http://images.sodahead.com/polls/000968989/mirandathumb_answer_1_xlarge.png]

You know, some women have breasts. Some are large, some are small. It gets a little old when people complain about the few in games that have large ones. I think you might be trying a little too hard to avoid a gamer stereotype. Have you seen the actual voice actress for Matriarch Benezia? Or the actual voice actress for Miranda Lawson?

It's not like every woman in Mass Effect is a total sexpot. I think Ashley looks plain and most of the women run the range of uggo to wowza. Sure, Miranda's outfit is tailored to showcase her boobs and butt. I can go walking around my city and see dozens of women dressed even more provocatively though.

I recently started playing mass effect 2 (i know i'm slow :p) and have gotten reasonably far into the main story and overall it's quite an amazing game, but here's my issue.
At the beginning of the game when Miranda is introduced i see all the signs that they clearly want me to think she's some hot girl that i by all means would wan't to get into bed with. Problem is i think she is probably the most ugly thing in the game. I even felt pretty awkward when she was on about her looks being "superior" to others. Same goes with Ashley Grahams that you meet up with somewhere along the line. She just looks weird to me. I mean. I get that i am supposed to think these two are hot but i am finding it very hard to do so.

Anyone with me on this, or am i some weird twisted anomaly in the fanbas
The one thing that puzzles me about Miranda is her face. Everything else is good, but her face is pending between "ok" and "a brick must have hit her face". I couldn't care less about Ashley.
While I personally don't think she's hot, I think Miranda is one of those 'objectively hot' girls - someone like Megan Fox where even if you personally don't find her attractive she's one of those people where you're supposed to think she's hot.

You're talking about a bunch of pixels with a scripted personality :| personally I find it very hard to see game characters as anything other than vague representations of humans... It's like all the people who found Merrill 'adorable' in DA2... All I could see was the set-up for a never-ending string of poor jokes at the expense of a character that should have been developed more... It was, in fact, kinda racist. Hand on, that goes without saying, Bioware love the issue of racism don't they -.-
How is Merrill racist exactly ?

She is stupid and niave (some may mstake that for cute) but im not seeing how its racist.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Merrill isn't racist. THE ENTIRE SCRIPT is racist against Merrill. xD

Thank you!!!
Miranda is not sexy. She is a completely unlikeable **** to boot.

The same exact thing happened with Isabella in Dragon Age 2.

Bioware doesn't realize that it doesn't matter how "attractive" their shallow sluts are they'll never measure up when there are rich well rounded characters present that we're expected to choose between.

EDIT} talking about Ashley have you seen the ME 3 screen shot of her?
She looks like Angelina Jolie doesn't she?

It also doesn't help that Kaiden looks like Eric Bana and George Clooney if you smashed their faces together. It's like the Alliance is trying to break the Cerberus monopoly on extremely sexy military personnel.

Mirana has a manly jaw line, Ashley has messy eyes. Oh and those "hot" blue aliens are so
transparently supposed to give you a nerdrection its insulting. So yeah you are not alone.

I have to ask though, how can design differ from intent?

Her resolution may not be as fulfilling as others, but I think that's because her issues aren't as deep. Jack has deep scars caused by child abuse and Tali has to face down possible extradition from her entire race. Compared to that, some regular old daddy issues don't really rank...
That's kind of the problem with her. In comparison to the problems suffered by nearly every single other crewmember on the Normandy, Miranda's problems fall far short on the stick, and because of that, her attitude and personality never change enough to make her design match what they had intended for her.

By concept, Miranda could have been a really interesting character.
A Cerberus officer, essentially second to the Illusive Man, being influenced and tended to enough by Shepard that it helps shape her galactic views of both humanity, but of the other species as a whole. To the point that she is cast off by the IM and goes rogue with Shepard.

But instead she just falls far short of that goal, sadly.

I'd go for Miranda. I have yet to see whats off putting about her face. Besides, her actress is pretty hot.

Tali is somewhat attractive but only in the sense of she looks nice (While in her suit, it adds to the mystique). I'm not into boning Aliens, no matter how nice Tali is. (I treat her like a close sister relationship).

Liara was boring, end of story.

Ashley was fun for a bit but she seemed to be a regular. She was my first though so :).

On a side note:
I'm a guy and I laugh at how Jacob could be attractive. His head is small and his mouth moves like a fish mouth. Anyone notice that?

I'm not going to call her ugly, but true, she is far from the feminine perfection she is made out to be. I assume they wrote her as the height of beauty because her model was based on Yvonne Strahovski, and then a lot was lost in translation.

Did you even read my original post? Every five seconds there's yet another poor excuse for a joke at the expense of the character.

'Look! Look how naive and out-of-place she is! Now laugh at it!'

ALL the other elves in the game had some idea of how to interact with humans and coexist with their society, even if it was just 'Fuggoff!'... Merrill seems to have been raised in a box, shown pictures of humans and let out 5 minutes before you meet her. I could understand her, as a member of a different race, not understanding the more subtle aspects of a different society, but to have her completely oblivious to practically everything going on around her just made me view the character as so much wasted potential -.-
