You're not wrong, but debatable in certain cases.
There's quite a few games that I originally passed up because they seemed like boring "gears of war clones" that actually turned out to be really interesting when I finally played them. Binary Domain for example.

And without all of the Gears and Call of Duty clones we wouldn't have gotten things like Vanquish and Spec Ops: The Line which were a direct response to those trends.

Also, I still think that Call of Duty and Gears of War are fun games on their own. I haven't touched Gears since 3 (didn't buy an Xbox One), but I still play quite a few of the Call of Duty games because their campaigns are fun hollywood popcorn shlock that's actually quite enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to Call of Duty Cold War (man I really hope there's a level where you help drug traffickers smuggle cocaine into Miami as the CIA).

Binary Domain for example.
A good game, but I could not get in to it, because Vanquish spoiled me. Binary Domain does at least have something unique about it game and story. It was also as close as you were going to get a sequel to Snatcher or Blade Runner (before an official sequel was made).

I did not like Spec-Ops, but I see your point. Did nothing for me though.

I'm glad you have fun with the COD series, but I find them too bland, boring, and same old same old. The fact that old-school shooters with weapon wheels have made a huge comeback and show no signs of stopping has given me even less incentive to play military shooter of that ilk.The best COD/Gears clones to come out of 7th gen for me are Bulletstorm, Stranglehold (which is more Max Payne style, but has some cover elements) and Vanquish. Everything else falls at average or mediocre. Binary Domain plays almost like a 3rd person tower defense in certain ways, but enemies get kinda repetitive. The story and multiple endings are the big saving grace. dark Sector had the glave and gave gamers Warframe. A better game. Wanted: Weapons of Fate had bullet curving and was a proto-Vanquish, but was made on a low-budget with not much else to stand out. The only COD clone I liked was Singularity. Raven Software's last game before being sent to the COD mines never to see the dawn of day ever again! Singularity was COD combined with Bioshock.

I keep forgetting Anthem exists. I can remember FO76 for what a shitshow it's been. I can remember Marvels Avengers for how badly a good idea was bungled. Anthem is basically an anti-meme to me. The moment I look away it slips out of my memory until someone mentions it again.

I want to believe a New ME game will be work it, but everything I heard Andromeda about sounds so....meh.
Just keeping its memory alive for the sole purpose of teaching the youth the mistakes of our generation and the last šŸ˜‰

Anthem's sci-fa, not sci-fi. And before you say I'm splitting hairs, that's BioWare's words, not mine (even if I'd say them anyway).

Of course, Anthem's even deader than Mass Effect, so, yeah. NEW IP, BioWare, not resurrected IP.
*Carefully pushes two halves of split hair back together with hair glue*

Hey, Bioware's only got a couple of these left on their balding bonce... they've become an endangered, protected species!

Good.

But are the Reapers sensible yet or do they continue with the demented interpretation that cost them their credibility in Mass Effect 3? The story kinda requires them to be highly intimidating rather than a bunch of idiots.

''Lol we're worried some machines are gonna wipe ya all out so we're just gonna wipe you out before that can happen!''
I doubt they are going to change anything about the plot. Writers are terrible when it comes to plots about AI. It always boils down to what I call the Ultron Effect, though it's hardly the first example of it. The premise is the same, though the rationale varies a bit. The classic "I'm going to help humanity by destroying it." cliche, and it's just stupid. But it's not unique to Mass Effect, not by a long shot. I mean hell, the movie I, Robot, which was based on a book about the exact OPPOSITE of the movie's premise (fear the machines for they will enslave us) had the same premise as well.

And sadly this level of fear has now permeated our real perceptions of the technology of AI, as evidenced by EVERY news article about some new robotic/AI advancement, immediately making references to Terminator or Black Mirror, or grey goo, etc. Everyone knee jerks to the idea that they will kill us all, when we haven't even really developed them yet beyond the most basic of levels. It's really depressing to me honestly.

But I want a New Mass Effect Game in the Milky Way. I don't want to do that mission where I have to rescue Garrus for the 6th time.

I will even take a prequel at this point.

I'm not really trying to be snide. But ME doesn't need a remaster
I disagree. The original ME has a bug that needs to mess with the console or a mod to patch it up when played with an AMD CPU.

And in my case on PC, I can't get Mass Effect 2 to launch on my PC if I am using it on Origin.

But it can launch on Steam, but it makes switching from ME 2 to ME 3 a bit more cumbersome.

The problem isn't knowing the ending but making an incomplete third game. A gamer would have expected a major battle at the end given resources gathered throughout the three games.
