Well, it being fake wasn't a surprise. But the Dante's inferno thing was. They have some crazy marketing, that old EA thing.

I really have to say that so far the Dante's Inferno marketing has been some of the most entertaining company-sponsored trolling ever.

I am of two minds about this...

On one hand it shows that the soul of EA may be redeemable.

Edit: mybad I meant John Riccitiello.

Oh man, I love it!

EA is doing some pretty neat things, but it's frustrating to see them doing things like closing Pandemic in the same week...

This is the second post I've seen recently that confuses Activision with EA. Activision deserves the hate, EA is redeeming itself.

Yes I was mistaken, not sure what I was thinking of...

Anyway John Riccitiello deserves a kick in the crotch just as bad because of Pandemic

Yes, I was mistaken, but John Riccitiello axed Pandemic and thus no Starwars Battlefront 3 so he has earned my hate.

This is getting thrown in with the evidence that advertising department for Dante's Inferno has gone completely batshit insane.

I haven't actually looked at much stuff for the game, it just sounded very Devil May Cry/God of War-ish. And yeah, I know that DMC was heavily influenced by and made many references to The Devine Comedy.

I'm not sure how this game will play out or even if I'll get it, since it's kind of got a wierd spin to it. DMC referenced The Devine Comedy but wasn't actually related to it, so it was easy for them to take the concepts and just run with names and references.

This game is actually based off the poem. I've never read it, but I somehow doubt that this game will match the poem very well. Then again, I can't imagine that any poem would easily translate into a game. I'll be waiting to see how this turns out before I even think of getting it.

Actually, it's an age gate for the trailer which takes a little bit of the zing out of the experience, but the net result is the same: Another look at EA's interpretation of the general unpleasantness that is eternal damnation.

The newest video focuses on the Sixth Circle of Hell, reserved for heretics. "He who betrays the beliefs of the church blackens his soul with the sin of Heresy," the site says. "A Mass not celebrated by ordained priest or on consecrated soil is naught but false ritual condemned by clergy. Thou hast befouled thine eyes with the filth of profane works and betrayed all things sacred. For thy punishment, thou shalt be damned to burn in flaming tombs and hang from enflamed crossed. And an eternity of infernal fire will not cleanse thee."

Wow. So much for going to church every day, eh?
Now THAT is awesome. I kept hearing about this Mass: We Pray thing and assumed it was a joke, but had no idea it was related to Dante's Inferno.

This game's marketing just keeps getting better and better. The game better be pretty darn good though. Don't yank our chains, EA.
