For those of you who don't know, a blizzard around the same category of the blizzard of 1978 is racking the East Cost of the US right now. It's so bad that MA, the state I live in, has passed a driving ban that will take effect in around 15 minutes and will stay in effect until further notice. My work had to close around 5 hours earlier. So, looks like I'll be sitting on my ass and drinking Mountain Dew for awhile.

We had a pretty bad snow storm in the ass-end of Missouri back in '09.

Not bad enough to issue a driving ban, though.

Anyway, I hope you stay warm. I also hope your power doesn't go down like ours did for a week. We actually had to go out of town to a hotel until the storm blew over. At least the place we were staying at had a pretty warm indoor swimming pool. (It's one of those fancy waterpark inns that's open year-round and has an indoor and outdoor pool.) So that was neat.

Sorry, I had to. :p

I've never heard of driving bans due to snow. How deep is it now?

Bleh, down in the south we never really get any snow. So more work and less sitting down and lazing around for us :(
Tell me about it. All my area is getting right now is rain. Granted I wouldn't want to get snow bad enough that they actually have to ban driving, but at least something better then the utter crap we have been getting.(it's snowed like five times so far this winter and each time it's melted by the end of the next day)

On a side note, one of my mom's Alaskan relatives said that what Boston calls a blizzard they call Friday.

Man, if I lived in the Northeast, I'd probably die. Not from the cold, but because I only buy food at most a couple days in advance, so this massive blizzard would've probably caused me to starve to death. Still though, I do like snow.

We got a little bit of snow a day ago here in new jersey, but not that much. Shoveling off the car was annoying but no biggie. Didn't even stop me from going to my classes.

At least you get proper weather.

All I have to look forward to is a bit more queuing in the rain.

We've just started to get a little snow down here in Reading. Doubt it'll stick though, there's been too much rain.

Where I live, snow doesn't even exist. The best we get is a thunderstorm with hail.

OT: Stay safe OP, get to a basement/cellar/bunker if need be.

Take care of yourselves Massachusettians... Massachusettites... Massachusetters... fuck it, people from Massachusetts. Stay warm and stay safe, I know what it's like to live in a stormed in place. As long as you have Internet connectivity, all will be well.

I read in the paper today that a kid died in a car due to the father leaving the engine running to keep him warm while he shoveled the snow, the exhaust suffocated him. My point? Don't sit in the car with the engine running when it's covered in snow. Sad story, hope it's not happening around your area mate.

In other news, its nice and warm down here in Australia, well either warm or wet, either is good :)

If you absolutely must go out make sure you've got warm clothes for everyone who will be in the car in your trunk. You'll need not just jackets and snow pants but gloves, scarves, wool hats, etc. Shit to cover all exposed skin is what you want. You may be uncomfortable, but you won't die of exposure.

Good news for adults: You now have a valid reason for claiming snow days for work.

Our snow started to melt, then it froze, now we have a cute peppering of white snow to conceal sheet ice. What is it with Yorkshire and sheet ice recently? Right, that means I can't leave my house. Or more accurately can't get back if I do. Damn steep driveway.

up till this point i geuinely thought you meant blizzard, the developer. lol
only 11 dead, and as our local newspaper reprted "Finally 11 people dead" (how this got past editor i dont know). thats pretty good storm you got there or just stupid people? i never heard anything ever closing becuase of a storm, and we had pretty darn big winters (this one was cold but little snow, the snow didnt even reach above my head). i mean sure some buses went flying around the streets one day which caused some confusion (ice + snow = slippery tires) but noone got hurt, because were used to it.

so massachusets, harden the fuck up.

I dont think drinking Mountain Dew can ever be considered normal.
