My friend and I were discussing Cloud's sword. We assume it is a pretty heavy sword in the first place, but what if it is full of materia. Does materia have a measurable weight?

I'm pretty sure.. not.
I really don't know.
If it did, It would probably weight about as much as a marble.

Materia is the Magic system from Final Fantasy 7.
Cloud is the main protagonist of the same game.

If anything, Materia makes it heavier. I really wouldn't question that game, though. You're riding giant happy chicken (Chocobo), you're shooting fire out of your fingertips, and the main antagonist, being Sephiroth, is using some magical sword that is bound to his soul or something, because he is the only one that can use it. Either Cloud is just THAT STRONG, or his sword is made of carbon-fiber. Or plywood.

It can't really be that heavy, since there are numerous instances where he just waves it around with one hand.

In which case. I have no idea. But considering the FF was made by Japanese, they were probably paying more attention to the breast physics, than the logicalities of an immense sword.

Adele: You can't just go out and wave your sword around.
Paul: So that's what they're calling it.

I'm sorry, I had to. And obviously he's learned to carry the weight of his hair with his head, so a sword's weight should be negligible with or without.

Heck, he could just ditch the sword altogether and just stab things with that giant spike he has growing out of his head.

Then the materia can be used as pretty pretty accessories for when he feels the urge to cross dress.

Hahaha. I was wondering why they kept misspelling 'Wii' as 'VII'.
Isn't Nintendo some sort of Japanese poker card printer? I think they're run by a guy named Mario Kong. His nickname is "Sonic the Hedgehog" because his wife Zelda thinks he talks too fast.

Well, back to Akalabeth for me. God, I love the Apple II. It's so...bad.

Actually Cloud is infused with mako (as somebody said above) while Sephiroth is the son of Jenova, and infused with mako. The reason he's the only one able to wield his sword is because nobody else has the strength to use it correctly (if you notice clouds sword is designed around brute force while Sephiroths is more about finesse)

No his sword is made out of a high grade-super low weight titanium/tungsten carbide alloy. Materia weighs less than a few grams, equallying a completely awesome and lightweight weapon...

Ill be honest i may have bullshit some of that sentence.
Lol, fair enough. I think that it has no weight because it is magic (I know this is a cop out for most debates when talking about a fantasy setting). But what if it is condensed energy?

The weight of Clouds Buster sword is negligible because Cloud has enhanced strength from Mako infusion, and JENOVA cells. Even without those things he was naturally strong to begin with, stronger than Zack mind you. As for Materia, it really has no real weight as the user kinda absorbs it into themselves. So all in all there is no added weight, just a really strong guy with a big ass sword.
