Hey all..

I've noticed that some games has various settings accordingly to how much blood, violence and gore u want when u for instance shoot someone..

Personally i always put the settings to the max amount of blood and gore possible, as i just love to watch ppl blow up in the most grusom way..

What i was wondering was, if there is anyone who actually adjust these levels to a minimum?
And if u do, why do u even play a violent game to begin with?

And what is ur favourite violent episode/execution ingame?

Speaking for myself i love the Manhunt way of doing things, especially with the plastic bag over the head and pieces of broken glass shards..

The gore is just secondary I would say. But I always love a well executed kill.

My favorite violent episode was Dark Messiah, the adrenalin kills where great. Especial the execution type stab, followed by the kick in the face. Never got tiered of that one.
Breaking their neck with a staff was a classic too! Made me shiver all over when I heard the cracking sound

I virtually always turn the violence/gore up to the maximum level. The only exception I can think of is Mortal Kombat Armageddon, where I set it to "Medium" instead of "Max" because on Max there was so much blood that it just looked really silly. (yes, even for a Mortal Kombat game.)

As for favorite execution, I guess for me it would be one of the Fatalities from the older Mortal Kombat games... back then stuff like that still made an impact. Although chainsawing someone in Gears of War 2 feels satisfying too.

Ahh yes.. Mortal kombat does bring back alot of old memories.. but most of the fatalities were impossible to do.. But luckily there was always cheats so that ya at least got to see them all.. lol

I don't bother to touch the gore settings, as they make no difference in a game for me. Well... I turned on blood on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (I think) just to see the bastards suffer when they "accidentally" fell down some stairs. :)

haha.. yes, thats a classic.. I always loved to do rail slides and "accidentally" fall off the board, watching em twist in pain as the railing had a close and intimit encounter with their privates.. lol

Yes its clearly their fault, and must suffer for such failures.

gore at max, it has to be. i used to have Mortal Kombat 4 on the N64 and my favorite fatality was by Reiko who would kneel down and throw about 20 shirkens at them which would pierce all over their body, then shoot a last one that would go straight into the forehead, they'd then fall back and the blood would flow. found it here [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ3uAZjRO94&feature=related/] (it's the second one) it was AWESOME. that series had some great fatalities.

I do.

I do it because most "gorehound" games get a lot better/realistic or more enjoyable with the setting turned right down.

If u are looking for realism i can understand to some degree, but as the gorehound i am, i would never trade realism for watching creative ways ppl can blow up..
Realism i get in everyday life, fantasy i get in games :) that does not mean i shoot ppl irl.. lol

I do love a good VATS headshot in Fallout 3,
To quote Yahtzee "watching a super mutants body fly off in one direction and his head in three others never loses its charm"

As much as I like gore and don't really care for realism, I actually have it fairly low. actually, I usually have the default settings. I don't like stories being realistic but I like the physics being realistic otherwise it's just... no.

I normally leave it as it is, sometimes turn it up to max but not always.

Some of the best executions are in The Punisher game. Putting a man and a live grenade into a coffin is always fun. I had some great times in NYC Zoo with a Rhino and a hapless thug.

it depends on the game. in most fastpaced fps gore just distracts from the important stuff (like seeing your enemy) so i turn ot down. in a more relaxed setting i get it to a realistic level

The meat factory level in The Punisher was just brutal.
And there's one level, i think it was the zoo, where at the start of the level you can throw a guy into a wood chipper.

The only time i turned off gore was in Alien Hominid, it was hilarious to witness flowers oozing out of enemies as you bit their faces off.

Best execution? Assassin's creed when you pounce on a fleeing enemy with the hidden blade. Awesome as it is merciless.

I normally keep gore as it is. Myself I tend to think its quite superfluous to the game itself, but if that what you are there for then fair enough.

Myself, if I do play games with lots of death, think its creepier if someone just snaps someones neck or dispatches them in a bloodless way. Seems a little more disturbing to me that the killer has such disregard for the person the have killed.

Saying that, I think that the favorite gore moment I've ever seen just because its quite funny is the cerebral bore from Turok 2 and Rage wars. Darn those were good games.

gore to the max for me.
Also i had this awesome mod for unreal tournament 2004 where you could multiply ammounts of blood that flies from an exploding body... as soon as someone died there was a huge dome of blood that erupted from their corpse.
