Quick question. Why do I always see people, posting about ZP, but only really wanting to be the first to post?
Nearly every week, pointlessly short comments, sometimes shamelessly saying things like "Yeah, I'm first". Is there something to gain for posting first? Am I missing something?

If I was mod, everyone who posts in Yahtzee boards before the clip is finished will receive a permiban. That is to say, if the clip goes on for 5 minutes, the posters who write their crap within 5 minutes of the clip being shown will get the boot.
It's just stroking their own ego.
They even make it seen that they haven't watched it yet by writing, "Wow, yahtzee did this today? I'm just about to watch it." How is that even contributing?!

I think if I was a mod I would Permiban most of the comments in those 10+ pages of crap.

i knew of it way back in the day in slashdot when a large site like that, it was hard to get the first post and really a badge of honour

sites like fark if you put "first post" in your reply the site script will move it to a lower position

I would say that short OPs leave much more room for expansion in replies than long OPs.

I'll also say that the "first" meme so rampant on the interwebs at the moment is incredibly annoying, but not surprising. It's simply another way to invoke competition online. The guy that types "first" is also probably that annoying friend you hang out with that keeps yelling "shotgun" as soon as you step out the door when you've never yelled "shotgun" in your life. He keeps acting like he owned you when you don't care in the slightest...I hate those people as well.
