Keep planet scanning, but make it less tedious. You should get 3-4x as many minerals per node, and there should be far less nodes on each planet. Also, make the radius at which you can detect the nodes larger, so you don't have to spend 10 minutes sweeping back and forth over the planet.

I really liked the way planet scanning was done in Space Rangers 2. Basically you buy a probe from a science station. It's rated for how well it scans water, plains and mountains. Go into orbit around an unexplored planet, launch the probe and go do something else. After X amount of time (based on the quality of the probe and the makeup of the planet) you go back and collect goodies. It was simple, kept the illusion of depth, and it didn't detract from your primary job of flying around the galaxy blowing up robots.

I preferred the planet scanning because the vehicle sections were so bland and boring and while scanning was also bland and boring it took less effort so I could do other things while scanning. Yes my preference is based solely on laziness.

I did not find the scanning that bad actually. They were boring but did not take away my enjoyment of the game.

Planet Scanning. After the update, it isn't nearly as tedious, and it doesn't really get in the way of me trying to complete sidequests like the Mako did. With planet-scanning, I chose when I wanted to do it, and then did it.

It should be noted that its a lot more tolerable to do it whenever you're running low on a certain type, so when you want to upgrade your sniper rifle or whatever, its not directly in your way.

My issue with the Mako wasn't the controls, it was how boring driving it around the planets was. You very seldom got to use the weapons because most of the time you were driving up a verticle cliff to reach the mission on the planet.

As much as I don't like the Mako I absolutely hate planet scanning. It's boring, it's no fun, there's no excitment, and unless you import a previous save it's mandatory to keep everyone from dying. If I ever meet the person who came up with that idea I will punch them in face as hard as I can.

I'd prefer that neither of them return. If they absolutely needed to have one though i'd take a more polished Mako with a set path you had to drive down like on Noveria. Then at least you'd have something to shoot at to stave off boredom.

I don't think the classes are different enough or interesting enough I should say, I never had an urge to go back and replay the campaign as a different class. I beat the game on all 3 classes for DA2 because the classes were so dramatically different that I kept wanting to play them.
