Good to hear, though a Mechcommander would have put this over the top for me...

I'd think so, but then again most longrunning MMO's have major setting changing expansions when necessary.

How those EXACT events play out might be subject to player control though...

The more I hear about this game the more interested I become. The only big, and it really is BIG, question now is whether the gameplay will actually live up to all these damned solid ideas.

I've already signed up and reserved my pilots name however, looking forward to finding out!

Armored Core 5 is trying a similar concept. I hope both of these work in the long run instead of one group kicking udder ass then it becomes a huge merc infighting fest.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
This is sounding more and more interesting, hope it doesn't come out too close to guild wars 2, since I have a feeling when that comes out I will be occupied for awhile.

So who wants to join the Free Rasalhague Republic? I'm sure nothing horrible is going to happen to them soon.

I really don't wanna get my life into a game that I regularly have to play to retain a rank but damn. That sounds so cool.

You don't need one. I've been playing MW with KB&M for years. It's purely personal preference.

I wonder if I can play as the Wolf Dragoons.

I hope the mechanics are similar to MW3, not MW4. Also, the game's using CryEngine3 last I heard, so here's hoping their art assets are up to par as well.

I'm waiting with bated breath!
I sincerely hope it's not. Having system requirements that high will put a severe damper on the player base.

But as for your first point, I whole-heartedly agree. I loved MechWarrior 3. It honestly felt far more tactical and immersive then 4 did.
Well, CryEngine3, as far as I understand, is far more optimized than its previous iteration (which is why consoles can run Crysis 1 now, bar 1 level). And I'm pretty sure the devs are going to keep the requirements low for a larger playerbase. They need it for an F2P MMO, and we don't need another 'Shattered Horizon'.

QFT. I sincerely hope you're right. Though I question whether Crytek, as amazing as some of their rendering engines are, can actually optimize their engines effectively. CryEngine2 was a joke. It was supposed to be a better, more optimized version of the original CryEngine. it fell short of that claim by a large margin.

Still, I have exceedingly high hopes for this game. I've been hankering for some Mech action recently, going as far as rereading my Battletech novels. Here's hoping the final product delivers on the promises.

So basically Eve with mechs. Short of offering free chocolate and massages, I'm struggling to see how they could make this sound better. Let's just hope it lives up to the promises.

CryEngine 3 can run on PS3 and Xbox. It's barely possible to buy a phone with such low specs these days, so I really can't see anyone with an actual PC having any problems.

Funnily enough, they end up in a pretty damn sweet situation when its all over, that is if you consider the Ghost Bear Dominion as a well and true part of the FRR.

Also most importantly about this news:

To encourage regular play, Loyalty Points will also be taken away from inactive players, which could lead to reductions in rank and loss of influence.
Not too sure how to feel about this. It is interesting, of course, to punish inactivity and encourage a players continual interest in the game. Yet it could suck for those who... well, might have something come up in real life.
Forcing someone to remain active in a game (specially a F2P game), isn't the brightest of things to do either. Its no fun to feel like you HAVE to play the game, otherwise you are punished for it. P2P games do that with their monthly fees, which is a strength of the B2P and F2P games out there.

It would be nice to know how long a player has until their loyalty points start to degrade though, if it's reasonable, like... I don't know maybe a few weeks to a month before you see a degrade start, that would be perfectly fine. But if it is a few days? Yeah... not so much to me...
This, pretty much. I was reading and getting really excited for it... Until I saw this part.
Like cursedseishi said, if you only start losing points after a couple weeks (or more), then I can live with it at least. But if it's after only a relatively short time, then eh... I'll still play the game, but I won't be entirely happy with it. >_>

Other than that, though, it's certainly an interesting idea, and I really hope it turns out well. I'd love a good new MW game. :D
