As long as I can punt people from a mile away with Gauss Rifles I'm happy.

But only with a Timberwolf, with plenty of missile racks on board too... and a couple of medium laser just in case...
oh boy... let me spell this out for you.

the 3rd succession war began in 2866 and is considered to have officially ended in 3025. the Mad Cat while developed in 2945, was restricted to the Clan Home Worlds until 3049 when the Clans invaded.

further Gauss Weapons, pulse lasers, and even Ultra and LBX Autocannons were not re developed by the inner sphere until 3037, and not put into earnest production until 3050.

the weapons available at the time are as follows

Lasers- Small Medium and Large (no ER or Pulse)

Autocannons 2, 5, 10, and 20 (standard only)

std PPC (no ER)

LRM 5, 10, 15, and 20 racks.

SRM 2, 4, and 6, racks (no streaks or Artemis on either.)

that's it, pretty basic stuff. further more the mech list would be limited to things found here. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Technical_Readout:_3039

Even though I enjoy the Clans era of Battletech, the original look and feel of the BT world was a spacefaring civilization in decline, where mechs and other technology were precious, ancient things from a bygone era.

It would be fantastic to have them reboot into that, so that finding a Star League cache once again means something, and trying to take out your enemy with minimal damage to his 'Mech is crucial.

Yeah I got into MW4 a year ago with the free release.

Now I want MW5, I want it now and I don't care how.

Dude, it's a videogame.

I sincerely hope it ignores established canon or gets it's date shuffled along, not having the Clans present would be criminal.

Besides, I don't want the Atlas to be the all powerful visage of death, I want to out range it with my Clam LRMs or swarm it with Elementals or just plain march up in a Warhawk and melt it's face off from fifty metres away...

Let me first say that I love Battletech/Mechwarrior and have been a fan ever since my five year old eyes were treated the to awe of CG in the Battletech cartoon. Later, I got caught up in the universe with the TCG, books and games.

That being said, I sense a DNF coming along the way.

dude, the Battletech universe has over a quarter of a century of history in it. there are multiple time periods with multiple comings and goings. Believe me I want to throw down against Manei Domini in a Mechwarrior game.

but the fact is that the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe is steeped in tradition, so to have clans in a game that takes place in 3015 would be just as, if not more criminal. it would be playing faster and looser with MW canon then Mechassault 1 and 2.

oh and the Atlas is far from an all powerful visage of death. save for a sole LRM 20 launcher it's guns are way to short of range. an Awesome, Stalker, Black Knight, heck all they way down to a Thunderbolt can take an AS7-D down.

Reactor online.
Sensors online.
Weapons online.
My body is ready, here's hoping it doesn't suck.

Shameless plug - come play Mechwarrior Living Legends beta with everyone.

i wonder if they will put aerospace fighters and dropships in it and hopefully the rumours of it being for X-box are wrong mechwarrior is for PC

On Twitter we follow this page: http://twitter.com/#!/InnerSphereNews
It's a sort of viral marketing campaign, they release bit after bit of an image (should be an Atlas).
Also, the fact that it is also for XBOX 360 is true, but it seems like the two versions will be slightly different. Plus, no cross platform multiplayer.

This is welcome news. Until now, the only "updates" came from subtle hints on Bryan Ekman's Twitter page. And, as for the classic Startup Sequence: "Reactor: Online, Sensors: Online, Weapons: Online, All Systems: Nominal," I really hope they include this once again. This simple sequence alone added so much immersion to the game. As soon as I watched the Reveal Trailer, I went and changed my Windows System Sounds to a Custom MechWarrior Theme (The Startup Sequence plays upon logging in).

I hope they have the Maurader and the Timberwolf. Oh how I loved using triple PCP's to take out each leg.
All information is that it's before the clan invasion IE during the succession wars so no madcat and my understanding is while some of the crusher joe stuff is back in the maurader and pretty much all the PP 'mechs people care about are still out since macross is still crossed at them.
