Medal of Honor: Warfighter Sales Continue to Disappoint

This is a good thing.

MOH living on like this is not something the fans would want.

We had a couple of good games, then they turned to shit and now we have the perfect culmination of cinematic slop FPS in MOH Warfighter. (Hahaha)

Watching Totalbiscuits "WTF is MOH: Warfighter" is quite disheartening, you realize just how on rails shooters have become with the game being essentially a giant QTE.

I will say it again MOH Warfighter failing is a good thing. At least it will discourage people from continuing to copy COD. It happened after a while with MMO's when people realized just copying WoW was no way to get success.

All of the games you mentioned were WWII shooters; Battlefield 2 & Arma I were the first MMS's.

I can't help feeling that TotalBiscuit's critique of Warfighter resulted in the sales drop, or maybe gamers are becoming smarter.

(remembers CoD kiddie encounters)

...

Probably due to TB then.
you forgot operation flashpoint, which was released before Battlefield 1942 AND the original CoD. so unless we count Rainbow six we should start there

500,000 units worldwide? How much money did they pour into this?

EA just stop trying to compete with Activision for your own sake.
They put more into marketing than development. That's their problem. And that's how fuckin' retarded they are.
That is EA all over really.

Dead Space 2's ridiculous "Your mom will hate it."
Mass Effect 3's "It's better with Kinect."

They don't seem to grasp that gamers are not impressed by that kind of crap. Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 3 were bound to get sales because they were a part of a well established series, not crappy marketing techniques.

Yeah, so maybe its time to stop this nonsense and return to the original WW2 idea, you know that thing that made it popular in the first place, with good music and atmosphere... you know, the things that made me like the first 2 games on PS1 and Allied Assault on PC?

I know it might be too early, since there was a reason why there had to be a switch to Modern shooters... but this right now is NOT MoH.

I'm totally on board with every modern military shooter crashing and burning, but Medal of Honor was arguably the first major MMS (depending on whether you classify Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six [August 21, 1998] as "major").
It's also arguably not the first major MMS (or even a MMS at all) given that it's set in World War II.

Turn it into an RTS. That'll turn some heads :p
It will sadden you to know that they've actually done that before, except it was trying to turn an RTS franchise into an FPS, which obviously failed miserably because EA's management are total morons.
When EA bought out Westwood in 1998 EA let them release the game the next installment of their highly acclaimed Command and Conquer series, which sold like hotcakes, and then told the developers "Now make us a sci-fi FPS to compete with Halo"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Renegade

It was actually a fairly decent game for the time, but everyone just took one look at the game and asked "Why does this exist?" and compared to Halo it didn't stand a chance.

Of course the underperformance of that game led to Westwood getting shut down and amalgamated, so I wonder how whoever was in charge of Warfighters' development is doing, and what will happen to MOH after this; Crappy online Free2play maybe?
I freaking love C&C Renegade. Big time. It's one of my childhood memories, and one of my favourite games ever. That said, the only RTS I played from the C&C series was Generals. Still, the franchise is, or was good, and Renegade, in my opinion, was freaking excellent.

this happens if you try to copy COD ?A. how about you stop coping from others and actually try to make something smart for a change. like using creativity, taking your time and make sure the game actually works.
Medal of Honor (PS1) - 1999

Call of Duty (PC/Mac) -2003

MoH was first, dude.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I really liked C&C Renegade, exploring the Nod structures was awesome and it had some really fun gameplay, but it didn't take off like EA wanted because the people interested in the C&C franchise were more interested in a new RTS game than an FPS, and people not familiar with the franchise were more interested in Halo, the game EA wanted Renegade to compete with, but it hadn't a hope because of Halo's freak runaway success.

Renegade was greenlit by EA to be a 'Halo killer', they wanted to quickly release a sci-fi shooter that would leech off it's success so a portion of the Halo audience would move to Renegade, giving them a new highly lucrative FPS IP, but in their eyes Renegade wasn't a success because it didn't achieve anywhere near a similar level of sales, so they decided it hadn't made enough impact to warrant a sequel because of their unrealistic expectations.

This gives me hope that the Battlefield Medal of Duty: Black Ops series have gone and hit its peak. I'm tired of these clones of clones getting annual releases, chewing up the front pages of every gaming website for the past three years for half a year. Though... it's almost worth it because we got Medal of Honor: Door Fighter from Miracle of Sound.

Now, let us all pray for Battlefield2143...

Seriously, that's what we need, take the supposed technology forward into the future, where Aliens style dropships and ED209 style robots are the order of the day. I'm pretty sick of modern combat games, it's like a 4 spindle donkey grinding wheel - with COD,BOPS,MOH,BF3, all grinding at the same grain, all going round in circles chewing eachothers ass instead of trying to break free.

BF2143 would have no contemporaries - especially with the Titan battles, 2 ships, turrets, dropships, and then people on the ground trying to take over missile sites to fire on the enemy Titan, while other players do boarding missions, dogfights, defending, assault... and most importantly teamwork.

What we have nowadays are a lot of lazy developers... why try and enhance gameplay when slightly better visuals will have the same impact?, why waste time on enemy AI when everyone plays multiplayer?, why bother with multi-seat vehicles when everyone just sits waiting on a jet?, why do anything that might cause hardcore fans to baulk and loose faith?

I don't care about Black Ops, or Halo4... I am enjoying Borderlands2, and am looking forard to Farcry3. In fact, I'm kinda glad that MOH is doing so badly, it might mean more players looking to Farcry3 multiplayer... because when you have the scope of anyone being able to create their own environment, well it just becomes awesome. And, it kinda nulifies the DLC robbery that often happens, like we don't need no DLC, we can make cool maps ourselves. And the best thing is that's before all the unusual gameplay mechanics that Farcry brings to the table, self surgery with a leatherman, starting proper fires, propane tank shenanigans. I can't wait - stick your thumb in the eye socket of every lazy developer by supporting the only FPS that seems to want true gamers to have control over proceedings.

Le sigh. If I were them I'd put MoH to bed, they've killed any of the franchise's reputation. I'm sure if they let a bunch of guys go be creative and make some mad new FPS they could make a buggerload of money out of it. It's not like there's no money in FPS games.

Hey, guys this is not a COD rip off MoH was before COD, and it is nothing like it. The reason why it made bad sales was because the first one was not great this game is not a cod rip off cod is. Plus if you look at black ops 2 they copied off of ghost recon future soilder (camo suits, the flying drones, and the claw). Also a copy of BF3, but thays beside the point.
