Hey, errr, long story short, as a laugh I took 3 small Microgynon pills. They're birth control pills. I'm a guy. Is anything bad gonna happen to me?

I imagine there are zero long term effects for taking it just once but I felt I'd ask anyway.

Probably shouldn't listen to anyone here tbh man. It'll either be someone who thinks they know but in fact knows fuck, someone who will lead you astray for giggles, with a small chance of someone who genuinely wants to help.

Well, seeing as how my only medical experience is playing as a medic in Team Fortress 2, all you need to do is find a medic to uber you. After the uber you will then either be backstabbed by a damn spy, or sniped in the head.

Nothing bad will happen, i dont know, maybe some explosive diahrea on at the worst, otherwise it'll probably pass out of your system in a week or so. And really do nothing in the meanwhile.

Think of it like steroids, you dont just take a shot of steroids and pow your fucking massive. Its takes time for any real effects to take place.

If this was the kind of Japanese animation a friend of a friend of a friend of yours watches in his basement at 3:30 AM, I know exactly what would happen to you.

Since this is real life, though, you'll either feel/act mildly funny for a short time, or probably nothing. I would really not make a habit of this, though.

TL;DR: You'll be fine, but you were silly.

You'll be fine. Essentially those pills contain the synthetic hormones ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. These are designed to wreak havoc upon a females oestrogen/progesterone menstrual cycle and prevent the normal progesterone balance which would allow the fertilised egg to attach to the endometrium lining and begin working on the gooey goodness upon which a zygote depends. Obviously, you don't have any of that stuff so the synthetics have no receptors to effect.

Long story short, whilst at least one recent study (yet to be successfully replicated in laboratory conditions) I know of has claimed the existence of a weak infradian oestrogen cycle in healthy young adult males, there's little to no obvious purpose for it if it even genuinely exists. Any biorhythmic disruptions you may have caused yourself would be essentially irrelevant to your daily functioning and, unless you continued to take a steady dose of microgynon, would level out probably within 24 hours of having taken the pills.

But don't do this sort of thing again. Whilst these pills aren't going to do you any harm, taking medication, even very mild medication, for which you have no need and have not been prescribed is a very, very bad idea. The body is a very delicate balance of chemicals and the simple fact of the matter is that we're all slightly different. Whilst taking a certain substance would have very little effect upon one person, it may have a far more profound effect upon the next. This is why doctors personally write prescriptions for most drugs.

I don't want to go into too much detail, because it's TMI grounds, but after you are done doing the do, your testosterone levels drop and your estrogen levels skyrocket, so it's basically like you just had sex. Nothing to worry about.
