Medieval metal? You've got a lot of power meta bands who constantly bring up medieval themes.

Power, black, death, music over lyrics?
Children of Bodom is for you.
Don't be fooled by their newer albums(which are awful) or disillusioned by the fact that a they've been adopted by Hot Topic nor that they have become very popular.

Something Wild, Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper are ALL great albums.

You may also enjoy Jari-era Ensiferum, Wintersun, Axamenta and Throne of Chaos.

I guess I'll go for metalcore since everyone seems to have everything else covered.

All That Remains:

Killswitch Engage:

Atreyu:

36 Crazyfists:

Shadows Fall:

Still Remains:
With that last one I suggest you avoid their second album. They only have two and their second is pretty awful compared to their first.

Also you should check out this website. It's a huge archive of pretty much every single metal band ever. The link is to a search result for metalcore, but it's got everything on there.

Encyclopedia Metallum (A.K.A Metal Archives) [http://www.metal-archives.com/search?searchString=metalcore&type=band_genre]

try metallica (that's where i started atleast), iron maiden and maybe machinae supremacy(it's not any of the metal sub-genres you mentioned but it's still really good)

I'm usually exclusively a lurker, but for this thread I registered. One of the best albums of all times fits your description.
Satyricon- Dark Medieval Times

Also insanely beautifull and atmospheric, anything by Summoning:

So, since i am WAY to lazy to look up all the video's, i'll just list a couple fuck-ton of great bands,

Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Sabaton
Alestorm
ManOwaR
All that remains
Killswitch Engage
Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
Children of bodom
Five Finger Death Punch
Flogging Molly (folk metal, but damn good)
Heaven shall burn
Hammerfall
Machine head
Ready Set Fall got some good songs
Rise to Remain (Band of the son of Bruce Dickinson)
Did i mention Sabaton yet?
Slayer
Soilwork
Zebrahead (It's more punk rock, but one of my favorite bands so have to list them)

But if you want something more / different (Disclaimer, besides Pantera, This is Hardcore)
Hatebreed
Sick of it all
H20
Pantera

And last, since you said you are more interested in the musical side;
Dragon Force. Power metal though, but check it out.

Now if you will excuse me, i have some bands that were mentioned in this thread to check out as well.

Edit; Damn, list got a bit longer than i thought.

Some of these bands might not be exactly what you're looking for, but they're all great, so you should check them out anyway.

Allow me to introduce you to Moonsorrow. If you don't give a shit about lyrics and just want music, this should be a half hour of excellence for you.

Aside from that, there's The Project Hate, an amazing industrial death metal band.

Another amazing death metal band would be Gorguts, which is pretty much the best technical death metal band to ever exist. There are many bands that are still trying (and failing) to catch up to their album Obscura. A warning though, if you aren't already a huge fan of death metal, you will probably hate this, and even if you are, it still might take a few listens to start enjoying it.

For black metal, you need look no farther than ...And Oceans.

And one more band that you need to listen to is My Dying Bride. Pure awesomeness.

I'm guessing most people around here are more likely to give you black and power metal than metalcore, so here's a big metalcore video dump.

^This one is super NSFW by the way.
