Basically, this. People were expecting another MGS game, but got DMC with Raiden pasted in without much warning.Galite said:Because when it was first announced it was supposed to be part of the actual story. Instead they did a complete 180 after a year with no news and decided to remove any element that made it a metal gear game people love and made it into what will probably be a generic action game spin-off title. The first trailer was promising even to any of the metal gear fans, that I knew anyway. We weren't horribly thrilled that you were going to be playing as Raiden (I've always liked that snake was more or less just another human) but the promise of stealth and choice between killing or disabling enemies was still there.
That's my reason anyway. Even then I don't think it looks like a bad game but unless something big happens that changes my mind it definitely won't be a game I pay $60-$70 for.
You're aware that Kojima had actually cancelled MGS:Rising yes? That's why there was no news for a year. After they had the initial concept and the idea for the stages/environments they realised that they wouldn't be able to make it work as effectively as they had imagined. So rather than say any of this, they just swept it under the rug and hoped that nobody would ask questions about it.Galite said:Because when it was first announced it was supposed to be part of the actual story. I was a bit confused there, glad that's cleared up. I also thought it was just going to be a hack and slash. I mean, you're a robot ninja. The first trailer I remember seeing involved tearing out a robo-spine. What do you expect?Sober Thal said:Doh!Chairman Miaow said:When was it called Risen? It was fine when it was called Risen these past 2 years or so. The minute they added Metal Gear, its time to ***** and complain like it's the end of the world. It's not a new phenomenon.
I uhm, er... yeah. Rising, not Risen.
EDIT: To anyone saying 'this isn't what the game was supposed to be like', can you link what story made you think so? It's always been a hack and slash from what I've heard.
I'm mainly a PC gamer who loves games all around and hate seeing this attitude among PC gamers. Quit making us out to be a bunch of condescending pricks.mad825 said:Metal Gear Rising is no longer going to be on the PC so I have the right to hate....Oh wait, this is a fan issue.
And also the fact that it was originally was made to be Between 2 and 4 to show Raiden how he became his Cyborg Ninja. But now they changed the story to AFTER, which makes no freaking sense. EVERYTHING was solved at the end of MGS4, no cliff hangers, no secret villians. Nothing.GundamSentinel said:Basically, this.
