People fear change, especially video game changes. I always welcome change. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes its a relatively good surprise.chinangel said:
I'm a HUGE Metal Gear SOLID fan and I have absolutely NO ISSUES with this game. I'm actually highly anticipating the game about 100x more than I did beforehand, I really didn't want a serious Metal Gear Solid game starring Raiden to be honest. But now with Platinum making the game, I'm totally stoked. They are going to make basically the equivalent of a really cheesy and awesome B-movie revenge/REVENGEANCE!!! flick. Raiden's voice is already 100x more gravelly in the trailer. Platinum is going to give Raiden every cool cliche in the book while being 100% self-aware that Raiden is not cool.
I don't even understand the story hate because I'm sure the story isn't going to change anything. You guys are totally over analyzing it. It'll probably be like Raiden getting back Rose or Sunny and everything is going to return to status quo anyways. So, what we are going to get is just an epically awesome Platinum game in the Metal Gear universe, and I CAN'T WAIT.

Pretty disappointing to see this. As a PC gamer, I hate it when PC players give console fanboys a reason to say "PC gamers think that they're better." Normally there's no substance to that, so don't give em any ammunition.mad825 said:

Quoted your entire post so I'm not sure what you mean about out of context--you threw out something that sounded pretty PC fanboyish, and I wanted to correct the image of PC gamers in the eyes of rational forum-goers. They seem to have abandoned the entire stealth aspect, since originally it was supposed to have an aggressive "hunt the people hunting you" stealth instead of the standard hide from people until you can get by stealth, but the newest trailer makes it look like it is pure hack and slash. Then Platinum changed it to take place after 4 instead of between 2 and 4. So that is why people are mad about it. Personally, I am disappointed for the setting change, but I still really want it. It looks like the type of game I have wanted recently.

My main problem is that the new one just looks annoying. Everytime raiden moves his arms everything explodes with lightning and every time he hits someone they splatter blood and lightning everywhere even though they haven't even been cut in half. The worst thing is that Raiden in MGS4 was finally given some balls and was made to be a silent badass ninja, and then they turn him into Sonic the Hedgehog shouting off stupid jokes while fighting.
Even if this is a spin off, the whole Metal Gear series including other spin offs have always been absurd but played straight. They've changed the whole tone of the game and it barely has anything to do with the Metal Gear series, I reckon they should just call it something else.
