We may see Metal Gear Solid 5 on the 360, but thats only if Hideo wants to. And i'm just guessing, but I think he has a loyalty to Sony.
There isnt going to be an MGS 4. Didnt MGS2 hit to you that Hideo wants to go on to do different things? He tried to alienate his fans with weird mindscrew, but that didnt work, so he's making one last magnum opus, then I'm sure he'll make it very, very clear that it's the END of the SERIES. Why cant folks just let a good series be laid to rest before it becomes tired and shitty? why must we bilk every game for all the sequils it's worth? Well, MGS will not be raped in this fashion.

Thought i read somewhere that they got that 50 GB due to someone insisting on using lossless audio.
Anyway mgs4 on xbox, no way.
OT: I hope this game is less like the last MGS and more like the old ones, might even make me pick up a ps3.

was reading stuff on the internet
that kojima thinks that ps3 hasnt sold enough units
which means that there wont be as many sales as he origionally intended
so if it doesnt hes thinking about putting it onto 360 where there is a good number of sales
to increase figures

its the internet so its not exactly concrete evidence
would be nice though
just think il have to go and save up for it

If Kojima did manage to fill 50 gigs, expect 32 hours of cutscenes in 40 minute blocks.
In any case, I'd really like there to be a port. But it isn't going to happen and I'm not shelling out the cash for a PS3. MGS4 isn't coming to the 360, but somehow I'll make it through life. Somehow.

This whole thread is starting to remind me of nearly every thread on the official Ace Combat 6 forums where 90% of the posters never played the game because they own a PS3 and are pissed about the lack of a port.

And I think we should all take into perspective the fact that the game hasn't come out yet and we're all talking like the game we haven't played is brilliant and will single-handedly save the PS3 and doom the 360. MGS4 could turn out to be another MGS2, and I hated that game so much I became physically ill (luckily MGS3 came out and soothed my rage).

never will happen because sony and kojima Productions own the rights "as well as Nintendo aka BRAWL, so don't expect to see MGS4 with a 360 logo on it any time soon.
p.s., even if did it would not fit on a single disk because it takes up the whole blue ray "50 gigs"

kojima said that he wasn't going to release it on 360 or wii because he would rather design a game specifically for those consoles so they are better suited for the audience. and even if the sales are poor, i'd imagine sony would pay a lot of money to keep it exclusive because it would be a huge blow to ps3 if it went multi platform. personaly i'd be really pissed off if it did go to 360 because if i knew it was going to i would have got a 360 rather than ps3 and saved myself £100. and i've just realised that i'm effectively paying £140 to play 1 game. it better be good!

I think I speak for the Escapist when I say that we have had enough of your blatant console insults. This is a place for intelligent conversations with a theme of videogames, not for flinging waste at your hated companies. If you want to talk about the 360 please make it constructive and less "fanboylike"

If you want to insult a pile of wire and plastic why can't you do that whithout insulting those that bought that pile of plastic and wire.
Actually, it seems to be only you who is feeling this. Previously I have been praised for my fair and balanced appraisal of all three consoles, and the combined Issues. It might just be you affecting me, making me get defensive.
It's not just him. Disliking the 360 is fine. Taking humorous potshots at it ever now and again is okay. For the last week though, most of your posts that I recall reading have had blatant Sony fanboy written in the liner notes, and this isn't the place for that type of thing.

Kojima always states a loyalty to his "Long term" fan base rather than any specific system. He asumes that most fans of MGS, which previously appeared on Sony Systems primarily, will keep buying Sony Systems, if for no other reason than they expect Metal Gear Games to keep coming out on them. If he were going to change systems my guess is he would tell his "loyal fan base" from the get go, at least, that's what he claims he would do.

Also, the 360 isn't doing so great in Japan, still, and the triumph of Blu-Ray over HD has increased PS3 sales immensely. That and the PS3/MGS4 Bundle is almost a garaunteed system seller. A 360 Version at this point is extremely unlikely, the best 360 fans will get is a "MGS2 Substance" style port about a year or two later.

I imagine that MGS4 staying console exclusive will sell some more PS3's to offset the fact that it is playing third fiddle in the console race. However, I call bullshit on Blu-Ray discs being too small. Most of it is probably going to be devoted to interminable Codec conversations and self-indulgent cinematics. I love the Metal Gear Solid series, but I think that Kojima might be getting a bit too big for his britches.

@Dingo - I second tiredinnuendo in saying that you need to chill with the 360 bashing. Owning a PS3 doesn't make you better than anyone else. Making a jab from time to time is cool, but these constant putdowns are getting old.

I have never seen my Ps3 loading for more than 5 seconds, on Assasins Creed, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, and The Orange Box.
I'm sorry, but what you say isn't true for at least one of those titles.

When I was working at SCEE last year, one night it was my job to measure the loading times of Heavenly Sword (as they had to be under 30 seconds). Some of the load times barely made it under that time, especially when choosing to play a different chapter.

Although installing data will help with load times, it doesn't make them load THAT fast, Warhawk being a great example of this, running completely off the HDD (even the disc version, which requires the disc to be inserted on boot-up as an anti-piracy feature).

A possible reason that Kojima is claiming that MGS4 takes up a silly amount of disc space is that due to BluRay being prolifically slow, some developers repeat the same game data in different parts of the disc so the laser doesn't have to move as much (as doing so would makes load times even slower).

the way ps3 is going with the low sales it might. assasins creed and some others were only ment to be ps3 releases but they had such low scales. so the mgs4 crew might think for a second and release it on xbox.
You mean these low sales? [http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9946&Itemid=2] Still, thier nothing compared to how the Wii is doing but they certianly have overtaken the 360. As for the "mgs4 crew" thinking about releasing it on the 360; it is not going to happen as it simply isnt possible.

Off-topic, but I have to say how interesting that was. Seriously, no sarcasm (it can be hard to tell online) that's a really interesting fact.

Does anyone here really believe that MGS4 has over four times the amount of data of Crysis, cutscenes and audio whatever included?
Yes.

I mean, thier not going to put 50gb of data onto the disc just for the sheer sake of it. Even if some of the data is redundent it will only be a few gigabytes. There is no way in hell they are going squeeze 50GB into an 8GB DVD. They had enough trouble compressing Assassins Creed onto a DVD and that was only somthing like 10 or 11 GB.

This isn't about fitting MGS on a 360 disc. I don't give two sh*ts whether or not the damn game comes out on Xbox.

The point is, do you really believe the hyperbole coming out for this game? I ask you again, 50 gigs? Do you not maybe think perhaps they said that just to drum up extra interest in the game? Do you not think, even with gaming tech where it currently is, it sounds a bit ridiculous to be talking about 50 gigabyte games?
With any other game (for the moment at least) i think i'd agree with you. However, this is MGS4 we're talking about, probably the most antisapated exclusive for the PS3. Sony have probably been developing this for ages putting as much money/time/effort as they possibly can into making as this will be thier first time to demonstrate what the machine is really capible of.

Infact, the game HAS to sell at least a million copies on release day just to recover the costs of making it.
