it doesn't really feel like a Metal Gear Solid game. Sure, I guess it could be a Metal Gear game, but from all the previous games being so heavily focused on stealth, MGS: Rising seems a bit too gratuitous and out there
you get quoted as you made the point first:

i agree, there was no need to have "solid" in the title. In my eyes, that associates it with solid snake.

Metal Gear Rising would have been fine, starting this up as a franchise on its own.

OT, i like the idea of not having to butcher your way through everything and i can picture a squad of dudes turning tail and running after watching you do it to their squaddie...

am looking forward to this.

Also, is that an improved version of Soldus' suit that kicked so much ass in MGS2? I hope there's some mechanism for the muscle increase and decrease.

in metal gear solid 2 you had a sword near the end of the game. It had a sharp side for killing people and a dull side for knocking them unconscious. I wonder if it'll work like that.

Wait, killing cyborgs is perfectly okay?

Okay then. I hope these cyborgs don't seem particularly human, because otherwise this merciful option might look a little bit...hollow.

Sure, I COULD just disarm them and avoid any further conflict, OR I could disarm them, and while they are cowering before my awesomeness, I cleave them in two.
But really, I only kill when it is neccessary or when I'm in the mood.

Hmm...a no-kill speed run? That sounds interesting...
Ill bet there's a reward for completing it that way, in the same way as doing it without being spotted gives a reward usually.

That would be pretty cool. A good point actually. I wonder if the game features a variety of swords in it?

MGS is based on stealth. now they are being pricks and saying "here's a fun toy you can have, but you don't want to play with it." what are they thinking?

A whole variety of swords would be cool, even some iconic ones from other series. I wonder what the chances of the buster blade turning up are? Hmm.......

Well, one thing's for sure, there will be a lot of blood and limbs flying everywhere.

Probably already mentioned but...

Is anyone else noticing the recent trend cropping up with the whole *Lets NOT kill people* in games?

I mean Rising has the Mercy option, and Fallout New Vages has announced you can play the entire game start to finish as a pascifist and not kill anyone either.

Weird, but i like the idea. Makes the games more appealing as, while i have no objections to killing. Having a second *Non lethal* playthrough option gives me an excuse to pop the disk in a second time.

I think it's excellent. Particularly for something like fallout, where you want to create a unique character. Not everyone is a battle hardened warrior who can kill hundreds of raiders without batting an eyelid or losing sleep. It also creates more interesting mechanics to get around those kind of situations... I think in Rising, sneaking past guards or disabling them will probably be a lot more satisfying than killing everyone. Though if I get in a fight I will chop them in half and laugh over their corpse. :D
