Metro 2033

I've had a very brief hands on - really impressed, looking forward to Friday!

Really atmospheric.. reminds me of Fallout 3 for that. Some nice, tricky bits too. Conserving ammo means you do have to sneak about rather than rush in all guns blazing, of course.

Re: gasmasks.. if you're slow to put them on, you'll start wheezing for breath. I didn't push it so far as to see how long it takes to die
If you're in combat while wearing your gasmask it will take damage in the form of large cracks in it. There are other masks laying around though, so you can swap them out if the damage gets too much.

I have my PC Limited Edition copy ordered at GAME, but as I'm in the UK it's not out until the 19th :-(
Personally I couldn't give a flying fork about God of War 3, I played the first one and thought it was okay but nothing special. These games from the Soviet Empire rock though, I love the Stalker series and I've been waiting on Metro 2033 for ages.
I'm also waiting on my hardback copy of the book to arrive.

oh boy oh boy I am excite. I was planning on getting this from pretty much the moment I heard about it, and it looks fantastic.

I'm getting this as soon as I'm done with finals.

I had just enough money to get one game and it came down to Final Fantasy XIII or Metro 2033. I decided to buy Final Fantasy XII and I've regretted this decision since I played into the first two hours of the game.

Yeah, I tried Cryostasis and I quite enjoyed it until a got a major bug and couldn't actually play any further. Every single time I got to a certain point I got a CTD and I only reached about the 3rd-4th level :-(

atmosphere and graphics are good.
but stealth is bananas. one wrong move whole level knows you are there, you kill a guy standing next to his friend his friend doesnt even respond. worse of it's there is no save. you have to start the whole level again if one guy sees you. i would be fine with that if shooting was fun, but it's way almost the same as cryostasis. even worse. you just dont feel like shooting. weapon feedback is horrible.
game is not what i expected at all. but at least i saw some of the best 3D effects around.

After an hour or so i was left alone in the outside for the first time. I killed a bunch of the easiest mutants(i call them meerkats), and died afterwards from a broken gas mask.

I read some previews for it a few weeks ago, and I found myself intrigued.
It seems much like Fallout, but more focused on the whole wasteland dealio, as well as the radiation and whatnot.

The song is from the film 28 Days Later. An English death metal band called The Rotted did a rather good cover of it too.

I'm going to wait to see if a demo comes out. It looks okay, but "Canyourunit" doesn't have it on there, and I'll not be buying a game only for me to: 1)Not enjoy it or 2)Not be able to play it.

Just keep in mind that Metro 2033 is an almost completely linear game. Go in expecting a STALKER or a Fallout 3 and you'll be dissapointed.






That is, you'll be dissapointed until you realise that you're playing a game as good as any of the Half Life series.

I actually saw a big poster for it and it looked interesting, but I barely heard anything about it. I would get it if I had the cash, so I'm just waiting for the price to go down. Won't be for a while though...
