Metroid: Other M

So I checked on Gametrailers today, and apparently there is now a trailer out for the Metroid game being made by Team Ninja.

It's a bit weird (Spoken Dialogue in mah Metroid?!) but from what I've seen of gameplay it looks pretty good.

What do my fellow escapists think of this?

Additional questions:

What are you expecting from Other M, do you even want to know Samus' backstory? What about her new hair style? The blending of styles (Classic Metroid, Prime)

Since this is Team Ninja, do you think we'll see Jiggling Samus funbags?

I'm monumentally uninterested in the story, and there's so little gameplay that's been shown so far that it's too early for me to judge. Probably going to pirate it borrow it from one of my friends or rent it.

It looks good, and I like the addition of cinematics. I just hope they don't overwhelm the game, and that the typical Metroid gameplay we've come to know and love stays in the forefront.

There will be a big dramatic scene where Adam will sacrifice himself to save Samus.

If anyone remembers in Super Smash Bros Melee they had that opening whre samus was much more free moving and had Lara Croft acrobatics, practically.

I just find it intereting that after many years it finally moves towards what I've been waiting for(though first person adventure shooting is good too)

There was a monologue in Super Metroid, dialog and a bunch of monologues in Metroid fusion. Spoken dialog in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Having Samus have her own lines in Other M seems like the next logical step. I hope they keep Jennifer Hale as the voice. (She did Samus' screams and grunts in the prime games) She is the best voice actress in the industry and she makes me feel strange feelings that aren't hatred, pride, and annoyance.

When Nintendo is acting as a game developer (in partnership with Team Ninja this time), great things happen. I have no lack of faith here.

Whats interesting is how different the game looks from the Prime series. It looks like Other M may have different modes of gameplay within itself, which should keep things interesting. Looks like 4 out of my 5 probably gaming purchases for the rest of the year will be on the Wii.

I'm not too big a fan of Samus' design there but I like it better then the Zero Suit design Nintendo loves to give her. Otherwise I just wish they showed us some gameplay footage, but I'm holding out hopes of a good game. Though I do need to get a new wii if I want to play it.

Actually, I believe there are a few trailers with gameplay footage floating around out there (albeit only a couple seconds worth). Try Youtube-ing it.

Im half and half about the designed though.
It looks cool but, i dont like the update they did to her suit.

But honestly, im just glad Team ninja kept it in their pants while Designing Samus.
I love her but, Metroid: Dead or Alive doesnt sound to good to me.

I saw an old one, but I was kinda hoping for a newer more recent one with lots of footage I guess. Oh well not the end of the world they'll probably be releasing one before the game comes out.

I'm sure they will. I'm pretty sure it's not coming out for quite a while though, which explains why they're withholding gameplay footage. That's usually leaked about one-two months before the release: the perfect amount of time to have a good hype build up and maintain itself without starting to wither.

They changed her suit? Do you have any images? Or are you talking about the clothes she wears? Because the zerosuit was stupid.

they changed the overall desgine of the Vera Suit.

They messed with the colors and streamlined it a bit.
Its hard to distinguish it from the Power Suit.
And, i though the Zero Suit was interesting.
It fits(as in Style and atmosphere) Samus well in my opinion.

This was the first thing I thought when I heard that Samus would have a speaking voice. From the trailer though, I'm not sure it's her. I always thought that female Shepard would be perfect for Samus. It was funny when I realized the voice actor DID do Samus's grunts and yells in the Prime series. Too bad Prime didn't have any speaking parts for Samus.

For the game itself I'm kinda annoyed their using cinematics to tell the story-line. Few games can tell a story without using cutscenes, (such as Half-Life) Metroid Prime was one of them. Sure the actual story-line in the Prime games weren't anything special but like Half-life you could study the environment and infer things about the setting. Games that are able to do that have a lot of atmosphere and make up for the lack of a interesting plot. Team Ninja isn't exactly subtle and I'm afraid we'll end up with something with a terrible story-line (if the Ninja Gaiden games say anything) and no atmosphere.

I don't mind learning more about Samus's story but I'd really be annoyed it if turned out stupid.
