I played and beat metroid prime 1. It's a fantastic game. I played and only got through about half of MP2, it didn't hold my interest as much. I haven't played MP3 at all.

For a non-Nintendo fan I acctually know more about Metroid than most other X-box fans (I suppose I'm an X-box fan though I don't really know anymore) thats all thanks to SSBB trophy descriptions and Haloid which prompted me to actually look at the Metroid wiki despite not playing the game so I'd know more about the debate (Yes I have that much time on my hands sometimes)
Have I played Metroid? If the Metroid Prime Hunters demo that came with the DS counts then yes
thats about all I can answer yes to

No

...I'm not exactly a Nintendo fan, obviously; but I'm considering buying the trilogy game, just to see what's got everybody's attention.

Metroid Prime is definetly an underrated game it was very inventive in it's premise (Although the scanning did get a bit tedious) the weapons and gadgets were fun to use, the graphics were great and the backtracking never seemed boring. Unlike most Nintendo games they changed their premise and it worked perfectly. Altogether a great game.

I've played all of them bar Metroid II and Metroid Prime Pinball. I've completed all of them bar the two I haven't played and the original Metroid. Completed the entire Metroid Prime trilogy 100% and I think Metroid Prime is the finest game in existance.

So yes I would say I'm a fan.

I find it a decent FPS, but the "puzzles" are basically just "look around in the scan visor until you see something red or orange".

Have you played Metroid?
I've played Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion.

Have you played Metroid Prime? (1-3)
Only the first one. I didn't like it very much, but I've been meaning to give it a nother shot.

Have you completed Metroid Prime? (1-3)
No. I found it to be kind of frustrating (just like all Metroid games, really.)

Would you consider yourself a fan of MP?
No, I really wouldn't.

I've played Metroid, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Prime 1 and 2.

Completed all but Metroid and Super Metroid.

I'd say I'm the biggest a fan can get without going into the Dedicated Fanboy territory.
Although, I guess I should admit I've had a fanboy crush on Samus ever since Metroid Prime 1... think and judge whatever you will, it will not affect me!

I've played metroid, metroid II, super metroid, all the primes, fusion, zero mission, and hunters. I finished all of them but hunters, but I do intend to finish someday, maybe next year. I'm a fan of metroid in general but not the prime series in particular.

Kotaku's report of 'downgrading' is heavily exagurated. Water effects were downgraded, but the arm cannon's effects HAD to be removed due to the fact that CG Metroid's camera moved with Samuses arm, whereas the Wii Metroid's camera does not move with the arm. The GC animation which was removed was 2D, so it wouldn't have worked. Alot of the textures have apparently been bumped up too.
Well I'm glad someone saw some damned sense and realised that was nonsense. But it's Kotaku, sensationalist bull is the order of the day, at least Destructoid takes the piss most of the time, but Kotaku is meant to be serious...

By the way, the Prime trilogy is amazing. I played the Prime trilogy, Metroid 1, Super Metroid, but not the rest. I shall soon enough though.

That Kotaku might have had a significant effect on sales. Several folk I've heard having second thoughts because of that report. A bloody water ripple and the loss of the light seeping out of the side of the arm cannon/Ice freezing over it isn't significant. Well, the Ice is, but that's besides the point.

Underrated? It got >90 on Metacritic, and is generally critically aclaimed... Took me a while to get used to the style, really, but since I have... Hell, this last 2/3rds of MP2 are getting done without hints on. They really arn't neccesary for me anymore. Experience!

Ooo, Metroid, it really doesn't get enough love.

1- I've played and beaten Metroid, Super Metroid, Prime 1, Prime 2, Prime 3, Prime Hunters and Zero Mission. I'm on the hunt for Fusion and Return of Samus.
2- Absolutely
3- multiple times, and each on the hardest difficulty
4- It's my favourite game of all time. As well as my favourite franchise. I'm quite the fanboy.

EDIT: Hey, weren't you the guy that gave me that Mario cookie earlier?
Indeed I was... what was it for again? Oh! To take a vegan and EAT IT! wasn't it?

Also, how's Zero Mission? I kind of didn't get into Fussion. Silly computer made me want to kill myself.
