I bought the Trilogy the other day, and I'm about 60% into the first game. I'm having a great time, but is it going to last? I'm loving how fleshed out the world is; The scanning really is an awesome addition, and one of the main things driving me through the game is wanting to find out stuff about the universe that Samus Aran lives in. The puzzles are very clever as well, and I'm very impressed at how the game forces you to travel around the Talon IV finding new objects and such without making things tedious, but on to the main point of the thread: Will the rest of the games be as good as the first? Do you enjoy the games, and if not, what is your favourite trilogy?

I only have Corruption, and I thought it was pretty solid, if a little unspectacular. Some bosses are pretty cheap on the harder difficulties too, when you're forced to dump your shields into your guns to attack them, which gets insanely frustrating. It's a pretty good game though!

I, too, have only played Corruption. Now I kinda wish I would've just waited for this, but Corruption was still a great standalone game.

I've heard positive things about the second, too, so your enjoyment should last, throughout.

EDIT: Oh, but unfortunately, I've heard that the first is the best, so you may be enjoying it most now. However, it's all personal opinion, so maybe the people I've heard that from were dead wrong.

I personally prefered one of the first ones (can't remember which, I think it was echoes or something like that), although I'm not sure what the general opinion is.

I've just heard that they've gotten some criticism because of following the "if it ain't broken, why fix it?" pattern too much. That does not, in my opinion at least, make the experience less enjoyable. On a side note I also forgot to mention how I'm loving the desolation of the first game so far. It's you on a dying planet accompanied only by spacepirates, foul creatures and your trusty logbook.

Having played all three I like to think I have a solid opinion on it:

Prime is awesome and easily one of the best FPS's ever made

Echoes is a little less innovative (although the two different worlds does try) but no less fun and even has a local multiplayer which is pretty bland but a nice bonus (it adds about as much to the game as Bioshock 2's multiplayer (gameplay wise not story wise))

Corruption is another awesome game even though it is the weakest in the trilogy (then again thats like saying a threesome just isnt up there with a foursome and a seventeensome). It's biggest differences over the other two games are the Wii controls (which are fun despite feeling a little wierd at times) the fact that it flows a little better and a lot less originality

Overall the series is definitely one of the greatest in gaming history, right up there with Half Life, Mass Effect, Bioshock and "insert random ridiculously high rated game series here"

Played the first two on the cube and Corruption. Didn't buy Trilogy because of that.

I think the Metroid Prime series is probably one of Nintendo's best active series right now. Sadly, the trilogy is at an end and they'll have to find something else for Samus to do, I guess that's what Metroid: Other M will be for. The only thing that bugged me about Prime Trilogy was that you only fight Ridley and it wasn't even the original Ridley but some cyber-mecha version. What about Kraid or Mother Brain? Why can't I fight the villains of Metroid worth fighting?

Aside from all that, the first game is probably the best of the three. The second game is the worst, but by no means BAD. It just has a plot that doesn't quite fit the Metroid series and the ammunition for your various beams was the stupidest idea I've ever seen employed in a Metroid game. The third game is the middle one in terms of quality. Probably because it shows how a good FPS (style) game is for the Wii and it has a good story with good environments, but it still has a lot of the flaws Echoes has to make it not as good as the original. That's my thought though, you might enjoy the later two better.

I've never played it because a game which is in first person and consists of shooting things triggers a big warning alarm in my brain, but I've heard it's more of an FPA (first-person adventure) than an FPS, so maybe I should try it...

You definately should, the main focus is on exploring the world (I can only speak for the first). The combat is also great, and the bosses are really gnarly.

"Will it last?"

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Not really. MP is fun. A great game. MP2 sucks massive balls but is at least trying to be fun. MP3 has some incredibly stupid controls, but is better than MP2. Frankly, don't play 2 and 3, they will not live up to 1.

The first one is good, the second is better and the third drops off a little bit, but is still very good.

EDIT: Also, the first one goes a bit loopy goofy at the end.

Having played them all around 4 times each, I can say that it is my favourite trilogy ever, with Prime 1 being my all-time favourite game.

Echoes is the longest of the trilogy, being about 20-25 hours, and Corruption approaches 20 hours. Combine that with Prime 1 and you're looking at about 60 hours, so yes, it will last.

Prime is easily the best one. Most people would rank Corruption second, but I feel that it's far and away the weakest of the series. It's a great game with some amazing environments, but it focuses way too much on action which is not what Metroid is about.

Many people like to ***** about Echoes because it is hard, but if you are patient you will love it. The light and dark world thing make for great puzzles, and it will be a long, challenging playthrough (I'd imagine you would like that). However, Echoes does have the blandest graphics of the games, since the dark world is basically purple everywhere. Still, great game.

I hope you enjoy the trilogy as much as I did. Also, may I ask where you bought it? It's hard to find since Nintendo discontinued it. (I'm lucky I got mine!)
I got it from a scandinavian company called "Elkjøp" (I believe it's called "El-giganten" in Sweden, but that's besides the point), which is mainly an electronics shop that also sells gaming stuff. I was just going by to check if there was anything I could do to save my gaming PC, and while waiting for a clerk to help me I decided to check the gaming section of the shop, and there I saw the final copy, shining brilliantly at the counter. From that moment I knew that we were meant to be. It's a shame I couldn't save my PC, though, but at least I got something very positive from my trip.

I played Echoes first. Then Played Prime. It didn't matter. They're both fantastic games but I guess they didn't evolve much, just added new enemies, new skins, a kind-new story and an ammo limit for your beam weapons.

The backtracking though was kind of annoying.

I left echoes at home.. WHY OH WHY DID I LEAVE IT AT HOME!?

Avoid the multiplayer. It was shit.

But the ING are seriously my favorite villianous race thing in the whole of gamingdom. And emperor ing... Goddang. Beat PRime 100% then play echoes and beat it at 100% asap. Freakin' insane awesomeness.

Once you get your final suit in Echoes... you feel like you pretty much own the universe.

Though I may have had my launch goggles on (I got it when it first came out back on the gamecube), I felt that the first Metroid Prime was the best one. It was amazing back in its day, and even holds up now. Echoes was disappointing for me; I don't want to go into specifics, lest I spoil anything for you, but the addition of ammo requirements for the beam weapons and some of the game mechanics took away from the game that I loved.

That tickles my fancy, could you place some more details on that final suit you were talking about in a spoiler tag?

Metroid Prime is a great trilogy, 2 grated on my nerves a bit but it was still pretty good.
The only issue I have is that the Wii Trilogy has removed effects which may sound like a minor gripe but for a game that takes the cake for amazing subtle effects, it pushes me toward my gamecube Primes.

My favorite trilogy? Don't have one, I don't have a favorite game/system/series. Just like stuff and don't like stuff.

Though Sonic 1-3&K is pretty godly since I still play them since they FIRST came out.

I can do that

[spoiler/] in the beginning of the game when you first enter teh dark world you nearly die from teh atmosphere and must stand in these safe zones. You can waste a lot of time waiting for the safe zone to regen the health you lost when out of it. Tehn you eventually get a suit that slows down teh damage. YOu have to fight a boss that has no safe zone whatsoever, effectively giving you a timelimit on how you beat it. After struggling to get it beat you will eventually get the light suit, which allows you complete immunity from the affects of the atmosphere. The reason I say it makes you feel like you own the world is that for the entire otehr part of the game you were at the mercy of the poison and you finally get past it and get to kick ass the rest of hte game[/spoiler]

damnit lordnue!

I feel that all three of them are examples of VERY good games. Echos is probably my least favorite in the trilogy... just something about it, I don't really know what it was.

The Prime games are the three best First Person games ever made. You will enjoy certain ones more or less depending on your preferences. (1 is the most explorey, 2 is the most atmospheric, (The atmosphere just happens to burn you alive if you aren't in safe zones) and 3 is the most actioney.)
