I played Echoes first. Then Played Prime. It didn't matter. They're both fantastic games but I guess they didn't evolve much, just added new enemies, new skins, a kind-new story and an ammo limit for your beam weapons.

The backtracking though was kind of annoying.

I left echoes at home.. WHY OH WHY DID I LEAVE IT AT HOME!?

Avoid the multiplayer. It was shit.

But the ING are seriously my favorite villianous race thing in the whole of gamingdom. And emperor ing... Goddang. Beat PRime 100% then play echoes and beat it at 100% asap. Freakin' insane awesomeness.

Once you get your final suit in Echoes... you feel like you pretty much own the universe.
That tickles my fancy, could you place some more details on that final suit you were talking about in a spoiler tag?
the light suit. It's a white suit that makes you immune to the toxic air of dark aether, it's pretty neat. However you get it quite literally at the end of the game.
Holy mother of Jesus, that suit looks SWEET!

I only have Corruption, and I thought it was pretty solid, if a little unspectacular. Some bosses are pretty cheap on the harder difficulties too, when you're forced to dump your shields into your guns to attack them, which gets insanely frustrating. It's a pretty good game though!
I, too, have only played Corruption. Now I kinda wish I would've just waited for this, but Corruption was still a great standalone game. I've heard positive things about the second, too, so your enjoyment should last, throughout.

EDIT: Oh, but unfortunately, I've heard that the first is the best, so you may be enjoying it most now. However, it's all personal opinion, so maybe the people I've heard that from were dead wrong.
I've just heard that they've gotten some criticism because of following the "if it ain't broken, why fix it?" pattern too much. That does not, in my opinion at least, make the experience less enjoyable. On a side note I also forgot to mention how I'm loving the desolation of the first game so far. It's you on a dying planet accompanied only by spacepirates, foul creatures and your trusty logbook.
I know what you mean, that desolate atmosphere is exactly why it's so great to me. Corruption had it too; the Olympus and Norion aren't that great for that, but they're the tutorial levels, so that's okay. Bryyo, Elysia, and [name redacted for spoilers] were absolutely amazing for it (do every Lore scan on Bryyo, it honestly may have the most tragic story I've ever heard). The planet after is great for some cathartic relief (you'll see why when you get there), but it doesn't do the desolation so well, but the very last planet, while still not quite so desolate, still manages to make up for it by actually feeling like the planet itself is evil.

I really loved scaning the spacepirates' logs, reading about how they found the planet and faced the problems they encountered certainly was interesting. The Chozo lore is also worth mentioning, but I feel it relies a bit much on the "The prophecy foretold blah blah blah and then we did blah blah blah to prevent the evil".

I've never been a fan of it. It's an improvement over the dark suit though. My favorite is still probably the Phazon Suit though. To be honest I kinda like the Fusion Suit in prime just for how fucking ugly it is. (By the way you CAN unlock it in the trilogy)
On the subject of suit design, I can't tell if the Dark Suit looks really cool or really stupid.

I loved the logs on the pirate homeworld where it starts off with them talking about how screwed they are because DarkSamus returned, then gradually they start coming under her control. My favorite logs in the whole trilogy will ALWAYS be the one in the first game where the pirates are trying to reverse engineer the morphball mode. A close second is the one where they're talking about how they're cursed because there's two samuses now
I was more partial to elysia's logs though. Those poor robots : ( they just seemed so sad.
I don't know, their story was sad, but it was never as bad as what happened to the Reptilicus. Let's recap:
They are a very, very successful species in a friendly. equal relationship with the Chozo. However, they are unable to reconcile their "old ways", magic, with the "new ways", science. This leads to a civil war, in which the "Lords of Science" are hunted down and slaughtered and the entire planet, save 4% of it's surface, the equatorial band, id destroyed. The Lore entries are made by the last Lord of Science as he and a girl from one of the tribes with whom he teamed up launch a satellite to stop the remaining 4% of the planet from being destroyed. The launch, though successful, draws the attention of the followers of the Old Ways, and the last entry has the Lord of Science calmly awaiting his death.

You meat Reptilicus on Bryyo, but they're nothing more than savages, completely ignorant of how great their society was. That is the greatest tragedy of all.

Yeah but I feel more sorry for the robots. They're just robots, it's not their fault in any way : (.
However the chozo? Those guys have the touch of death. Their own society, the luminoth AND the reptillicus all got hosed over after meeting with those birdy fucks.
I don't think it's really the Chozo's fault; the Luminoth were killed more by Phazon, the Lords of Science existed before the Reptilicus made contact with them, and the vast majority of the Chozo (all but those on Zebes and Tallon IV, really) ascended to a higher plane of existence.

It's green and pinkish purple for Varia and purple and pink for Gravity. Orange and red for phazon.
I duuno, it may just be because I loved Metorid Fusion, but I don't dislike the Fusion Suit so much. Sure, I think it's ironic that the best looking suit in the game, the one only had for the final boss fight, was Samus' original suit, but still.

You definately should, the main focus is on exploring the world (I can only speak for the first). The combat is also great, and the bosses are really gnarly.
LordNue said:
It is more of a first person adventure game that focuses on exploration, you just happen to use a gun as a weapon rather then a sword or something : ). I'd recommend it, it's good fun and you won't be disappointed if you like exploring for items and secrets without FAQs.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll probably check this game out.

I mean, it's not the same suit literally, but it is the same sprite as her original suit, which means that, in terms of looks (what I was talking about at the time), it is the same. All I was trying to say was that I like the Fusion Suit, but it's not as good looking as just the normal one.

It isn't the same sprite, it's a recoloured version of the fusion suit.
You sure? It looks a lot like what she looked like in the opening exposition flashback thing. I'm not sure, and I'm certainly no expert, but that's how it seemed to me. Either way, however, I think you get the gist of what I'm saying.

the first metroid prime game is in my top ten games of all time imo. loved the atmosphere and the exploration, the environments.
Echoes, not so much. still good though.

I tried to, but it didn't seem to work. I'm sure the Classic Controller will work, though.

I only have Corruption, and I thought it was pretty solid, if a little unspectacular. Some bosses are pretty cheap on the harder difficulties too, when you're forced to dump your shields into your guns to attack them, which gets insanely frustrating. It's a pretty good game though!
You use one shield, then you blast away, but let it go into the "over-doze" thingy which i can't remember the name of, then it recharges itself.

But i second that corruption was awesome, haven't gotten hold of the trilogy yet, and for some strange reason, i never had the first 2 on my gamecube.
